  1. Can anyone tell me what the paint code will be for my 93 UK black Zed (without me having to go out in the wet and look!), and also where I would be able to get a touch up kit?
  2. My Zed is currently off the road and will be for at least a couple of months until I can afford to get it fixed and insured. Does anyone know of an insurance company that would insure it purely against theft/vandalism and not to be able to drive it? Unfortunately I don't have a garage I can lock it in otherwise I wouldn't worry about it, but at the moment if someone stole it I'd be stuffed. I've rung a few insurance companies (Elephant, Admiral and Tesco) but they say the best they could do would be a standard TPFT cover, which I don't want to do cos I'd be paying for something I didn't need. Anyone any suggestions? Thanks, Phill
  3. any rough idea how much you'd be looking at paying a body shop to do the work from start to finish (for the full job - all three bits both sides)?
  4. ah, that's funny, a Zed drove past my shop today which I though looked identical to yours, wonder who it could have been, I've not seen it about before.
  5. It didn't sound like it would be compulsory to me, but that they would give you more than the cars worth as scrap simply to encourage it. But I may have misread it
  6. Thanks guys, looks like I'll have to switch back to the punto:( for work, and get the Zed booked in.
  7. Hi all, I finally bought my first Zed last Saturday (I’ll post some pictures when I can get hold of a camera). The car is great, I can’t believe how fast it is (fasted car I’ve owned to date is a 1.8 mondeo!), but there are a few nigly (or maybe not so nigly) issues that I’m not happy about that I could do with some advice/opinions on. Before I start, I know I broke all the rules for going to see a car - I’d pretty much decided I was going to buy it before I saw it as it was a bit of a distance, but at the end of the day I’ve got it now and I’ll just have to do what needs doing to it (though it may have to be off the road while I save up). 1. I was told that the car was completely standard both mechanically and in terms of appearance (which to my eyes it is), however the boost level goes up to what must be about 12 or so PSI on the (stock) gauge. According to the buying guide a stock car should go to a max of 9 PSI. Is this something to worry about or is it just an inaccurate gauge? 2. According to the buying guide the Oil pressure gauge should show between 30-60 PSI during normal driving. Mine seems to sit at about 10-15 unless I really drive it hard in which case it goes up into the 30-60 range, but driving at a steady 60 mph it doesn’t budge above 15. However the car’s manual suggests that these figures are in the normal range (all be it towards the lower end). Is this something to be worried about? 3. I get a vibration through the seat when driving between 55 and 70 mph (irrespective of gear/engine revs), but not above or below? Is this likely to be play in the rear axle as the buyers guide mentions? I’m hoping at some point to take it to Zed World and get them to do one of their ‘new owner’ checks, but in the mean time is it safe to drive or do I need to get these things checked ASAP? Sorry this is rather long, and please don’t tell be I’ve bought a complete duffer, I might get upset:cry:. Any help would be very much appreciated. Phill
  8. I don't like it at all, but I don't think it's any worse than a lot of other body kits you see around.
  9. can you stick it on Pistonheads or something, I think that's free. I don't want to get in trouble for encouraging selling by an unsubscribed member!
  10. mmm, really got my heart set on a manual, but depends what it's like. Have you got it advertised anywhere? Any info? Phill
  11. I was looking at a car on Autotrader that potentially ticked all the boxes for what I'm wanting, and was just within what I can currently afford at £2750. So I rang the chap up very expectantly, only to be told that it had already sold, which is a shame, but OK, I'm sure more will come along. However I've just been looking on Autotrader again and found the same car being sold again (I can just make out the number plate enough to know it's the same), but this time by a trader (previously it was on as private) and for £500 more, which just puts it over what I can possibly spend! How annoying is that! http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/NISSAN+300+ZX/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-240-4294966218-4294967243/advert.action?R=200838111580342&distance=110&postcode=sy4+5ut&channel=CARS&make=NISSAN&model=300+ZX&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=
  12. Doesn't the 99 spec spoiler just suit the car so well? From the back it follows the line round perfectly, and from the side it doesn't ruin that gorgeous sweeping curve running over the roof and down the boot lid, like the old spoiler does. Miles better than the old one IMHO.
  13. Thanks Snoopy, would be much appreciated. I've also got my eye on this one http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/NISSAN+300+ZX/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-240-4294966218-4294967243/advert.action?R=200836317802982&distance=36&postcode=sy4+5ut&channel=CARS&make=NISSAN&model=300+ZX&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage= if anyone knows anything about it.
  14. Does this belong to anyone on here, or does anyone know anything about this car at all (I'm quite interested)? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UK-NISSAN-300-ZX-TT-BLACK-MANUAL-SWAP-JAGUAR-X-TYPE_W0QQitemZ150295284999QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item150295284999&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
  15. Sorry, purely an observation!
  16. Does anyone remember the Moomins?
  17. Has that car been lowered on Stock wheels? I've been wanting to see what it would look like, looks pretty good to me (asuming I'm right in thinking it's lowered). Is there any reason why you couldn't use spacers with stock wheels aswell to bring them out a bit?
  18. read the specs at the back of the manual, it's probably more like 4 x 15 genuine RMS watts, and even it is genuine 50w, the 50w the genesis puts out will sound far superior. Power output is only one measurment for an amplifier, and a fairly insignificant one in my opinion. My home hifi rates itself as 30 watt per channel (Naim Audio) but it would blow any of these supposedly multiple hundred watt mini systems you get out of the water.
  19. Thanks for all the advice chaps, will bear it all in mind when I start seeing some cars.
  20. I guess I'm also thinking that one may not have any visible rust when I buy it, but what if it's just waiting to show itself, how big a deal that would be.
  21. so if a car is rusty around there (and/or the wheel arches) can it be repaired properly, or only touched up? and do you have any idea how much a body shop would charge?
  22. Cheers Stella, I guess I'm thinking mainly of the ones with bubbling rear aches as that's one of the obvious ones, but I don't know where else they are prone.
  23. Sorry Hellraiser, I don't think I'll be able to be be part of the family, got to be 2+2 I'm afraid, far more elegant.
  24. Thanks crotchrocket, I do like your car a lot, but unfortunately it's above my price range at the moment, and also I've got my heart set on a manual (and if at all possible a black one).
