Picked up my zed 2day :hyper: :hyper: , after nearly 2 weeks and a full head gasket rebuild :dance: :dance: (see here for details- http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=38002 ) she is absolutely flyin.....didnt realise how much power was being lost before the HG's went bang :D :D :D have got to be careful for a week tho :nono: but early signs are that another beaZt has been awakened !!!! one question.. have had an aftermarket oil pressure gauge fitted, when I am driving fairly slowly..(round town etc.) it is about 20-30 psi, on boost it increases to 40, but when am stopped it bobbles about all over the place!! is this normal? also when the dump valves fire, the revs dip v low afterwards -is this the d/v's leaning out the engine? if so is there a remedy?? oh and Ryan.. apparently it was the butterfly valves causing the tickover trouble!!!!??? thanks for the input fella ;)

actually I fitted one of these to my missus xr poo.. and it did make a difference on acceleration, much snappier response and fuel econ. just my 5p's worth ;)

wotcha max.. the best person you could talk to on that is Baggins, or Mr Duff of course If I was you I would change the bottom rad hose for a steel one as for the rest ask the pros!!

Evenin all.. Thought you might like an update on the repair after I blew the shite out of the head gasket! Had a huge kick in the misters yesterday, I took out a Warranty when I bought it and thought it would be covered.. turns out they will pay out - 250 quid max!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so have to stump up the bill meself again ah well such is life Well it was found to be the bottom hose as the cause, the N/S h/g failed totally and the O/S one had just gone. Since the engine has been stripped we have found - a tappit gone, all the camshaft seals are as hard as rock!, the car had had a ebc fitted b4 I bought it and it had been removed incorrectly thus nackering my boost!! (Ryan you were right!! ;)) so the Hg's have been replaced, the heads skimmed, the bores de-glazed and polished, all seals replaced, the turbos plumbed in correctly, 'stat replaced, cambelt changed, re-coolanted(is that a word??), oil and filter changed,rad has been pressure tested and is fine!, bottom hose replaced with a steel one, my water temp, and oil pressure gauge plumbed in, upgraded oil cooler being fitted, and bleed valves being fitted. It is all being put together now (well not NOW but you know what I mean :) !!) and should be back on the road Saturday (Yippee!!) I will report back on how she is running!! takeiteasy all, Speedy

saw a Topless z very nice condition, champagne white in colour, 2 tone OZ 5 spokes, aftermarket front bumper. first this morning in Chaxhill Garage on the A48 Glos about 10 ish and this evening at Elton jcn of the A4151 and A48 about 6 ish wasnt in the zed as it is being rebuilt!!

Have been without the blue beastie for exactly 8 days now(blew the HG on the way back from the pod :cry: :cry: luckily still under import warranty :dance: ).... and the strain is starting to show. Have been driving the wifes XR poo since (looks hilarious to the onlooker as it looks like they built the car up round me -am 6'4" plus and the wrong side of 19stone!! :rofl: :rofl: ) and have now pinched me mothers Pajero (still makes me laugh that "Pajero!" means w*nker in spanish!! ;) :D ) Car is booked in next wednesday and may have her back b4 the weekend :dance: but most likely the tuesday after the bank holiday (no cruisin for me then :() any suggestions as to what to do to make the time go quicker till she is back???????????
