I think they are just trying to save on wear with the bulbs...

There should be some rubber stapled to it in each corner where it may touch the underside of the car, maybe one of these has fallen off? The guard is held on by 4 10mm bolts and can be taken off quite easily for a look.

Daft question but have you checked the bulbs?

I used to suffer from anxiety attacks a few years back but I got some counselling on how to control them and I haven't had one since. I found taking large deep breaths and exhaling slowly helped, I also told myself that I wasn't going to die. These days I just accept that I can't do anything about things out of my control and therefore it's pointless worrying about it.

EGR Valve, Throttle body (plenum) water bypass, AIV, PRVR, Carbon Canister are the main ones. You can also remove the precats just after the turbos and replace them with elbows.
