sorry to hear that. glad your ok!
  2. my 19" pc monitor has one dead pixel but you kind of get used to it after a while. my mate kept taking the pee out of it, until he bought a new pc from pc world and had the same problem
  3. lol sad git. he needs lip reduction treatment. ps hes not german hes eastern european, probably getting ready to come over here in the back of a lorry
  4. i really PMSL at TDi drivers - feel like winding the window down and saying "i wouldnt be too proud of your turbo mate, it's there to help your car go up hills!"
  5. Jay ive got my head in my hands reading that :( dont get too disheartened tho - much worse can go wrong with a Z than that! im sure you can get it back to full glory in next to no time.
  6. now thats just nice Nick  really must get myself one of those :D
  7. ah thats quite good. i might give them a try. thanks for the link knock_knock
  8. i have a similar problem at the moment - when revved slowly the car makes a rattling noise like a diesel engine - fingers cross i think its the VTC springs. by standing at the bonnet and manipulating the two throttle springs with your thumbs to rev the engine you can get a better idea of what the sound is like and where it is coming from. good luck mate.
  9. i bet she does come on Toshi!
  10. thanks for the kind words guys, and many thanks indeed to Royal and Steve007 for the pm's   like i said to them, the support you have all given me makes the club an honour to be part of
  11. come on somebody!! bugger - tried to send a pm but it wont let me, youre not a subscribed user! have you thought about dropping it off at a Z specialist?
  12. not much traffic at all - just the occasional 200mb download. the data is one large zip file - all legal and decent stuff and copyright free etc. cheers Martin, i'll see how i get on with any freebies going [skinflint aint i!] and pm you if i dont get any luck. looks like it's Neil's van at the moment - how much do you charge mate?
  13. i spoke to an expert on the phone and from my description it sounds like it could be the VTC springs - the noise is like something rattling against the cam end cover and is coming from the front of the engine (as you stand at the bonnet). they're going to be taking a look at it soon.
  14. well ive finally found some time to get my ass in gear - just spent £40 on books from ebay for things like ASP.NET, SQL, Networking [my wak point], VB.NET, CGI, Perl etc. ive applied for 3 jobs so far and got a telephone interview on Wednesday  never done one of those before. ive aimed at jobs that have said 1 or 2 years experience [i dont have any but i might get away with it]
  15. put it this way - a waste gate stuck open is better than a wastegate stuck closed!! other than piping im a bit stuck for ideas - if you did have a boost leak that caused your tubbies to be so slow at building up the car would whistle like a bitch im sure!
  16. great to hear its sorted mate! with hindsight its probably best to send everything via registered mail and get the buggers to sign for it.
  17. i'll be over in the Isle of Wight :( (but still :) )
  18. surprised a techie hasnt come on here yet possible other cause may be a wastegate partially stuck open i know youve mentioned jets but you dont have an electronic boost controller installed do you? are the jets installed the right way around? [clucthing at straws here] there's a small pipe coming from the driver's side of the balance bar - only about 5/10cm long - is that secure at both ends?
  19. hardcore!!! i'll leave the nose for that freak and make a start everywhere else
  20. lol, that was really clever! fastest ive seen a supra go
  21. aftermarket gauge is to show how much boost you will be running as stock gauge barely goes past stock boost. probably pick one up for £20-£40 for the budget ones, up to £150 for the dog's danglies ones. fairly simple to install yourself. as for the ecu - the stock one will only map fuel up to stock boost levels [mebbe a little more] and so an aftermarket one is vital to allow for the correct fuelling when you are into double-figure PSI. the whole ecu unit is probably £200+, but it is more common to purchase an aftermarket EPROM (like JWT, or speak to John Dixon on this club), de-solder the old EPROM and then solder in a socket which will allow you to plug in the aftermarket EPROM. finally, jets cost tuppence as they are standard mig welding tips (smaller size = higher boost), 1.2mm will be about 11/12psi, 1mm will be about 13/14psi and 0.8mm will be 15/16psi (too risky on stock setup), or a propor boost controller is in the £180-£350 range.
  22. I've got about 200mb which i need to make available for download. this data will grow in size and eventually double. can anyone recommend a free (here's hoping) hosting jobbie? all the ones ive tried so far require something on the side to keep your data (like posting up in forums, etc.)
  23. things you need to do are the following (in this order) a) get her serviced so you know she's in good nick b) get an aftermarket boost gauge c) get an aftermarket ecu (or eprom with socket) d) go ahead and fit either boost jets (cheap as chips [literally] but can be unstable) or a propor electric controller
