  4. Well, nice to see I've put a smile on a few faces! Came to work in it this morn and strangly still only showing 10PSI with .1 mil jets.. Welding tips actualy (A team again!) LOL But she drives like I stuck another engine in the back!! Intersted to know what boost others are running on T28s and with what sized jets.. Keep smiling!
  5. Anyone that knows me will know I recently had quite major surgery carried out on the Z some months back.. T28 BB Turbo’s,Braided Oil feeds,Dump Headers,New Clutch Slave and Master Cylinders,Braided Brake and Fuel Lines,To name but a few… And so the story starts…With the standard turbos and Boost jets I was running 13-14PSI and the car went pretty well…but as usual after a full custom SS exhaust minus cats I got the dreaded oil seal problem and quite bad smoke on tickover.. Hence the above Mods. The car went in to C and S who was instructed to remove the boost jets as I wanted to see how the Z performed with the new Tubs without before I started to play again. Although I may have said “it seemed quicker but more progressive” I was sort of lying as I was a bit disappointed. You would have struddled even in the dry to stop the rear wheel from spinning uncontrollably before the upgrade but after…the best way I could explain it, is it was like having traction control..the power would come in slowly and so no wheel spin. I then, as you do, stuck my boost jets back in..but she only ran 10psi… I even put some posts up quizzing why??? General conscious was that it was just because the new Turbos are so large and hence push more air at low boost.. I have lived with this for a few months but always been to be blunt a bit miffed about spending £1000s and other than it not smoking any more seeing no real benefit.. Right…ready for the fun bit??? (If your not asleep) First I checked the boost jets again only to find that Phil ( Who I would Still HIGHLY recommend BTW) at C and S had swapped the two pipes on the drivers side. So that sides boost jet was in the pipe going from the (before IC, after Turbo) to the balance bar.. and not from the (after IC, to the plenum) LOL so sorted that and obviously the difference was instant…It wheel spun like crazy in first once she was up to temp, but wait….whats this..still only running 10PSI????? Better do a Boost Leak test then!!! Duh, no boost tester….(at this point, for added effect please sing the A team theme in your head, trust me it adds to the hole effect!!) I had the contents of my double, yes double garage to source all I may need for the job in hand… Fist I found a brand new Tire Valve so on to a good start, found a large boost pipe (I think off my old Volvo T5) a step down rubber ring thingy out of a After market Air filter kit, a peace of drain pipe (LOL) sorry I’m even laughing at this as I type, but what could I seal the end with??? Take a look at the masterpiece that is... Rossy’s DIY Boost leak tester!!!!!!!! :- Well you maybe pissing yourself but guess what.. it worked a treat and I found a leak instantly having cut the end off a foot pump, connected it to a bit of plastic tubing and then to my compresser! PMSL :) The boost pipe on the passenger side was caught on the underside easy fix thank god! Tested again and guess what?, yup another one coming from under the passenger side throttle body to the left.. Poo and Wee, so I striped off all the boost pipes on that side I had just but back carefully and hacked it off. Sure enough a large split ( pipe comes off the plastic/black metal pipe from the tub to the pipe then pipe to IC) then to what I think is a balance bar pipe (the one that curls up just in front of the throttle cable) So I have the pipe off, all be it in bits as they do. Lucky for me I had one as it must have been part of the PCV Valve kit and I had two pipes left over after fitting :) . So now its 10:00 and I have the Z all back together with no leaks but can not be arsed test driving tonight… Looking forward to it though!! Not sure whether to take the boost jets out again 1st tho…what do you think? I know it a long tale but I love to make people laugh and pretty sure your all wetting yourself still. Just wish all the problems on the Z was this much fun and that you allways just happen to have the part on the shelf in the garage! 2005 is off to a good start me thinks!!! All I need now is a new Job!
