  1. Best one I saw was the current M3 with the plate M3 WKR, now that sounds about right to me.
  2. Just a quick update and to thank everybody for their help, the problem turned out to be an earthing issue, so thankfully nothing major just annoying, but thanks to everyone for their advice though.
  3. Whether the battery or alternator is causing the problem, I believe the battery is not 100%. It feels light on water and the indicator which should be green is now dark as in nothing showing. Halfords said that it needs topping up but the level is ok though and only worry if it goes white, so maybe there is a temporary problem with the battery I dont know, its just so weird. My other car is the wife's nissan sunny 1.4, but I dont know what my battery would do as its more powerful. I'll have to ask around and borrow another battery from one of my mates I think to make sure.
  4. Yeah my battery test before running it on the car was 12.42 volts, when running the engine it went to 14.42 volts and then every 30 seconds or so, was dropping down to 14.32, 14.22 etc etc, to which point after a few minutes I turned it off.
  5. Well first the guy at Halfords told me that the battery was fine and was giving out 12.9 volts when disconnected and said that it wasn't dropping power. When I told him that it was giving out 14.42 volts when engine running and then slowly dropping after a few minutes, he said that the alternator was at fault because it should hold a steady charge all the time and not drop. I cant check the fluid levels because its a sealed battery and I cant get the top off without forcing it, but not sure what this would do to it. I put the battery back on, started the car up but the Hicas & ABS lights are still coming on, and the car jumps when you drive it, so I quickly turned around and parked it back up again.
  6. Well I got the battery tested at Halfords and its fine, in fact turns out that the Alternator is pumping out too much power, and this is why my ABS & HICAS lights are still coming on, so looks like I gotta replace it.
  7. Cheers guys, I will probably take the battery back to Halfords and get them to test it, as you said, it wouldn't increase to 14.4 volts if the Alternator was faulty.
  8. I dont have a battery tester, any other way of finding if battery is faulty, apart from taking it back to Halfords who I got it from, its still under warrranty with about a year and a half left on it?
  9. Hi there, Had a problem with a flat battery the other day, jumped it and then got Hicas & ABS lights flashing. So decided to charge battery up fully and after charging, it was reading a little over 12 volts, put in the Z and then car started fine, did a test once engine started and volts where showing at 14.42, but after revving the car it showed no volt increase and after a couple of minutes running, the volts were slowly decreasing. Is the Alternator faulty which it sounds like? Cheers
  10. I suppose its worth a shot, I did let it idle 20 minutes before I tried to drive it, and at standstill it was running smoothly, but when I drove it, the jumping started and the lights started flashing up.
  11. Well I feel alot better that it might not be a fried ECU. I did find it unlikely to be the cause but these things do happen, so I'll take the advice of disconnecting and connecting first and then run a diagnostic check on it. Thanks guys
  12. I thought as much, I shall try and get another or get it checked out for faults elsewhere. Thanks though.
  13. Hi people, Tried to start the Z up yesterday but battery seemed flat, so I got the jump leads etc etc and it started up straight away. I let it run for a few minutes and then decided to take it for a run. When I move forward and through the gears the Hicas & ABS light flash now and again and as you pick up speed it started jumping like a miss fire or fuel problem, so I decided to turn around and not risk further damage but I have no idea what has happened to it, seemed fine the week before, any ideas at all or have I fried the ECU but jumping it with the leads?. Thanks in advance

  15. Check the stupid price it went for and the description to go with it, some people will buy anything on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8706890812&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
  16. Thanks for that advice, at least I have something to go on now. Not being a hands on person with cars, do I take the assumption that I shouldn't really drive the car, or not much if the clutch throw out bearing is at fault?.
  17. Had a new exhaust fitted at the weekend, and on the way back the speedo was acting very weird, where as it would drop dramatically from say 80mph to 60mph in a flash. It did it a couple of times and I got home fine so didn't thinik anymore of it. Anyway, this morning, started the car up fine, but when I press the clutch pedal down, it makes a noise similiar to a starter motor that gots stuck, but cant be the starter motor as it started fine. I then turned the car off, started up again, depressed the clutch and it didn't make a noise, went through all the gears including reverse, and then depressed once more, and it started again, so I left it as was running late for work. Any ideas at all people?.
  18. Got mine from Zcentre, £30 + delivery charge, they look real nice.
  19. My problem is that it runs out very soon and I've already asked DP, but they cant fit me in until a week next Monday, and the MOT would have expired by then, but thanks anyway though.
  20. Cheers thanks for that, I just wanted a place that I could trust you know!.
  21. Hi there, Haven't had the Zed long enough to get an MOT done myself, but does anybody know of any good centres within or near the SL post code?.
  22. I did a quick search but nothing came up
  23. Where can I get a chrome or chrome looking hand brake handle and a new leather gaitor for my 300zx?.
  24. No, what happens is that they stick my plate on their car, go into London and avoid the charge, but as soon as I found out I told the police and got a crime number etc etc. The police say its happening quite alot, but hopefully no tickets will come my way, but I have proof so can fight the charge if so. They might have only wanted it for that day.
