Datascan: Incorrect speed
I've been having some trouble with the Datascan software. It thinkx i'm moving much slower than I actually am. For example when I'm doing 30MPH, it thinks I'm doing 20 MPH (roughly). This makes the software a bit useless! I have changed he settings from KPH to MPH on the preferences.. but that didn't help. I'm guessing it might have something to do with how my car was converted to MPH from KPH...but I have no idea how this was done. It was converted by SVA UK when i first imported it. Has anyone got any idea on how I could fix this?

Laptop to carputer
I'm planing to do the same thing, instead of an Inverter i've got a power adaptor that runs of the cigarette lighter, similar to: Adaptor Works perfectly with my laptop, but ideally would like to somehow wire it directly to the car's power (but dont have the know-how to do this).

Around Town, Overdrive on or off?
Read somewhere on the forum (can't remeber where now) that it's better to have the overdrive OFF on an automatic around town, as it saves petrol by reducing gear changes. Is this true? I kinda thought the opposite.. Something i saw on the net (e-tyres.co.uk): "-- Use overdrive gears. Overdrive gears improve the fuel economy of your car during highway driving. Your car's engine speed decreases when you use overdrive. This reduces both fuel consumption and engine wear. Most automatic transmission cars will have an overdrive button right on the gearshift. Look for a "D" and/or "O/D". You will see a light on the dash indicating weather it's on or off. Check your owner's manual to be sure. If your car has a tachometer, you should be able to tell by watching your engine's rpm speed on the highway. Buy switching the overdrive on, your rpm's should drop significantly." Opinions please? sonix.

Rubber Bits?
had my first proper MOT (since I imported the car) on the weekend, it passed with absolutely no probs. But while it was up on the rack the mechanic showed me a couple of rubber bits on the front axle that I assume act as some sort of cushoning for the steering. They looked quite worn and broken, what are these called? and where can I replace them. Thanks in advance. sonix.

damm damm damm
No confirmed release dates for PS3, might be 6 months to a year away for the UK. You could be playing Project Gotham Racing 3 / PD Zero on the 360 for all that time! I had no intention of getting the 360, but when i saw the footage for PGR3 and PDZ (and recent pictures of Burnout), i was stunned. IMO the only console really worth waiting for is the Nintendo revolution, it's the only console that's actually gonna change the way we play, instead just adding better graphics to the same old games.

DVD burning software
I would say nero is the best by far, but it also depends on your DVD writer and discs. For example, you burner may be 16 speed, but your discs may only be 4 speed. Get the latest Nero to make sure it supports the maximum speed of you writer and discs. You should be able to burn a dvd with a good setup in 5-10 mins. Try http://www.ukdvdr.co.uk for cheap DVDs (DataWrite Optima Blues are my fav). sonix.

anyone imported a car from japan?!
Hi Compton-Jay, remeber you only need to do the esva test if the car is less then 10 yeard old (1995+), and it cost about £500 plus your car will need to be standard (no body kits etc). If the car's more than 10 years old, all you need is an MOT.

What is your favourite Brand of Head unit?
I've got a H&B CA-5555 CD/MP3 player Good points: SD/MMC card slot (I got a 2Gig card in there) USB slot, (for plugging in flash disks) Pretty nice looking, decent quality sound (45w*4) Woofer output Phono Aux input (for laptopns, ipods etc). All the standard radio features (RDS, Traffic etc) I got it for only £83 online (can't remebre from where, but you should be able to search for it). Bad Points: Does occasionally have trouble reading MP3's from CD, especially if you've got over 80 or so in s single directory, annoying as it just turns itself off suddenly and loses all your EQ and radio settings. No problems like that with the memory card though. Also, it can't read M3U playlists, but if you use Itunes to burn your MP3 cds, not really a problem. And apprantly not all Flash discs fit in the USB slot, but i've never used that anyway. http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=649
