Drifting
Yeah. maybe not the best car for it but you can do it. Stick some 200SX wheels on the rear though (got this tip from gary300ZX - I saw him at the last driftUK event). They have practise events: http://www.driftuk.co.uk/Event-dates.htm Think the next one is at Silverstone, £60 for practise and tuition (someone will jump in the car with you and show you what to do).

boost controller
Hey Chris, I'm interested in one of these too (http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=46347) - will drop you a PM - have you cleared out your mailbox yet? Tried to PM you the other day and it was full.

Boost not consistent
Yup, defo time for a proper controller and gauge I reckon. Was gunna replace the 1.2mm valves for 1mm ones at the weekend too...he he. Those boost controllers are fairly pricey though eh!! What one have you got? And where did you get it? Am I right in assuming that an EBC has it's own gauge - so no need for a seperate one of those as well??

Boost not consistent
Thanks for the info mate. Yeah, I do think my gauge is way off - I think I will defo look into getting an aftermarket gauge. But I don't seem to get a 'spike'. I.e. it doesn't seem to boost high and then tail off - it seems to stay high or stay low. I only get it one way or the other per run. Or is that what happens when you get spikes?? But like you said - could be the weather. Maybe a proper boost controller would be a good option too. Cheers, Darren.

Boost not consistent
I've noticed that some days my car seems super quick and the guage (standard, so probably not accurate) shows boost at the end of the scale (around 14psi). Other days it seems just average (like before I had boost jets and a JWT chip) and it only boosts to 11-12psi. This can happen on the same day - yesterday in the morning it seemed normal (slow), but on the way home was boosting a lot more! And this morning, got stuck in traffic for ages, when I eventually got to a clear piece of road, floored it and it seemed to take ages to wind the turbos up, and seemed even slower than normal. Anyone got any ideas? Maybe something is sticking somewhere? Maybe just the weather?? Or maybe something to do with the chip 'learning'?? I know the stock guage is crap but I would expect the car to boost at the higher level all the time. (BTW. it's a Uk manual with JWT chip and 1.2mm boost jets) Cheers, Darren.

rear wheel stud
I just had the same problem on the front. I got a tap and die set and re-did the thread, seemed to work fine. The size was M12 1.25. As far as I know though I think you can knock the stud out through the other side of the hub by giving it a good wack with a hammer. But perhaps best to wait for some other advice before trying that first, as I've never actually done it myself.

Where can I get this spoiler...
Hi Tizer, thanks for that. Had a look at the site (nemesisperformance.net - I guess it's the one you meant) and they do look like the ones I'm after. Bleedin' expensive though!! Might have to settle for a high ZCentre spoiler instead. Cheers.

Where can I get this spoiler...
Can anyone tell me where I can get one of these spoilers in the UK? Seen it advertised on ebay - but was in the US, and the ZCentre don't do them anymore. It's called a Vader I think. Cheers.

how to bleed p/steering with hicas eliminator
Hiya, I have changed the fluid on my car twice and never bled it in the way you are suggesting. I always just turn the steering lock to lock and seems to be fine. Lots of air foams out of the resevoir and then it settles down. But maybe this isn't the best way?? But my HICAS is a pain. Replaced all the ball joints and now the pipes that carry the fluid to the rear have burst - twice! So I am thinking of disabling it - and using some braided host to bypass it like you have done. Do you know what size hose it is? Cheers, Darren.

Most Common Places a Z32 Leak (Engine oil/coolant/transmission/Powersteering)
Thought I best mention that my fix for HICAS (mentioned above) burst on the way home last night!! Dumped all the fluid in the road and I lost power steering! So my quick fix didn't 'do the job' after all (when will I learn not to be a bodger!). Will do it properly over the weekend with some new pipe and a flare kit.

Heater controls
Once the engines warmed up I find that if it's cold outside and you turn the temp up to about 23 degrees, it doesn't blow through the console vents until it's almost reached that temperature - seems to blow out at the screen or footwell. But if I turn the temperature down a bit (to 19 or something) I start to feel warm air coming through the vents. Then once the cabin reaches about 19 degrees I can turn it up to 23 again and seems ok. Does seem to take a long time to warm up - I would rather a manual heater control to be honest - just to blast hot air straight at me!

White Zed - High Wycombe
Hiya Alex, You far from High Wycombe? Haven't spotted you around so far (would of definately remembered if I'd seen your car). I'll keep an eye out though - would like to see the beast in the flesh. See ya Darren.

White Zed - High Wycombe
It lives on Coates Lane. I drive passed and always see it parked behind some jeep thing.

Most Common Places a Z32 Leak (Engine oil/coolant/transmission/Powersteering)
I had a HICAS leak - one of the pipes that run underneath towards the rear had corroded and split (on mine they run up the near side and are under a plastic cover). I just used a hax saw to cut the corroded section away (about an inch) and patched it with a couple of jubilee clips and some fuel line. Maybe not the best fix but did the job. Also had brake master cylinder leak. Same as MikeGroves. Cost £50 for a new piston kit. Easy to replace though. Also got a fuel tank leak (apparently the breather pipes are not connected properly?? But will find out when I take the tank off in the summer). And a clutch leak. Not fixed this yet (leaks very little). Replaced the slave cylinder already so I gues it's the pipe between the master and slave cylinder or perhaps the piston seals as for the brake master cylinder. Plus the oil leaks from somewhere too...ah well.

How does a JWT chip affect insurance?
Who's on TPFT??
-
How does a JWT chip affect insurance?
Yeah, I guess so. They would still have to prove that the chip is not a standard one though. I mean the car could of been chipped and then replaced again with a standard chip, unlikely eh, but possible.

How does a JWT chip affect insurance?
I guess they could spot boost jets quite easily but how could they tell if it's chipped? Will a conZult show this up?
-
How does a JWT chip affect insurance?
Thanks for that. If say, it wasn't declared. And say you wrote someones car off (as well as your own probably). Then they discovered the chip. Would that invalidate your third pary insurance too? Or would they just refuse to pay for your own car but pay out for the third party still??? Probably no definate answer here eh. Guess I should just bite the bullet rather than take the risk. Cheers, Darren.

How does a JWT chip affect insurance?
I installed a JWT chip recently, also added in some 1.2mm welding tips for a bit more boost. Anyone have any idea how this will affect insurance? When I added the induction kit it didn't make much difference to my premium but this could be different I reckon. Is it even worth telling them? I mean exhaust and air filter is easy to spot but a chip is more difficult to detect. Cheers, Darren.

Seatbelt won't rewind, any solutions?
Mine did this. A small spring in the mechanism had come off because the plastic it was attached to had snapped. I used a match stick and some super glue to fix it and it was fine. If yours is the same then when you take a look you'll see the problem straight away. Darren.
