Hello all you Z owning IT experts!

 

Just wondering if you can point me in the right direction...... I'm looking at changing my current supplier for broadband at the business centre I run in West London. The IT chap we used to have (before they made him redundant) signed us up with a firm called ANLX (or anal X as they should be called)

 

Looking for at least a 2M line, with no download size restrictions, as this line must be farmed out through our Cisco router / switch and CAT 5 to the different clients in their offices.

 

Must also have some support who actually look at a problem instead of just pointing the finger of blame at someone else.

 

Any ideas?

Yep, I'd say Easynet too. The business centre we're in in Richmond, and that I occasionally get involved in IT support for, uses 4MB SDSL (I think) from Easynet and I don't remember any problems with it. Certainly a lot fewer than with Demon who they used before.

Do they need a new Centre Manager coz I may well be looking in the next few weeks! :( The company I work for was bought out by an asset stripping property company who have made over 300 of us redundant (there're only 20 of us left now :cry: ) My one is the only centre making a huge profit not only on rent but also on services - I'm good at my job - honest!! :)

my bro in law works for cisco...here is his comments

 

Depends whether he wants ADSL or Cable, or a leased line… leased lines are more expensive, but you get full support from the provider, whereas *DSL and Cable are very much a small/medium business solution…

 

Also with *DSL you’ll get a max of 2Mbps… whereas cabled providers in the London area (telewest and blueyonder) you can get up to 4Mbps connection…

 

Cable may be better for him (if he hasn’t already got it) as the termination is normally Ethernet which would be best going into a Cisco router…

At work we currently have a 2mb nildram line which we have had hardly any probs with, and next Thursday this will be running parallel with a Zen 2mb line as well.

 

We did have Jippee but which has been bought out several times and we experienced DNS issues with them. so had to let them go :tongue:

No, if you turn left out of the station, we're on the main road up by Dixons, Tescos, etc.

I doubt it, to be honest, as they're changing a lot of the office space into a directors' club and I don't think it's big enough to justify a full-time manager. :(

Shame, mind you, I'd never get any work done while looking at all the posh totty in Richmond :bow: :)

Neg.. u can get 8mb *DSL fully hosted from easynet with true business SLA and it's way cheaper than a Leased line

 

you can also get ADSL lines bonded from http://www.Nildram.co.uk ie 4x 2mb Bonded would give you 8mb Down & 1mb up.

Zen - http://www.zenadsl.com. They're on their way to becoming a Tier 1 provider, have consistently been at the top for ADSL speed and reliability, don't charge a fortune, and have excellent customer service. We use them for business connectivity (BGP peering), staff ADSL and some customer services, and they consistently provide good performance. Backend network is well connected, which has a big impact on end user experience. No, i don't work for them :)
