When I lock my door
I had that on mine - it was because the little plastic bit on the driver's door lock was broken so it couldn't engage the bit that makes the passenger door lock work. It would make the noise when it was locked or unlocked until I manually locked/unlocked the passenger door.

FINALLY! A religion I can believe in!
I think we should all convert to pastafarianism. Right now. And I want a hat.

Cam Belt Service/replacement
The garage is Camerons. Took it in there a couple of weeks ago to free up a couple of seized pistons on my front calipers + MOT. I provided the new pads but even so the whole lot came to just over £80, not bad at all. I've just bought some Koni Sport adjustable shocks which they're fitting next week, and have a boost problem they're looking at....will let you know how it goes (if anyone's still interested !)

English test
20/20. But I'm an annoying pedantic git who gripes about poor punctuation and spelling and can often be heard muttering things like "What's the world coming to, eh ?" whilst gazing unapprovingly at shop signs with statements such as "Tomatoe's".

Renewed membership last week
Please could someone re-activate my membership ? I paid my renewal via paypal on 18/8/05 at 09:13, paypal transaction ID was 2B070293NN647791A. I can't PM my address to anyone as I'm not a full member...I can mail the paypal receipt if that would be of any use ? Cheers :)

Sorry for the delay.
Still waiting for access to be renewed to site, paid renewals some time ago now. BTW, have never received anything other than access to the site (am on second year of membership). Not bothered about stickers but a keyring or something would be nice. Nick

good garage in north yorkshire?
I've had some work done at Atkins Motor Engineers in Malton (in between York and Scarborough) - they're Nissan types, reasonable prices and the work was good. There's also a place called Distinctive Cars York which is in Strensall (near York) - not been there yet but seem to have a good reputation. HTH :)

Linux app to interface with Z
Cool, cheers mate :>

Linux app to interface with Z
I've had a look at the DashPC and some other similar projects but I want to write my own - learning exercise as well. Got several other projects underway to work alongside this (generic stuff like power management etc), most of which has been covered elsewhere but nothing specific to the Z.

Linux app to interface with Z
I've been hunting around for some time for anything linux based to hook a PC up to the Z in the same way ConZult / DataScan / ZTalk work, all to no avail :) So, I've bought a DataScan cable, and with some help from Jason Dear (distributor for DataScan) for the protocol specs I've decided to write one myself. I want to put a PC in my car to do nav / music / wifi mapping etc and wanted it to run linux, so I've just about got everything else ready apart from the car interface. I'll be starting work on it within the next 2 months or so and should have something vaguely usable shortly after that - I'll be releasing it under the BSD licence as well (looking at developing a Java based version under a commercial licence too). So, is there anyone else who'd be interested in this, helping out with testing etc ? I've got a UK Z, so help from people with autos, replacement ECUs etc would be appreciated. Let me know :)

Recommendations for BUSINESS broadband?
Zen - http://www.zenadsl.com. They're on their way to becoming a Tier 1 provider, have consistently been at the top for ADSL speed and reliability, don't charge a fortune, and have excellent customer service. We use them for business connectivity (BGP peering), staff ADSL and some customer services, and they consistently provide good performance. Backend network is well connected, which has a big impact on end user experience. No, i don't work for them :)

Cam Belt Service/replacement
I've just been informed of a garage in York that has done some extensive work on Z's - friend of a friend etc. Apparently they've done turbo, engine, exhaust etc work. Need some of that doing to mine so will give it a go :) Can't remember the name yet but it's behind the Odeon (The Crescent, Blossom St) if anyone else knows it....

Searching for chavs....
Not sure how long this will work....searching for CHAV on Argos' site. Shame there aren't any Novas or Burberry there. http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=2501&langId=-1&searchTerms=CHAV&go.x=8&go.y=7

Cam Belt Service/replacement
Sorry about delay in reply. I put it in for a cambelt + water pump change and anything not too expensive they found during this. Resulted in a couple of extra pipes etc and oil change. Taken the car there a couple of times now, given me good advice and not ripped me off - also don't mind if you supply your own parts :)

Cam Belt Service/replacement
Don't know if it's closer for you, but I just had mine done by Atkins Motor Engineers in Malton, North Yorkshire - they're Nissan authorised repairers.

Clutch problems
Cheers, will give it a go :)

Clutch problems
Same clutch as has been in car since I bought it about 4 months / 2000 miles ago. Been fine since then, tested it as best I can earlier as well - no slipping in high gears at low speeds etc. How easy would either of those things be to determine - would they cause this kind of intermittent problem (although this is the first time it's happened) Cheers

Clutch problems
just tried the car now, and clutch seems to be working fine. Making some odd noises, idling at around 2000 on startup dropping to about 1200 when warmer, and sounds a bit diesel-like :s hmm...any suggestions ?!
