  1. and if it is the crankshaft seal how hard a job is it?
  2. Ok had a good look under the car today and took lots of pictures. most of it is coming from the front if not all of it. i dont have time to buy that aero spray but i think il do that 2mow. then i can have a better look at the source. its on the aircon compressor/the altenator/ it has travelled along the bottom of the gearbox onto the gearbox mount and on the exhausts about halfway. i also noticed a bolt missing from the gearbox where it joins the engine so i put one in. i also tightend most of the pipes. I noticed the bottom rad pipe was not tight and leaking water so i tightened that also. Well at least its not going to rust under there ;) here are the pics. enjoy..

  8. I think its there but its leaking from front near cam belt pulleys and stuff. Ive still to investigate it. The worse bit is the smoking under the bonnet which goes after a couple mins. i cant stand it. i reall shouldnt be driving it.

  18. do you recon you could make a list of the possible culbrits? 1.rocker gaskets 2.cam seals 3.pvc sorry dont want to sound daft but what is the pvc pipe and where is it? pic?
  19. I have a look just like you said 2mow. so if it is the cam is there a way it can travel to the rear?
  20. your right. il have to clean up all the oil with some of that stuff. then find the source of the leak just like you said. but i think there may be two leaks so il have too look that bit deeper...
  21. Mate there isnt a dry spot underneath the engine so i can say yes these is oil on it.
  22. i have oil just infront of the throttle cable housing. im sure its on the plate behind the timing belt too. Do you think these are separate leaks? i didnt think that oil from the front could travel all the way to the rear? i havent looked at the compressor yet, where is it?
  23. Thats the rocker cover gasket then???? but it deosnt seem very oily and vertically down from that its dry? unless the oil is burning off with no trail of any leftovers.
  24. i thought of that. but it seemed to be burning for a good while after.
