Hey Dan, im having a bit of gyp with the z, it appears that i have a dual map (whatever the f^^k that is). Would your conzult what-sit be able to differentiate between the maps?
  3. Just taken it out for a test drive and now im only getting 0.4 bar:( Thats with every combination of buton and even with the b/c off. 0.4bar is what about 6psi which sounds like safety boost yes? I just did the ecu diagnostic and i returned a code 55, but i dont get it right, if the engine isnt running its not going to get any det is it? So am i supposed to run the engine then turn engine off and then do the ecu diagnostic? I have done some searching but the answer to this simple question escapes me.

Ahoy..been keeping me head down a bit latley i know but put me down for an almost definatley Dan please, and the z will be attending.
  5. Succes! Got the boost controller going, dodgy power wire connection. So all thats left to do is take her out and see what the b/c has been set to. Assuming standard tubs/injectors and intercoolers i spose 1 bar would be about my high end limit right??? Ill be quite interested to see the difference, she's not slow at the moment but not exactly brown trousers material when you put your foot down.:hyper:
  6. Dual map eh? Whats the idea behind that then? The wires go to the chip which sits in a socket but not directly onto the board, it appears to be on top of something. look see So this looks/sounds like a dual map set up? the switch will be to use the alternate map for running more boost then?
  7. So i open it up and see if its socketed yeah? I suppose i should check the intercoolers aswell to see if they r standard. I would like to turn up the boost a bit, if only i could figure out the god damn ancient boost controller:headvswal
  8. switch wires on the left, and the ecu has a sticker saying "racing technology INTEC", would this suggest an upgrade has been done?
  9. sorry, you guys are quick today! the wires go directly into the main ecu (big gold coloured 1 right?) tell you what ill take a picture and wop it up. Im trying to determine the extent of the modifications on my motor, i never actually bothered to look until now and the person i got it from wouldnt have had a clue anyway!
  10. the wires go into the left hand side of the ecu. I was thinking it mught have something to do with the boost controller that was fitted but the switch doesnt appear to do anything. Also i have an suspicion that its been chipped, whats the easiest way to remove the ecu ?
  11. alright people, theres a on/off switch in my glove box and having traced the wires they appear to go to the ecu? Any ideas why a switch would be wired to the ecu?
  12. How wide is the nut mate? You can pick up the spanners for the off the well know auction site. I do have a 65mm one going spare if it will fit?
  13. Hi Ghodula, are you in a mega hurry? Mine might have to go, it depends on if i have a job or not at the end of the month. I got a import tt auto your welcome to come and have a look/go. Dannyzx on here has conzult and hes a good fella, he put my motor on it and checked it out when i got it.
  14. Plenty of threads about this mate. I drive a tt auto and i get 10 or 11 mpg on short journeys on a & b roads but i do give it some welly, after all why get a z if you just want to pootle about. On longer journeys it does do alot better, i havnt worked it out but its probably close to 20mpg. Mine isnt a daily driver so fuel price doesnt bother me that much, saying that though im now paying nearly 30p a litre less than i was 6 months ago when i bought it so its getting a bit more use.:hyper:
  15. Had a quick look over the fto at the weekend and it became appart that it was fooked. Lotts of rust at the rear end so.... The zed stays. With super unleaded at 89.9p i think she's staying with me. I would like the 300zx bit on the back to light up with the headlights, is there a kit you can get to do that??
  16. The chap i bought my z from had two hand fulls of those, he was a white, older version of B.A Baraccus. Never been pulled in the z, i suppose its because im hardly ever in it. Only been pulled once and that was in my supra, they did a proper good cop bad cop routine, one was a complete tw^t wilst the other was a reasonable bloke.
  17. That has occured to me having had a supra, 200sx and now the z. Im trying to compromise here but i should have known the fto wouldn't get much support from a you fenatics:xxx: Ive had a look at the forum and seen the specs on the models, id have thought they would be pretty nippy cars though. All this talk of buying them for thewife/mum isnt inspiring
  18. Im only going to go for it if its a steal, its been parked up for 3 years with the exception of a trip to the mot centre. The people who own it are a greedy /rich pair of buggers so they will probably rather it sat there rotting than take afew hundred for it. On the other hand though id be propper gutted to sell the z, its just beautiful and so far hasnt missed a beat (crosses fingers).
  19. Alright folks, ive been offered a fto quite cheap and was considering getting rid of the z and the escort and just having the one car. I hardly get to drive the z and its been faultless since ive had it. I know ill regret getting rid of the z but has anyone any here owned a fto and would like to give me their thoughts? Do they rust in a particular lpace or have common problems that i should look out for? It has been parked up for a good while so ill have to take her for a spin and have a good look around it. Thanks.
  20. I took mine out the other night when it was bloody freezing and it was going like a rocket, cold air should make it run better. If you didnt go over 2000rpm then the turbos wont be doing much if anything, surely its gunna be sluggish. Take it for a proper spin and see how it goes.
  21. They're for making coats bud.
  22. You want to be more worried about what they will be humpin, my x g-friends slippers were a favourite for her bunny and a friend of mine had a bunny that humped his neighbours cat if it ventured into the garden!!
  23. Wether it should be left alone or not if they can create something like jurassic park someone will, imagine the money it would generate. After all, who wouldnt want to go and feed a goat to a tyranasuras or better still hunt one.
  24. Yep the fibres are really just for anti cracking, they dont add strength really and as its not blistering heat atm it shouldnt dry quick enough to cause cracks anyway. Id be buggered if id mix 9 ton of concrete, by the time youve done all that it wont be much dearer to have it delivered and a hell of a lot less effort.
  25. AndyP has a good point, a friend of mine has recently started a business supplying and installing solar power and wind turbines and according to him he's flat out. He is looking to get a another installation team. I thik he caught it just right really as "high energy prices" are a close second to the "economic downturn" whenever you switch oon the telly or radio.
