  4. Well whilst I write this sipping my morning tea , the Algarve sun blazing down on my face, I cannot help but wonder what the hell happened yesterday as we witnessed first hand the wrath of mother nature at her worst. .........a tornado and boy was we lucky! The down town area effected was just 20km from where we are but the effects were just as scarey, day became night like, constant fork lightning and rain like nothing you have seen before, and the wind was incredible. Click here http://news.sky.com/story/1012619/tornado-hits-portugals-algarve-eight-hurt No sign in the sky now, just sun and peace .... just weird. Jeff TT

  6. Second that!! Rev1richie what were you thinking? the ground is not stable enough to risk your life and your car. Jeff TT
  7. Cheap units, well legally compliant ones don`t exist with rent, rates, electric, water +INSURANCE even a two car garage will attract painful overheads when run full time. Local authority lockups can sometimes be a better deal than private owned, link below for ratable value calculations and contact details for your area. http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=3357 Jeff TT
  8. Cannot see a better time to sort it, as any of our customers know we do not charge hourly rate as that is the route for main dealers and lesser garages in my view that are not confident enough of their knowledge and experience to do fault finding for a fixed fee. Jeff TT
  9. The compressor only cuts in if there is enough pressure in the system so if the system pressure is too low it will not cut in anyway, failing that just take the compressor relay out of the box on the inner wing passenger side, it is marked up which one. Jeff TT
  10. UK gearboxes have 2 sensors and 2 switches 1 Vehicle speed sensor 2 Reverse light switch 3 Neutral switch 4 Cooling pump temp sensor Import gearboxes have 1 sensor and 2 switches 1 Vehicle speed sensor 2 Reverse light switch 3 Neutral switch Jeff TT
  11. How or what can be done to stop forum spam, I am a member on a very small forum that deals with property matters, its less than one year old a couple hundred members but it keeps getting spammed! just as a thread gets interesting a post selling ugg boots or girls or whatever comes up, is there any software or is it a case of watching out for it and getting it deleted by a mod? Any help would be appreciated as the forum is good and do not want it to suffer. Jeff TT
  12. An engine we swapped for a customer early part of the year due to low compression on number 6 cyliner was stripped today to salvage usuable parts, all went according to plan until Jamie found a quite unexpected extra lurking with in the inlet tracts to no 6 cylinder. Quite difficult to see what it was, it was also trapped under the valve quite tightly but with the head removed it was easier to see what it was, still it needed a little persausion to come loose.... Now extracted fully it looks like a bike tyre removal lever?? goodness knows how this got to the position it had, fair to speculate that in the past whilst the plenum was off the tool had been left resting on top and dropped down, must of got stuck out of the way until the right ( well wrong ) moment it got dragged down into the cylinder but been stopped by the valve, the valve seat quite oddly was untouched as was the valve a testiment to the quality of the engine components, why a tyre lever around a zed engine ?? Suppose the moral of this story is to be carefull with tools and whatever around engines with the tops removed. Jeff TT
  13. Should look like this, the correct way up and the pipes correctly fitted. Jeff TT
  14. Have had several zeds in the workshop with these fitted over the years and personally they are a pain in the ass, the doors are too heavy and too long for it to work well and look good, let alone the fact the underneath of the door has to be spot on and when raining will drip all over the place, don`t do it unless your car is going to be used as a show car only. Jeff TT
  15. Hope that helps, one point that does make me MAD is electrical based small or minor work regulations effect normal households too, so if you fancy adding an extra socket into an existing circuit you need to jump through the particular hoops that make it safe apparently, why oh why if we are all so incompetant at this does large DIY outlets sell cable, sockets, and consumer units? cynical maybe but its a money maker, if an electrical circuit is compliant to the regulations of the day it was installed, how can it be that a few years later when fuse and cable sizes are re-assessed does that mean the previous regulations were incorrect? or are the new ones a way of keeping the electrical industry busy, there has been a plethora of individials and companies attending crappy 2 week courses to make them pact testing engineers and small work testers, never in a million years are they electricians but regulators, ok rant over (Previously time served electrician) Jeff TT
  16. Re: Telephone call Here is the layout you need to test your speed signal, could pm you as your not subscribed. Jeff TT
  17. I am sure many would love to help but cannot read / understand disconnected text speak? Jeff
  18. I think while they were going they did a hell of a lot of engines, many we have seen and many we have heard about, its worrying though how many are still out there waiting to fail. Jeff
  19. Yes considering the amount of damming evidence that has come to light since their demise its a wonder they lasted as long as they did, the annoying thing is like many of the other robbers who called themselves specialists, they are well gone now with customers cash and no chance they will ever have to defend any of their work or give any re-compense..... Jeff TT
  20. Before we even pulled the engine yesterday due to the oil / water mix in the radiator, the smoke from the exhaust and the general fit of engine we knew there was troubl e ahead, but add to the mix that this was once rebuilt by Ztech ( now a defunct outfit ) and was one of their famed "Forged variety" the reveal was well no surprise, Standard pistons, rings rods, bearings, and nice standard head gaskets, trouble is the car had been set up on the understanding it was strong biggger injectors, bigger turbo`s and boosted etc. but the build was poor, the amount of excess silicon sealant was a joke, the mixed up bolts and missing brackets etc. was plain lazy, but to charge for one thing and delivery a hold lot less is unforgivable, this is one of many engines from the same bunch that were rebuilt with standard parts but charged out as Forged. Why do this? if your getting work and been paid accordingly then why cheat? they were never in it for the long game, just a quick buck and off in to the sunset..... So under pressure the standard parts had let go with broken piston rings and worse heavily marked bores, one bore has a sort of roll in the metal! Be warned about any engines from this bunch. 21. We had a customer once who was running 21psi in a daily driver, bog standard engine, we checked all we could get to and nothing looked or appeared to be upgraded, the car went like a super missile and had no sign of detonation and seemed to lap up the boost No problem, I drove that particular car several times and could not work out how it was running how it did. Later the owner had a small problem and posted up on here how it was running and was blasted for been incorrect and no one believed him, but we had seen it and it was real, a garage owner in Cyprus also came on here years ago and said how they had 500bhp out of a totally standard engine and no one trusted what he said, later on a trip to Cyprus I saw how it was done and its very possible.
