  1. Thanks for that. As long as nothing will blow up that'll be fine, and running rich....means more boost eh. Cheers, Darren.
  2. Hello all, I have a JWT chip (not ECU just the chip) which I was going to put in my car this weekend (a 1993 UK spec, TT, manual with a 1994 engine!). Now, I've heard that the later cars changed their ECUs. Anyone know when this was from? Anyone else got a 93+ car and chipped it with a JWT? I don't know much about the chip - it was just described as a JWT for a manual TT. The code on the chip is just the manufacturers details for the chip. Doubt an EPROM reader would tell me much either - or am I wrong there? Anyway, just wondering if there IS any differences with these things and what the consequences could be if it's wrong. Cheers, Darren.
  3. Just found this link to the 300zx 'specials' page. Not sure if they're much cheaper but quite a selection. http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/specials/300zx.htm
  4. He he, I've had this before. I think in mine the smoke was from the clutch fluid that was leaking (when opened bonnet smoke was coming up from around the master cylinder) and the smell was definately clutch. Think my clutch has some air in (from the leak) and the bite position shifts when it gets hot. So tends to slip more when I thrash it cos it's difficult to tell where the bite point is.
  5. You could try http://www.sparkplugs.co.uk, you can get 6 NGK iridiums for just over £50 there including delivery. Darren.
  6. Hi Zevans This is what I thought too. No fuel mods as far as I am aware. I changed the fuel filter last week. Don't have an accurate figure for boost - just the stock gauges. They 'were' showing +14psi I.e. right to the end. Now I guess the needle doesn't go quite to the end so I reckon around 10-12psi. Tony - I work pretty close to Aylesbury so that sounds like the best bet. I'll give them a call. Thanks guys Darren.
  7. Cheers Vijay. You're right, I don't think I'll be going back to them. I put the car there as I just wanted a firm diagnosis on what the noise was. They are also an independant rally team so thought that they would be well clued up on things like detting with turbos. Maybe they are and all what they said is right. But I wasn't totally convinced. Mechanics eh. Cheers, Darren.
  8. I thought my car was detonating - a kind of rattling/crackling sounds at high boost (sound familiar?). Anyway, took it to a garage who said they would put it on a rolling road to confirm what was happening (I had already changed plugs, fuel filter and checked timing with no improvement). They came back and said they didn't even need to put it on the rolling road as they were so convinced that it wasn't detonation. They told me it was the left turbo making the noise. The guy seemed a bit dodgy to me. He told me I should book it in asap as the car was dangerous to drive as there was some oil underneath which could catch fire at any time! Also that I would 'melt' the turbos if I continued to drive it!! They turned the boost down via the boost valves and now the noise seems to have almost but gone. Has anyone else experienced the same sort of thing as me? Any Rattling or other noise at boost which turned out to be from the turbos? I would of thought the turbo would rattle pretty much all the time if there was too much play in it? Just wondering if I'm being taken for a ride here. Wouldn't want to change my turbos to find out that it was detonation after all and my turbos were fine. Cheers, Darren.
  9. Hey, not far away. Not there anymore though eh? Darren.
  10. I live in Downley - Littleworth road, Darren.
  11. Think the reg started G85... parked outside bodyfit gym off desborough park road at about 6:30pm.
  12. Yes, that would of been me again mate. Always finish early on a Friday, Cheers, Darren.
  13. Hi Justin, If it's the centre bearing you're talking about then I bought one from Courtesy Nissan back in october. The part number was 37521-33P25 but I just called them and asked for a propshaft centre bearing. The total cost back then (including shipping) was $161.38. However, I think I also had to pay the customs charge which came to another £30, but I paid that when it arrived. Darren.
  14. going up plomer hill towards downley at about 6:50pm friday (26th). Was getting dark so only caught the back end as I was walking up. Darren.
  15. Cheers, it was resprayed before I got it - Audi 'Ming Blue' apparently. The last few weeks I have seen a couple of Zeds out and about on my way to work (usually don't see one for months). Must be a sign that the weather is picking up eh. Darren.
  16. Hiya That was me. Would of been on my way to work in Long Crendon. I'll keep an eye out for ya. Cheers, Darren.
  17. Hi, My symptoms were vibrations between around 30-60mph. It was also a lot worse when cold. Once warmed up you hardly noticed it. I got the prop shaft bearing replaced and it totally cured it. But maybe worth getting your wheels balanced first, could be as simple as that. Darren.
  18. Hello all, I've seem this mentioned a couple of times so I guess someone must of done it, but has anyone managed to replace these without removing the hub and using a press? Thanks Darren.
  19. Mines a UK too - 1993, 72k and no rust (but it was resprayed just before I got it). Darren.
