Really sorry to hear this mate, you must be gutted!!!, Thing is as the security on most cars has improved over the years, so this is now the easiest option as in to get the keys as regards the immobiliser these are not expensive to buy as a stand alone unit but if you want it to be insurance approved you will need a qualified technicians installation certificate Hth Chris
