they look good - like uprated porsche cups but then i also like the ones on smithys homepage on the black strosek... anyway nice. just been for a spin in mine with the new 225s on all round and basically i cant floor it from less than 30 wet and 50 dry without the risk of spinning, but only when the auto box kicks down at the same exact time the turbo boost comes in... something to get used to... but not in a rush to do the wheels. i really like the standard five spokes for some reason. really dont know why. wonder what it is...

Glad you like the show. Basically I have a pc in front of me 60% of every day and I am either working on it or on the phone. When I am on the phone I can type on its keyboard. Also I believe in making a point. The fellow asks a question I asked myself before I bought my trusty Zeed - I try to give a mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive answer. It means I don't have to return to it. ever. I set up the skeleton then add some meat and let others add more meat in the necessary places i overlooked due to my ignorance, lack of vision, etc etc you can also buy some excellent dictation software these days. I have it installed but hardly ever use it - but someday soon i'm go into overdrive! and i don't mean on my autobox. do a search for dragon wireless on http://www.dabs.com - for old people, lazy people and overly productive people. It'll make you into god damned multi-tasking tyrannosaurus - just like me! :hyper:

Don't you dare sell it. Only other nissan to consider today is the new GTR. You car is great. also don't go big. looks good enough already. enjoy it and it drives better than a skyline anyway. and looks much better. and is much better :)

:xxx: the cars are comparatively cheap as: 1. the market is flooded with cheap jap imports which cost peanuts in the land of the rising sun 2. lots of very poor examples out there with rust, engine/gearbox problems 3. Lot's of :xxx: have bought the car as it is cheap, not understanding that these are powerful and well balanced cars that need a lot of care and attention and are expensive to run. 4. furthermore, said :xxx: have stuck on cheap bits (cheap spoilers, interior mods, alloys, tyres, gauges, etc) that let anyone in the know understand that these cars have likely been running on higher boost without the necessary care having been taken to ensure the other parts of the engine/exhaust system/etc are up to the job of withstanding the increased strain on the whole system. The probability that these idiots have raped their cars mechanical parts through further cheap power enhancing mods without creating balanced thought out work is high. These people are rats. Barbarians burning books. Most cars on the market are from them or jap import traders who must make 1-2k profit per car sold to stay in business. This is why when I was looking to buy a car I was looking for a stock jap import or a purist enthusiast maintained car. These cars unfortunately do sell at a premium. 5. Although I always loved the look of the zed both interior and exterior, it is a question of taste and prices are falling as sharp fronted coupes are out of fashion in a big way. In my experiance the majority of people under age 25 when asked what they think of the car have immediately responded with one word - "old". Fashion is instant... You have a great car. Why sell? 6. Sure petrol prices play a role, but it is not the main contributing factor to the low prices in cars. Consider annual 5000 mile petrol consumption on the zed vs a 2litre "standard" car or even a diesel - the difference is nowhere near the difference you will spend in servicing and general upkeep. and then on top of that there are all the small things that you want to get just right, you know? here are some reasons why you cannot think of any car half as good as your zed 1. there is nothing you can buy for your money that is as good as a well maintained zed 2. do not sell your zed unless it is breaking down on you all the time 3. if you sell your zed you will be disappointed as no car will measure up and doubly so for the money 4. if you want a nice drivers car and you like the way a zed feels then the only other car that I can personally recommend would be a celica gt4 and then only if you drive more in town as opposed to proper roads. It's cheaper to run, more dependable, great town handling due to the 4wd. only recommended if you had no car at all however... Problem is today it costs the same as 300zx and I cannot recommend you swap a 300zx for it. It is also less powerful if you currently have a TT and has a much cheaper feel interior. It is also much much slower and less comfortable on the motorway. 5. If you have a TT buy a SWB NA as another car or an everyday car... 6. Do not sell your zed. Repeat. Do not sell your zed unless you are in debt so heavy it hurts you every time you floor the throttle...

the car drives better, less noise for sure, more fun and don't forget I have an auto... to me this baby is a cruiser... if wanted a 300 racer I'd get SWB TT slicktop manual ;) if it was powerful enough for me...

I am now fully insured and driving far more, shall we say adventurously :nana2: Also I am on brand spanking new P6000 225/60ZR16's and I have to say I much prefer 225 on the rear than the 235s or 245s I used to have on my uk car... lots more :hyper:

Couldn't agree more. 240z you put up there is a beaut even though I'm not a great fan of them in general and particular agree on the SWB's looking better with "bold" (read flash) colours. Finally have seen some cars in orange that look good. Can't say I'd like a 300 in it until I see one I like, now a sagaris in reflex orange and black leather, on the other hand, looks the business... :cool: that grey beast is utterly inspiring... thinking of respraying mine... what do you think boys? grey, black or dark blue mettalic (bmw circa 94 pearl blue - not m3 avus but darker with more of a gleam - with cream/magnolia leather)?

When the 300ZX came out that grey was excellent and in my opinion it looks even better today. I personally would not have THIS car in orange as it's the kind of thing that attracts a lot of attention and for me unwanted attention. I think a newly repainted original grey zed would be a class act. grey alloys and cleared/smoked indicators all round and it would IMHO be one of the best Zed's out there. For me part of the class of the zed is its Q-car status mixed in with a bit of 80's sports car machissmo - it's under rated, but only by the novice/the flash crowd but highly regarded by the connoisseur, as he does not care what others think and he knows, i.e. he is the authority on this car not them, he drives the car because he knows it, loves and feels it - he doesn't quote the figures or have anything to prove to anyone else. He is not a copycat following the lead of the salesperson, reporter, clarksonperson or crowd in general. He stands for something. I think the Zed in that gun metal is understated - as I think it should be in the best sense of the word. A elegant act, not asking to be noticed by those who shouldn't be in the know about it... a mild mannered reporter during the day... you got my drift... it's why i prefer it to a supra, it's why i would never put a high spoiler on it... It's why Steve-300ZX's car just works. Believe me I like a lot of the kits, but in my heart I just think to myself why spoil such a beautiful machine... For me the ethos of the car, especially the twin turbo is all about effortlessness... I put my foot down and it gets there quitely, proudly, surely and honestly... It doesn't shout out about its performance, it doesn't let everyone know it's here... it doesn't really even break into a sweat... I guess for me what it boils down to is the simple fact that I believe that what we have, and what unites us, is respect for one of the best cars ever produced. Hey guys my newly bought car is ready for driving, but there are irritating things that must be solved. If you know how to fix them/what they are or could be or where I could buy replacements and have them fitted then please please help. I AM RELYING ON YOU as my local nissan garage has said they will not service my car as it's a jap import :cry: 1. my rearview mirror keeps dropping. where do i get a new one? 2. there is an irritating squeaky sound that comes from the front of the car closer to the drivers side. its especially evident on bad roads but often hushes up for over several minutes. what could it be? 3. the rollup cover for the boot has a clip missing but i want to get a whole new roller and cover as the old one is very dirty and does not roll up well. where can i buy this part? how much? etc 4. there is a black round plastic screw cover missing from the driver side interior handle hole. where? how much? 5. the passenger seat interior handle plastic looks yucky? where? how much? 6. the passenger door window plastic pops out too easily. where? how much? 7. I want a coupla proper funky 300zx keys as i had on my uk car years ago. you know the rounded greyish metal ones. where? how much? 8. should i take all of the tools out the boot as they are making a racket on the bumpy roads or should i just spend the time to put them in the right places. got any photos how it should all be placed in a jap car? 9. my car had a jap sticker on the engine which said lots in japanese and "replaced 80234" I am assuming this meant the cambelt. the sticker was removed by the garage that just did my first service :mad: how do i check that the cambelt has been changed and same for the water pump. also is the water pump normally changed when the cambelt is done? 10. the speedo backplate, and this is a funny one, has the "k" in "km/h" covered by a black marker. looks cheap and awful, but has the bonus of me not wanting to look at the speedo when maybe i should :hyper: where can i get a replacement back of the main speedo dial? whew. and now the less vital bits. a) where can i get the same steel/aluminium plate for the whole speedo as Jay? b) where can i get the same mid console aluminium frame as Jay? c) where can i get the same handbrake handle as steve-300zx? d) where did steve-300zx get his interior leather with piping done? how long does it take? how much? approximately? should I get it done in black or cream/magnolia on a black car? I am thinking magnolia for sure, but everyone keeps telling me it's too 80's/90's... what do you think? e) I want to get the standard alloys to look dark grey like the standard trispokes on celica gt4's. Should I just paint them? or powder them, whatever that means, as suggested by my local garage? f) I want to fit the 99 rear spec lights and black bit above them, but will only do so if I can get clear and then smoked grey siderepeaters, clear front indicators and also smoked side reflectors on the back end of the car. where, how much, when? g) navan auto gearstick - will it fit my 94/lwb/auto/jap? where and how much? Cobra alarm/immobiliser with total closure thursday! all I need now is some insurance :D hate brokers slightly less than only salespeople :hurl: . I want to do either the whole interior or exterior without re-paint and widearch which is basically just getting the beackend all 99 spec and clear smoked indicators and repeaters...
