  1. Hi m8, As far as i'm aware the PCV valves have been done by the previous owner (have a receipt for them).... It always smokes on first start up (only one side).. and will smoke if i rev it to say 1500 after just starting up. It does seem to smoke a little on idle, but is more apparent when blipping throttle after idling for a bit.... i'm not too sure if it smokes coming off throttle when giving it some will check later. Seems to be getting worse and not better, this all started after a replacing small hose that was split and was causing a boost leak. Thanks, Stu
  2. So.... 27 views and not one person can say YAY or NAY if it is indeed turbo seals? may as well go back to sxoc... :-P lol -Stu
  3. So can we all form some sort of suit against the fuel manufacturers for causing DET or similar to our precious engines? What a joke. Ecu tweak fix it at all? -Stu
  4. AndyP - Just realised i missed a whole lot out of what I was saying (bloody vmware) Anyway in relation to what you were saying - Some boards force 333MHz if the PSU is not giving enough juice.. and of course lower clock speeds, but the machine will still function as normal yet not report correct RAM in place. -Stu
  5. I have had that in the recent past and it turned out it was the PSU not giving enough juice - solved with 400watt PSU. Bah easier to have hands on contact with said faulty box. -Stu
  6. Didn't see he was running new bios.... I went into ANAL-ytical mode... lol Computers.. my living... scourge of my life.. 24/7/365.. :( lol -Stu
  7. Well mate all of the above that I mentioned have worked for me when working on very rusty 17yr old jap crap. :D Good luck - Always plaster with WD40 before attempting to budge bolt (if no heat available). -Stu
  8. What sticks are they - make - name on all chips, any identification looking numbers? On boot up - can you see what date your bios shows? Perhaps all you need is a flash update mate. Quite common with athlon64 boards as well, altho still sort of current they are somewhat long in the tooth. -Stu Edit either 64 or XP board :) sorry... heads up my arse tonight...
  9. are all the sticks ECC or non ECC? - dont think thats been mentioned :) -Stu
  10. expanding on the drilling thing - could you not drill a pilot say 5mm and hammer a torx into that and remove it?
  11. do you have a dremel? you could cut a slot and try use a big flat head, levered with a spanner... applying heat to it will help too. Or - plug weld a nut on if you have a mig handy? just my (probably useless) 2p worth. -Stu
  12. Hi All, New to 300sx ownership but very familiar with 200sx's anyways... ive done some digging about on the forums and believe I have found an answer but wonder if anyone could confirm? I believe the rear oil seals of the turbo on the pass side of my car have gone as when you rev from cold start smoke comes from that side or if you come to a halt an idle for a few minutes and then rev, smoke appears from same side and does smell oiley. Does this indeed sound like turbo seals, or could it be something else? - I'm sure I read that the seals were prone to going around the 60K miles mark. TIA for your advice. -Stu
