  1. I hoping to overhaul my gearbox in the near future with 99 spec internals as ive read they are a big improvement from the old in reliability/syncro's/bearings etc The old boxes are flawed and are just not up to scratch... i still love em tho :D
  2. Thats helpful, ive always wanted to do a long road trip, but id like some company on the way or id end up talking to the car and going mad...... But im thinking the cost in fuel would work out too expensive, all the bloody stopping at gas stations to fill up would be a time killer too. Hmmm about the road tax in cyprus...... i spoke to a friend who recently moved to cyprus and brought over his vauxhall astra 2.0 vert he drove about for a year or so before it was finally registered, it worked out to about £1000 registration/shipping and that was over the year or wating for paperworks etc. Now, the insurance costs in cyprus are silly cheap compared to the uk. my friend pays £200 for his vauxhall,,,, or was he giving me a quote for mine im not sure but i know its cheap. my cousins were insured on their first car for around 100 quid now thats lovely, so i suppose the tax kinda evens out the insurance prices. And petrol is almost half the price so id be doing alot more driving out there without having to worry about my pockets too much.
  3. thrust release bearings are noisey when foot is down on the clutch, so its defo internal, but its not loud, sometimes when ive been listening to the radio and i turn it off its hard to distinguish the noise unless you press the clutch up and down then its obviouss again. ive got a new clutch to go in anyway. and the clutch in there at the mo is new anyway, so whoever wants it can have it afterwards if they really want it:D
  4. right, so this should help in our favour of road tax and road legalities?
  5. Ok just done a search on here on a few gearbox related problems, I wouldnt say mine was of a major issue but here goes. Got a noise with clutch out which is obviously an internal noise problem, i know its not gunna affect the box much and can last a good few thousand miles until it gets really noisy and rattley but its a bit annoying and im looking to have it sorted in the near future. It makes the noise when in 1st and second also. before you ask yes ive checked the gear gaitor and its fine ive even added a bit of sound dampening material..... I also get a rattle/ vibration when pulling off at about 1000/1500rpm in first and second and a bit in 3rd then it disapears completly, but i cant live with it....... for now :D I also have a bit of a funny gearchange mainly when cold from 1st to second and its hard to get in 1st while coasting, clutch has been bled a few times now for other reasons so i know its not hydralic. Anyone had any experience with these probs and can pinpoint the worn parts/bearings? Whats involved with the jobs/ replacing layshaft bearing or whatever the noisy bugger is called.
  6. Not if the disks are "brand new" i doubt it... these are tension rods with poly bushes installed. has your car been lowered? if so what else has been done to the suspenion? il have these rods complete with energy poly bushing £40 delivered if this is the prob.
  7. ah yes of course. Are you a mechanic?
  8. i could, maybe, might possibly make this but it depends on a few things. my arcges do def need rolling or i wont be able to adjust my camber. Does anyone know any local places in north london who do arch rolling, as My car is not healthy enough to drive all the way there.....
  9. if the belt was out a notch wouldnt it either retard or advance the timing on all cyclinders?
  10. yeah i think there is only one earth on the fuel rail. a leak on the balance bar maybe i dunno im not a pro. but defo do a boost leak.
  11. Id give up my ass viginity for that car.
  12. If you have the old injectors from the old engine swap them round with the complete fuel rail, clean all the green crap on the injector connectors. its obviously not ecu or any of the wires youve changed. Topless if the belt was out one notch wouldnt it be lean on all cylinders? same with boost leak? or not?
  13. oh i didnt look at the ornage car, but i see it now, wont it fook the paint?
  14. you mad, a poll wont fit under my arch i cant even get a finger nail in there. clever technique tho
  15. which one.. im blind?
  16. yeah that sounds great. i want j1mmytt's monster zed in blue haha :D
  17. any pics of what this rolling arch looks like?
  18. yeah but if the car is pre 1991 then surely they dont test them for emmisions?
