What a Supra!
The number of gauges in that car remind me of the Apollo Command Module. I shipped a Corvette from NY to L'pool for under £1K, so £8K is ballooks.

autobox not getting 2nd gear
Hi Dewi. Sorry to hear about this. Sounds like maybe a sticking hydraulic valve. Not too sure tbh, maybe the other guys on here will know more. Hope your otherwise okay.

plenum bypass
I managed it on the driver's side. There's a link to a TTNet article on here somewhere and if you look at what's being bypassed, you can leave the old tubes still on the plenum and just bypass them. Definately possible.

Dogging funny as fook
I remember finding what I though was a deserted dirt track near my home. No-one ever went down there because it was sooo bumpy and riddled with suspension damaging pot holes. Anyway, after a while my girlfriend's face suddenly lit up and she screamed "what the f**k." I looked behind me and couldn't believe it - there was a bloody car right behind me. I dived into the driver's seat and floored it out of there. Unfortunately for me he made all the same turns as me so I finished up driving through the centre of Preston in the buff. Not funny at all - well not at the time anyway!

amusing number plate

Am I The Youngest Zed Owner?
I remember my bro paying £1400 to insure his Renault 5 Turbo after completely destroying his 280ZX and I thought he was crazy. I guess with inflation, that would probably be around £5K nowadays. After seeing what he did to his Z, which only had half the power, I'd recommend going on a skid pan or a big empty car park to get used to that Z's handling first!

Anyone had VVT problems?
Mine was quiet at tickover.

Government studies
That's the bit which shocked me. Which planet are they on?

Government studies
Maybe the persons responsible for this stupid study should be laid off - that might save some money. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2008/07/07/eafarm107.xml

Anyone had VVT problems?
Mine had a similar problem until I replaced the VVT springs.

Later ptu fitting
Should be a doddle to install this. I ended up rewiring mine, because I only got the S2 plugs with bare ends!

Important Petrol Tips! ~A must read!~
This tip is incorrect. I used to work on petrol pumps and they don't recover any vapour. The extra tube in the ZVA nozzle is a sensing tube, which cuts delivery when the tanks gets near-full. Vapour recovery systems ARE used, but only in the forecourt's tank piping, not the pumps. I used to carry out high-accuracy measure check for Elf and I've seen poor measures from diesel pumps, when the main tanks are running dry. The air-separator inside the pump doesn't work as well with diesel as it does with petrol. Basically if you hear a loud hissing noise from the side of the pump when filling up a diesel tank, it's best to stop and go elsewhere, because some air will often get through and be metered. I had a big argument once with a Sainsbury's area manager because he wanted all the pumps set at the minimum legal limit (-150ml/20l in 1994.) I called in Trading Standards and they told me to set them at strike. I'll never forget that arrogant tw@t's face. I never filled up there again after that.

Autobox problem(again!!!)
I wouldn't keep driving it until you've done what Paul said. If the filter is blocked then every extra mile could be causing more internal wear.

I spotted myself
What's a Zed? - Oh yes sorry, I forgot - I own one:D

WTF is Blu-Ray
HD is new. There's still improvements being made all the time. I'd advise anyone to wait a while because there's still one hell of a lot of refinements to be made and standards to be agreed. There are also many new and better video processing chips, which haven't yet found their way into products yet. Home camcorders will soon be capable of 1080p at 60 frames/sec, so I'm hanging on for that one.

The Whereabouts of Andy Duff?
Hi Steve. Sounds like you'd be better off getting the car and all its bits back to Llandudno. There's nothing on there that we couldn't finish. Just a thought.

LPG Route anyone?
I thought the same back in 1999, but it's only gone up from 36p/l to 50p/l in 9 years.
-
HICAS still doing stupid things!
I have a similar issue, whereby the car slightly steers under heavy acceleration. I'm convinced that one of the subframe bushes needs to be replaced and that the HICAS is fine. Are your bushes new?

LPG Route anyone?
My Vectra runs on LPG and it is definitely saving me money. Petrol is 1.17p per litre and LPG is 50p, so it's less than 1/2 price, whatever the consumption. It doesn't shoot up in price when a nodding donkey breaks in Texas either, like petrol does.
