  1. Okay, i'm putting the drivers seat back in, but can i find where to put the small white connector that comes from the seat belt clicker thing.. were i not crazy from trying to get MultiMeters to work i would loose my mind... Thanks in advance.. Rich
  2. The mr2 knob has a more forward thrusting feel whereas the zed one is more upright, not that upright knobs are bad, its just that a forward thrust does the business. If you want Joel, i can send mine over so you can compare both knobs, you know, in a hand off, if that is something that interests you? Rich
  3. you obviously haven't tried the stock MR2 knob, its .... indescribable , so just look at the picture... Whilst it has some similarities with the 300zx stock, it is the little things that make it feel better.
  4. Cheers Jeff, good trick with the PP3 .... I'll second that about the terminals... you just have to move the MM probe a fraction and the contact is lost, i do believe that measuring the inj for resistance is an Art, took me 2 weeks to learn it!! Rich
  5. Cheers Spiff. nice to know someone else has already done it before i have a go. Thanks alic, i did that (sort of) check first with a long screwdriver, It showed be the failed cyl, but once i get the inj out, apart from a MM i just wanted to fry the bu99er Rich
  6. Craig, ~Thanks, i was just wondering, in your quest, did you ever put a voltage across the inj blades to see if it cycled? Rich
  7. Guys i know the 200 is for 0-200 , i was wondering if it is capable of reading and displaying 10-15 ohms, because i have been unable to read 4 injectors from my spare car which are ok, however, that was this mornings thoughts, i have taken out another injector and measured it and voila! 12.3 Ohms... Bl00dy equipment, it'll show you up every time. Craig, you asked what value i was getting, wel as you know trying to see a range on digital readout is difficult to say the least, but it goes from 1600Ohms to -1 to 90 , and then it starts to slowly drop 1 ohm per second, its just a mess , however from the reading on my last injector it proves to me that at least the MM is okay. Thanks Rich
  8. i have a few Multimeters (3) dont ask, and am having trouble measuring the 11-15 Ohm reading on injectors, the resistance scale goes down to 200 ohm as the lowest, would this be able to read the injectors or would it bounce around. So i looked at other MM on the net and a lot are like this 200 600 etc as the lowest. Only the vastly expensive ones read down to 1 ohm. Also the cheap analogue ones read down to 1 as well, is there some difference between the way digi/anal work out the resistance or is it a readout issue. Kind reply's accepted only.... Rich
  9. Just to add the icing on the cake... took a known good injector out of my spare car and tested it with the MM that was considered u/s, as you can see a perfect reading, Shame i had already bought 2 more Multimeters...
  10. Thanks Stephn, you are a shining light in my sea of dark, and its been dark for a very long time... Rich
  11. Stephen, hi. thanks for the idea, unfortunately the whole idea of this exercise was to sell the car, but thanks anyway.
  12. Good Point Simon.. groannnnnnnn... i dont want to take off the plenum....
  13. Joely, thats what my friendly garage man said. He also said as its a na, so no turbos, the inlet would be relatively low pressure and low temp, so he suggested that compound which sets really hard and sticks. Has any one got any experience with this type of material Joely, thanks for the offer of the plenum, might take you up, Thanks a alot mate. Rich ps Chris/Joely, This is what these drugs do to me. As you know i've been looking everywhere for my "other" MM for the last 2 weeks, as most people do they have a vision of what it looks like. well in my minds eye i had this yellow box in a zipped bag, looked in first shed, looked in second shed, looked in living room, looked bleeding everywhere ..... twice. so Today i'm sitting outside contemplating what to do with the above, when BAM!! the yellow box i'm looking for is a room measuring tool with stud locator. the MM is a grey box, 10 mins later there i am looking at it in its fabric pouch, this is what i have to put up with in my life all the time. oh, by the way, the MM was bleeding bu99ered
  14. what do they say " A picture paints a thousand words"
  15. Sure is Stephen. I've carried out the removal of material from the plenum to gain access to the screw. Does anyone know of any Aluminium Welders in the Cambridge area. you'll forgive me if i dont post for a while, i'm seriously thinking of ending it, this Bl00dy car! Arghhhh.... :hang:
  16. Cheers Chris, appreciate that, a lot Thanks guys, looks like a new MM is on my Xmas list...
  17. when the probes are connected the display clears then jumps around in the 0-100 ohm range then settles at 60 ohm counting down... what dpo ya reckon..bu99ered?
  18. Right, letme show you all my MM and if someone can make sense i would appreciate it. switch on and it starts around here, after an hour its up to 19.99. put it on a FI that i am sure is ok and it shows the second image, answers the usual way...
  19. Chris, how old are you Oh and who was the comment "Pointless using test equipment unless you know how to use it. " aimed at
  20. If you want to discuss the workings of a MM take it elsewhere, please
  21. Joely my ohm meter appears to be buggered, it shows anything between 3-16 Mohms, but then so do all the other working ones, so you tell me what i should do other than rip cyl 3 out and put a good one in. i found the wiring harness pin-out chart and when i can i will check the wiring I'm trying to think of ways to tell if the inj is working or not. does any one know what voltage they run at, i could put that V across it to see if the solenoid cycles. Just because i'm not reporting back here doesn't mean i'm not trying stuff, when i can that is , all day today i've been stuck on my bed with my back and busted knee, among other things, but i can still think Rich
  22. Dam, i;ve just been to the car and left a set of tools inc mole grips right next to it, by now the caps probably melted... any one got a working injector?
  23. Thanks Jeff, great run through, you had me at the point you destroyed the injector, i need to remove one intact. Rich
  24. Simon, yep no 3, i'm talking once the plenum has been machined and the top casting removed, so cyl no wont matter, i hope. As interesting as Jeff's run through is, i need to remove an injector off my spare car which has no plenum and i need to remove it intact. Cheers Rich
