  3. Ok back onto the subject :D What kinda paint will i need for the plenum ive decided on cherry red :D sorry radron but im copying your style haha just looks so damn fine :D Dont mention powder coating as its a DIY jobby :D Can i get away with not smoothing it so much or does it have to be smoothed so much for the paint to stick... or will it look naff?

  5. No, although im not 100% sure........ why?
  6. Do you think i can get away with not smoothing out the plenum and painting it glossy red? i dont mind the bumpyness. Anyone know type of paint to use for the plenum? Wouldnt have to be heat resistant as i know it doesnt get hot enough.
  7. yep thats what i wanna do, or polish, but i cant be bothered to polish haha.
  8. Im not the best person to ask about polishing. But i think to get a mirror finish you have to work you way from wet and dry 400-1200 then use a polish mop to get that shiny finish. i just used a wire brush drill to polish the rad pipes and cas. for the rocker covers I used a wire brush drill to clean off the old crap and paint, it just happened to make it look slightly polished. then i cleaned everything thouroughly gave it 2 primer coats and left to dry. Next stage was to wet and dry again using 800 grit, clean and dry and spray my first coat of black, wet and dry using 1200, next coat of black and so on.
  9. I hope so. Im not very patient when it comes to painting. and i always blob it on too thick. Just thinking what to do with the plenum its still in southend and i cant make up my mind :(
  10. Ok timing covers finished, just gunna wait till they are dry then i can give them a little poilish as the look a bit dull.
  11. ooops your right ive posted them in the wrong thread...but ive painted my rocker covers and timing covers anyways you get the point:D
  12. kinda like a yearly rotation, everyday a new part and by the same time next year you need the same part again and so on.
  13. All done now any ways :D just waiting for them to dry then i can give them a little polish as they look a bit dull.
  14. you found some new intake pipes yet? :D

  18. Its all been a bit queer in this forum lately...............
  19. Na was thinking maybe you could polish it for me?
  20. yeah i know its not so bad ive also seen worse but still a nice ornament :D
  21. I dont have the tools or the know how to do it :( The rocker covers are hidden so i dont think it would be worth it anyway. cant polish timing covers, maybe i could have just polished the balance bar.
  22. Ok heres a few pics of the finish product: The little dark specs on the Rocker covers is just water. The timing covers/throttle body cover are not finished, just been primed and painted but wet and dried ready for final coating. Just a mild polishing, Rad pipes and CAS
  23. ahhhh now u tell me :( too late :(
  24. Andy so you recon il be ok with zinc primer and hammerite? You recon they dont get that hot then? Well ive gone ahead and painted them, not so bad a job i think :D not too important as you dont see them much under the plenum and other pieces. Ive primed the timing belt covers and they will be ready to paint 2mow. I been spraying in the basement and i feel really light headed now espeically after riding my bicycle to the shop and back :S woooooooweeee
  25. That stuff doesnt really have a nice glossy finish tho....... or does it?
