Evenin all.. Thought you might like an update on the repair after I blew the shite out of the head gasket!

 

Had a huge kick in the misters yesterday, I took out a Warranty when I bought it and thought it would be covered.. turns out they will pay out - 250 quid max!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so have to stump up the bill meself again ah well such is life

 

Well it was found to be the bottom hose as the cause, the N/S h/g failed totally and the O/S one had just gone. Since the engine has been stripped we have found - a tappit gone, all the camshaft seals are as hard as rock!, the car had had a ebc fitted b4 I bought it and it had been removed incorrectly thus nackering my boost!! (Ryan you were right!! ;))

 

so the Hg's have been replaced, the heads skimmed, the bores de-glazed and polished, all seals replaced, the turbos plumbed in correctly, 'stat replaced, cambelt changed, re-coolanted(is that a word??), oil and filter changed,rad has been pressure tested and is fine!, bottom hose replaced with a steel one, my water temp, and oil pressure gauge plumbed in, upgraded oil cooler being fitted, and bleed valves being fitted. It is all being put together now (well not NOW but you know what I mean :) !!) and should be back on the road Saturday (Yippee!!) I will report back on how she is running!!

hi mate you might be able to help me???

after some noise from my engine iam now going to have to strip down to see if the lifters are buggerd so i want to change as many parts while the engine is in bits!!!

what sort of parts should i replace before they go and have another strip down?

and wheres the best place to get the parts,

it should be stunning when I get it back (never mind fingers I am crossing everything!!!!!!)

the best person you could talk to on that is Baggins, or Mr Duff of course

 

If I was you I would change the bottom rad hose for a steel one as for the rest ask the pros!!

cheers mate will speak to baggins as he knows my car as he fitted my chip,

ive already done the rad pipe kit :bow: i think ive got a hydrloic lifter gone so needs to get stripped down

Weird theory about the bottom rad hose bulging ?? My car that the head gasket has gone on has got a brand new top and bottom hose on now but I suppose that it was a case of too little too late, the damage must have already occured by the time I decided to get my grubby little hands dirty....
