Help with insurance
GRRRRRRR - I'm so cross I could crush a grape! Went online to get a car insurance quote for my other car - Altezza RS200. Got a quote for £510 - thought not bad so called up to pay. They asked me if I had any accidents in the last 5 years and I said No... but then they asked even if not my fault - well about a year ago I was coming back to the car with some shopping and watched an old git in a scabby old farmer volvo make a 1 inch scratch on my pristine condition Altezza. As this was the only mark on the entire car I took his registration and details (luckily a chap also saw the scratch and offered to be a witness). I spoke to my insurance company and they claimed on the Volvo guy's insurance.. so the scratch was repaired. I told this story to the insurance company and they have hiked the price up to £625 for the sake of a 1 inch scratch which happened whilst my car was parked up (WITHOUT ME IN IT). Is this fair and should I tell insurance companies about this 1 inch scratch in the future...?

Best car youve Test Driven???
Went on a Ferrari test day (because I've dreamed about them all my life)... the Ferrari 348 didnt amaze me like i was hoping it would and the F355 - although gorgeous - still didnt go like i expected. All in all the biggest grin factor from any car I have driven is hitting the limiter on an NSX Vtec engine in 3rd gear :hyper: .... awesome. Skyline GTR quite nice too

Over 180MPH in a N/A Zed?
Thats what my clock keeps saying every now and then. Do I have the fastest N/A??? NO - I got a speedo problem.. Driving along all okay - suddenly my clock jumps alll the way past the 180MPH mark and just sits there. Steering goes very heavy. Then a couple of seconds later ... it's all back to normal. Seems to be worse after rain or wet roads???? Any advice would be gratefully received...

300zx or poopra?
If it helps I have owned a MkIV Supra N/A a Supra MkIV TT, I currently own a 300ZX N/A and will soon have a 300ZX TT on the way from Japan. The fact that I have moved from the Supra's to the 300zx's tells you my view .... but I am sure others have their own opinion. The Supra N/A is quicker and more responsive than the 300 N/A ... but the 300 just has that extra personality... I enjoy driving the Zed more than the supe... The 300tt feels much more torquey than my Supe TT ... Overall does a couple of a hundreths of a second really matter? Reliabilty tho is a completely different matter!

Interior Retrim
I'm retrimming the tweed panels at the moment - it's really easy mate... just make sure you got the right bits: I use Autoleads Upholstery Glue Spray - spray it then leave it 2 mins before putting vinyl on - more tacky then Loads of Loctite Super Glue for the edges A really good quality Screw Driver - to remove panels etc. Loads of bulldog clips to hold the new leather/vinyl in place until the glue is dry Hairdryer ... although dont burn out your misses top of the range nicky clarke jobbie coz it can have a painful effect on yer knackers! My advice is take your time removing the panels - and when glueing the new vinyl on - get it stuck in the right overall position with the adhesive spray and then focus on one edge at a time using loctite.

Help with membership
Thanks for your help on this.... I thought I'd signed up and paid £20 for this : 300zx.co.uk New Membership300zx.co.uk New Membership This option is for new members to join the 300zx.co.uk club. With this option comes a welcome pack. I've had no communication whatsoever. No email, no post and certainly no welcome pack.... I think membership statement is misleading if a welcome back is not supplied.

Fixed the fuel smell - now got a water leak!
In the last couple of days noticed a smell of fuel.... this morning when i got in - it was so bad that I thought it was dangerous. So I opened the bonnet and found a loose hose clamp under the plenum cover... i managed to tighten the screw with 10 turns!! Great - drove to work without being under the influence of fuel inhalation. Parked up and noticed water pouring out from under the car. If you look from the passenger side just behind the front wheel under the passenger footwell there is a hose - the water seems to be coming from there.... Any ideas what this hose connects to? Thanks

I killed the Zed
I can't believe it.... I'm so sorry for you .... it's a lovely car... I was drooling over it at the weekend. Chin up though - you live another day - perhaps the Zed isnt dead and fingers crossed the insurance company repair it.
