  1. For the first time my Zed went on the motorway today. Up until today z has been only on A roads. After staying too long on the garage, I gave the zed a good thrash... :smash: Oh boy, I didn't thought my zed could drink that fast... and I thought my bike was expensive. What a drive, my instinct tells me you are on the speed limit and when I'm about to hold the speed the Z screams "there are still unused gears" :duffer: what can I say... Just a question though, mine is only a N/A how are those TT owners coping
  2. cost please? I might need to do mine soon...
  3. Not superstitious but one heck of a day. My Zed didn't start this morning, had to jump start it. I had booked to fit the alarm today but the battery was so bad the guys couldn't fit it. Had to reschedule and had to get a new battery £££ :( And there seems to be a misfire but not sure, it could be the exhaust blowing. Worst of all passenger side front wheel is scraping the guard on full lock. Do I need an alignment check??? Man what a day!!!
  4. Thanks guys, I won't be doing that again...
  5. Is it not a good idea to start the engine and warm it up? This is a N/A and I thought it would be a good idea...
  6. Hi, I have had my zed under hybernation for a couple of months and wonder what to check. I usually start it up and idle for about 20mins mostly two times a month but didn't drove it for 3 months. Had a quick spin to get fuel a couple of days ago and drove it to work today. Feells a little different, nothing wrong but just not quite the same. So just wondering what to check? Oh, I checked coolent and oil levels... Any maintanence that I should do?

What more can you expect? you've got a zed... by the way I'm in sheffield and I know there are few around here. We even had a Yorkshire meet recently (sadly I couln't attent it) :)
  9. I got mine last week... Thanks and sorry I couldn't confirm it. was a little busy lolz
  10. Looking forward to it... I'll be in London for an airport drop on 11th, so fingers crossed... Thanks for the info...
  11. Mine is a Yamaha R1...
  12. Just to let you know, I've also got a white zed (M reg) in sheffield... But it's a N/A and doesn't have a raised spoiler and has a custom body kit. it wasn't me... :)
  13. Thanks Rich666, surely will be removing it.... I just wanted to confirm what the heck that thing is and what it does and I thought you get more power with richer fuel maps. :smash: I also found this link, http://www.ps-powersport.com/afrs.html It doesn't look like the thing in my zed but has the same name :)
  14. More googling resulted me with which I found in this forum. The discription of the resetter is exactly the same as mine... Can this be true? Can you get more power with lean fuel maps? :headvswal
  15. I do get a slight exhaust pop sometimes but I thought this is normal with a Zed... please correct me if I'm wrong. Haven't seen any flames though lol I'm no expert but logically less air means less fuel to keep the AFR, but in reality it is getting more air with less fuel (I don't know whether this is what you meant by overfuelling, sorry) obviously changing the tuned AFR in the combution chamber. I can't think of any performance advantages but with less fuel you could be getting an economy advantage with the price of power. May be this is because of the different fuel used in the car. And since mine is a Jap import this thing is fixed to use it with UK normal fuel. Please correct me if I'm wrong... By the way I started looking into this coz I'm getting feeling a power loss at lower rpms. Still haven't put my zed into a datascan or a conzult but hoping to do soon :) Then again... is that what an Air Flow Resetter is doing?
  16. Hi guys, My Zed is an Jap import and came with an Air Flow Resetter (I was told that it was an Air Flow Controller but it is labled as Air Flow Resetter) which has an on off switch and a controller... I googled all around and only got one hit from a forum saying but it is not confirmed. Can anyone tell me what this is and what it does? Mine is a N/A and I was told by Legrath in another thread to remove the Air Flow Controller since I have no advantage of it and will be causing running problems. Legrath if you are reading this is it the same with Air Flow Resetter? Could you (or anyone) please give me more details on what this Air Flow Resetter is and is it just enough to switch it off if I want to remove it... Thanks
  17. Never thought that zed is such an advance piece of machinary. Thanks for the info... I'll have a look into the things you mentioned. By the way, what does the air flow controller do? And can I remove it by my self? (I don't know how to though) Is it just enough to switch it off from the control box?
  18. Hi guys, I'm a total newbie to the zed n' I've got a 1995 N/A Jap import. It is basically standard apart from the exhaust and some sort of a air flow control. I really don't know what this air flow control is but it has a on/off switch n' a controller ranging 1-9. When in idle I tried switching the air flow controller off and the rev counter slighly increased n' settled around 1000rpm. With the air flow controller on the rev is slightly below 1000rpm (750-800). So my problem is I'm experiencing some sort of a power loss at lower rpms. This is noticable when I speed up from a stop in the normal cruising style. But if I'm more aggressive :nana2: it is not noticable. I wonder why this is... So far I filled my tank only once n' I used usual juice but I'm hoping to use high octane juice from next time... Could it be the fuel I'm using? Or is it something to do with engine tuning? Or is this normal? I appreciate your help... thanks
  19. Thanks guys for all the warm welcomes. Having probs with insurance... Tried Adrian Flux but no luck. The best quote I got was about £2200 just for the TPFT. (Adrian Flux gave a quote for £7k) I have a another car with full comp cover so I just need an insurance to drive the zed to the guarage n' to the car shows. May be I'm looking for the wrong kind of quote... What should be the insurance I need to look for to have this as a show car and just drive around? Even a short term insurance would be fine for me. By the way I'm 23 n' have 5+ NCB (this is the 6th year) n' my zed is a 1995 non-turbo import.
  20. Thanks mate. still sorting out the insurance and once it is sorted I'll be flying around and hopefully doing some tuning etc. Definitely will be needing the help from you guys. Thanks again...
  21. I'm around Norfolk Park, where r u abt? Nice to know someone near by...
  22. Hi, I'm from Sheffield. I recently bought a N/A 300zx (Fairlady import 1995) and hoping to see some activities around.
