Tbh mate, im struggling to remember which one it is..lol. im thinking it's the top lead that plugs in but may be wrong. Its not that conzult is innacurrate but it takes it's readings from the ecu and the timing gun method is the actual mechanical reading. I've known conzult to say 15deg and the gun to read 35! Always best to confirm it with a gun.

Did you reset the tps on the ecu by unplugging the fly lead on it? You need to let it run for a little while then plug it back in. You may also need to adjust the IACV screw at the back of the engine opposit the batt. Once that's done, get a timing gun on the crank and adjust as required. HTH

Pretty sure that you've tested everything you can mate, appreciate that you don't like swapping components but sometimes it's the only way. If you get one from someone like Jeff, then you'll have piece of mind that it's a good one. PS. I've replied to your rad hose wanted thread ;)

Why not get yourself a knackered one, strip it down and see how it all goes together? Then you'll get a good idea if it's worth attempting. :) Is yours just hard to get in gear and a bit crunchy? If it is then it's probably the syncro's.

Was going to do the paint myself and I did do a fair bit of bodywork, including removing the stone chip. I just couldn't get the results I was after so got it done by a bodyshop in the end. Gearbox's run on magic mate and need little syncro elves to fix them... ...or something like that.. :biggrin:

It's how I learned on mine mate. Couldn't change the oil in a car before. Bought my zed and decided to do a wheeler dealer type job on it, without the selling at the end part. Turned into more of a Zed is Born..lol I've practically rebuilt 90% of mine including a manual conversion, engine swap and hundreds of little jobs as well. The only thing I got professionally done was the paint job. I did all that with just a copy of the service manual and this forum. The only job I wouldn't tackle on my own is a gearbox rebuild. Anything else, I'll do myself :thumbup1: EDIT: Forgot to say that I also rebuilt and refurb-ed the whole rear sub, Rebuilt all the brake calipers and replaced the brake lines. I've learn't to do so many things on the car and it's been really enjoyable. The best bit is being able to say; 'I did that'..

I'm not a fan of gauges in the din, always think it takes your eyes to far from the driving line. I know that a good few people are fine with it though, so probably just me :). Pretty sure that the 52mm gauges fit in there mate. So if that's what your after then why not..lol Don't know what you've got but maybe your volt and an AFR type one?

Best way to learn. Just need to arm yourself with all the info you can and dive in. :)
