i can no way afford to upgrade tubs/internals/intercoolers/injectors etc. but should i ever need to replace my stock tubbies (touch wood i dont) i would go for the next ones up - and tweak the boost controller up a bit more (say, 15-15.5psi) that way you are still just within the safe limits of the whole system, yet you can get away with the odd boost spike.

does it sound like someone sucking through a straw? if so i had the same problem. it was a leak at the exhaust fannymould. when you try and boot it, can you hear a kind of growl/splutter coming from behind the driver's side dashboard?

what a great game! just got a bit boring when you had to shove the sticks back in. but the tension was immense, especially when you thought you'd got hold of a bad one but you fluke it somehow. took years off my life expectancy that game did!
