  6. exactly, but by then the cut-off date (exactly a month [28 days] after you receive your 6th bill) would have passed and therefore the claim becomes invalid. By the time you relise anything is wrong its too late. Bast8rds!

  9. The girlfriend has a mobile phone contract with one of those cash back offers where you have to send a certain number of bills after a certain number of months. Well in her impatience she rushed off her claim a month too early and it has taken 3 months for the company to respond saying her claim was invalid and now the expiry date has passed so they can't do anything. Basically she sent 5 bills instead of 6 and in emails to her they said they wouldn't process the claim until the cut-off date (ie expiry date) so she had no way of knowing that she had done something wrong until it was too late. However in their terms and conditions it says "Your claim will be processed once the relevant statements have been received" which obviously did not happen and she sent them recorded delivery 2 months before the cut-off date. So they had plenty of time to check and tell her she needed to send another bill. A simple phone call would have sorted it all but they never seem to answer so she couldn't ever get through. She knows she made a mistake by not reading everything properly and all that but is there anything she can do to get her cash back (almost £400!). Terms and condititions copied and paste from the site: Cash back offers will only be payable by us after 6 months of the contract commencement date. In order to initiate your claim you will be required to submit copies of the service provider's monthly statement. To claim, after 6 months all statements up to and including a statement indicating the contracts have been connected over 6 months must be submitted. Please submit your copies of your mobile phone statements to the following address: Contract Offers .......... ...... ........ ......... Customers must include their offer voucher with any claim. This voucher is sent 7-10 working days from date of connection (For connections from 17/01/05). Claims received without an offer voucher cannot be processed. Your claim will be processed once the relevant statements have been received. Should you not receive communication from us within 28 days of sending the statements, contact customer services at ............. Your claims need to be received in our offices within 7 months from the date of commencement of your contract. Late claims cannot be processed and will invalidate all subsequent rebate payments. Cash backs are payable within 60 days of ...... processing your bills, by BACS payment directly in your account. Cash backs will ONLY be payable in the nominated account for direct debit. To validate a claim you must submit the original statements. Copies and faxes will not be accepted. Half of your cashback is paid on processing of your first set of statements. The remaining half of your cashback is paid upon completion of your contract. Please submit the statements to the same department you used for the first cashback claim. You must submit your final 6 monthly statements to us within 28 days of your 12th month. Once the statements have been received, your claim will be processed and the remaining half of your cashback will be credited to your bank account. WE RECOMMEND YOU RETAIN COPIES OF THE STATEMENT AS WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RETURN ORIGINAL COPIES. DUE TO THE LEVEL OF STATEMENTS RECEIVED WE CANNOT CONFIRM RECEIPT. THEREFORE WE SUGGEST WHEN POSTING THE STATEMENTS YOU USE RECORDED OR SPECIAL DELIVERY.

  14. sound like th box going in and out of lock-up
  15. lol me too! nice wheels :)
  16. mark your confusing two different types of bearings, you mean get a turbo with a 360 deg thrust bearing as its more robust and have roller bearings fitted instead of journals ;)
  17. pm eric lymon, he will know for sure nick
  18. theres a impreza injector you can use iirc 440cc or something like that
  19. i think that's just the full scale range, the effective range is obviously much less, my coilovers could drop about 200mm theoretically but it aint happening is it :p
  20. Yes, they will, but i don't see the point in spending ~£100 on something that I can do for free. Just take it nice and slow for the last minutes or two of your journey, and if you can let your engine idle for a minute or two when you park up. Just leave it on while you take the face off you head unit, and get your wallet/sunglasses/whatever. Personal preference I suppose.
  21. Just came into my head this morning and thought it'd be a good idea to post it on here. Couple of things I learnt from my time at Holset. 1) The majority of damage to the bearings and shaft of a turbo occurs within the first few seconds of cold start. We all know that if we leave the zed standing for a week we get the tatatatatat from the hydraulic lifters. In the same way every time you turn off your engine oil drains away from the bearing housing of the turbocharger and the oil feed. If you have left your car standing for a while and even if you have not, its a good idea to crank your engine for a few seconds before starting it. This builds oil pressure and ensures oil gets to the dry bearings much faster than if you start up immediately. A lot of truck engines we made turbos for would have this electronically built in (the engine would fire up after a set amount of time eg 4 secs). 2) Another thing on bearings, never rev you engine then turn it off, yes I have seen it done, it may sound or look cool but your tubs will hate you! 3) The majority of damage to the oil seals occurs in the first few minutes after a hot shutdown. Hot shutdown meaning turning your engine off a very short time after running it with a high load. At full load conditions your turbine housing sees temperatures of ~600 deg C, this heat radiates from the housing and is also conducted down the shaft to the bearings and the rest of the turbo. The oil as well as lubricating the the turbo also helps to cool it, if you have a water cooled bearing housing then its even better (I don't know if our cars do). But in a hot shutdown situation the heat gets conducted back from the turbine to the stagnant oil in the bearing housing which begins to break down at ~130 deg C, if the oil gets over 150 deg C it breaks down completely. The oil cokes up the bearings so the clearances get all messed up, the black residue scores the bearings and the shaft. The oil around the seals cokes up the seals and they will soon become useless. If you want a turbo timer then get one, but you only need to let your engine idle for 1-2 mins before shutting it down to avoid this. HTH Yaseen
