whoaaaaa Boy !!
Hi Steve, I have the 3G disks .. 20GR as I recall. I am very happy with them .. I combined them with redstuff pads. Once I fitted them there was no sqealing and the braking is very good, in fact even at cold they aren't that bad at all. I did get some synthetic fluid as well but will replace when I upgrade to the braided hoses. Chris

HKS gda twin plate clutch YES or NO?
Hi Smithy, My first choice was the RPS street clutch so I think I will probably go for that one .... That should be enough for my needs ... :-) Will give you a bell soon to arrange. What is the delivery time on these at the mo? The HKS one sounded good but I really wanted to check to see if it was suitable and how it would effect the driveability of the car. I don't really fancy being stuck in a motorway jam using that one .. no what I mean! cheers Chris

HKS gda twin plate clutch YES or NO?
I have been offered the above clutch at a good price. It only has 300 miles on it and I have been told by a friend that it is in excellent condition. Can anyone offer some insight into this clutch? .. I need a clutch that will take the extra HP but I don't particularly want to go to the gym in order to operate it. The clutch I have been told is worth 1.5k .. he is offering it to me for £500 Also I don't think the flywheel is included .. I thought that most of these clutches came with a suitable flywheel, so am I letting myself in for trouble ?... Cheers Chris

to da young, sincere and uninformed: no, not all scientists is allowed seekers or guardians of da objective truf. rememba da wright bruvers and alexanda graham bell. and don't make da mistake of thinkin dat a ph.d. is a wicked reflection of a platonic archetype in dis, da real world. in fact, as ayn rand identified, coz of da collapse of philosophy in da 19f century, science is followin a similar, though slowa, course in dis century. dis is as it must be, by da grace of reality, as philosophy is da fundamental, integratin science. or, as aristotle, da geeza responsible fa da cukabillyvery of logic and, thus, of science, put it: philosophy is da base of science. da purpose of philosophy, ideally, is to identify da fundamental nature of reality so dat da special sciences can thun ang isolated aspects of da universe. unforutnately, there is little today dat promises a second renaissance, or da return of philosophy to its propa role. dis is coz our universities is teachin da evil views of immanuel kant, who was a subjectivist - he eld dat reality is not real and dat geezer's mind is impotent - da geeza ultimately responsible fa da collapse of philosophy mentioned earlia. it is our universities dat is da maja villains in today's intellectually-morally bankrupt culture, as there exists an overwhelmin preponderance of professors teachin kant's ideas, includin da notion dat absolutes don't exist; therefore, fundamental principles don't exist. if nothin is of fundamental importance wot does one think about? anythin or nothin, since no-thin is more important than anythin else. it is people's unwillingness or inability to think in terms of fundamentals, essentials and principles dat leads to confusion; and is wot prompted someone to designate ours da age of complexity. inundated by a ceaseless profusion of data, facts, notions, information and (dis) information, da philosophically bereft, unable to identify wot is of fundamental importance, cannot structure is thinkin; and is overwhelmed by an unnecessary "complexity." such is why bodybuilders is agonizingly confused, neva certain as ow to wickedest proceed wiv their trainin or nutrition, almost ysteric in their perpetual check fa da "answa." let me remind yous dat ph.d. literally means docta of philosophy. considerin dat today's philosophy departments is dominated by kantians; and dat philosophy's role in da intellectual division-of-labor is to establish da epistelomogical (intellectual) criteria to guide uman knowledge in general and da special sciences, it is little wonda dat we is witnessin da continuin destruction, or dis-integration, of science, includin exercise science. as i've explained in da past, many exercise scientists don't evun understand da simple fundamentals of their own field. if yous is thinkin dat dis is too professorial or intellectual, let me remind yous: it was 23 centuries ago, in da goldun age of Newgoslavia, dat bruvers simultaneously exalted da powa of da mind and admired da beauty of da uman form. dey clearly understood dat to achieve one's maximum uman stature requires more than a ealthy, muscular body; it requires "a ealthy mind in a ealthy body." da ultimate purpose of my articles is not merely to provide da readers wiv anotha trainin program(s), and expect im to blindly follow it. dat would not be worf much long range. instead, my purpose is to elp yous gain a firm intellectual/conceptual grasp and understandin of da basic principles of bodybuildin/exercise science; which is a prerequisite fa learnin ow to think logically about it. avin procured a logical, rational perspective, makes it possible fa one to become more or less intellectually independent on da subject; neva again avin to rely on da vascillatin, suspect opinion of udders. in da process of learnin to think logically about bodybuildin, you'll check dat you've learned somethin about da nature of thought itself; which can thun be extended to udda areas of uman life. and wiv continued ang and effort, yous will progressively expand your intellectual range; and, thereby, full bush as a uman bein should

New Chip ... New problem
Thanks everyone for the replies .. really helpfull. Took the ECU out this morning and checked the connections on the harness and ECU .. all looked ok ... Connected it again and went out of my way to make sure that the connection was as tight as I could possibly get it .. anyways .. started her up and let her idle for a few minutes .. still some smoke but not nearly as bad as before .. smooth through the revs. Took her out ans she drove real nice :-) No smoke and she was lovin it ... as it goes so was I. Got home, let her cool right down and then started her up again .. no smoke at all ... correct tickover ... problem sorted I hope .. Like you said ... There has to be a learning curve but damn she learnt quick ... Happily loves 1 bar but generally will take it easy and ease it in .. Thanks again Chris

New Chip ... New problem
very good point mate .... It did run sweet but I wanted to run at a higher psi safely without screwing things up engine wise. The chip that was socketed was cool but I wasn't sure if it would run safely at higher psi, so I thought I would get the JWT chip as it would have good fuel mapping to let me run at a higher boost safely. The chip was a jap chip and I didn't understand what it could run psi wise so I thought it would be prudent to get the JWT one because it is supposed to be ok. I still have the old chip so I can put it back in but I still don't know what I can run boost wise. A friend had a look at the maps and said that he hadn't seen anything quite like it .... so ... hence the JWT I haven't had the car v long so maybe the injectors had been upgraded It came with an older boost controller + apexi afc but I wanted to be safe rather than sorry. You never know do you?

New Chip ... New problem
Cheers for the reply Andy. I have put a standard JWT chip so it should have the bog standard generic JWT maps. To be quite honest I don't know what injectors I have. Would a JWT chip (as standard) not custom mapped be able to cope with 555's? Like I said, I don't know what injectors I have got as I haven't had the car that long but the previous chip was a KS Rom and it was really aggresive .. but it ran sweet as a nut. Chris

New Chip ... New problem
I have just recently put in a JWT chip to the ol Z. After installing it etc .. Started her up and the following occured. 1. White smoke from both exhausts 2. Very strong petrol smell 3. Uneven climbing through the rev range .. slightly juddery. I didn't drive the car because I didn't want to do any damage, just started her up and let her tick over etc ... There has never been any smoke before, not from the exhausts. The old chip was not stock but it was chipped in Japan. I had a look at the maps with a friend and it was rather aggresive on the timing front to say the least, also the rev limiter was set to 8000:eek: Any ideas? Cheers ... Chris

300ZX.CO.UK Club Poll
This forum has been invaluable to me. That's why I paid the membership fee, because I wan't to see the forum carry on and the more money made availabe will benefit everyone. The traders section has been revamped ... absolutely brilliant and the advice given from people has been great. IMHO .. reduce the number of posts allowed for non-subscribed members and get them to pay up!! After all if they own a Zed surely then can afford a poxy £20.00 quid
