  1. Most of the time you can get all the Parts needed for a Manual conversion (Used) for around £500 - £700 plus labour unless you do the work yourself. ;)
  2. The 300zx is fitted with either a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic gearbox with Torque Converter Lockup :)
  3. On some cars the Lockup can work in Second gear upwards on an Auto
  4. Over Drive is one more gear! Lockup is just the Torque Converter locking up over 40/50mph to help transfer the most of the power to reduce torque converter slip. Alot of manual gearboxes in the 1960's and 70's has overdrive
  5. I am still trying to source a crank, sump, number six conrod & piston and/or piston & conrod set, main bearing cradle or a complete working engine or just a whole bottom end?? And its great timing as funds are limited as i am buying a house at the End of the Year!! :( ;)
  6. Well i was travelling at a speed of between 110mph and 120mph when it happened and it was raining lightly so i did not want to cruise any faster. Even though i took my foot off the gas when it went Bang!! the engine continued to turn at high rpm untill i had brought it too a dead stop and then it stalled. I believe it continued to turn due to the Lockup solenoid still being engaged at the Time as i was travelling above the speed of 40/50mph. This is why the damage was so bad! :( I was hopeing by removing my foot from the accelerator the engine would have slowed to hopefully idle but it did not and i could not switch the ignition of although if i had thought about it at the Time of Panicing i could have knocked it in Neutral but i did not think of that at the time so i have one Bent conrod! one Piston still at the top of its bore and 5 pistons and conrods that are amazingly still intact and a Burnt crank maybe. I am concerned that it may have been the oil pump but i have not checked it yet.
  7. Hope you get it sorted mate! If you need a Hand let me know! :p
  8. Sounds like a Pig i used to know  :D
  9. I have not had it out as yet Other than today but the Sump looks like it has been removed as the Sump gasket was missing and replaced with Instant gasket.
  10. How much does a vgdett engine weigh in kilo's with all anc and turbos??
  11. Use a 3/8 or 1/2 U/J a 6 way u/j is more usefull than a 4 way but both will do the job ;)
  12. Picture's for the finally Removed no 6 conrod :o Strangley enough number 6 piston is still at the Top of the Cylinder bore???? it looks like the Piston Overheated in it's bore then the small End gave way and the Crank Smashed the Conrod all round the Bottom End!! Both side's of the Sump are blown out at the Sides and the Crank Face for Number six Conrod is Black from Excessive Heat!!! Whats really weard is the Coolant Temperature Gauge was only Three Quarter's of the way up the gauge when this all happened yet the Expansion Tank was overflowing with coolant:confused: I lost about i litre of coolant altogether  Number 2,3,5 conrods have at least one loose nut!!
  13. You do have to be very carefull in the Wet with an Auto though!!
  14. i can Certainly feel the power in my Auto!! well i did till the Engine gave up on me!:( I would not say they were like a Mondeo to drive?? or A Vectra and i have one of those:) Bloody quick Car even as an Auto!! i'd be happy with both haven Driven Both. as for control you can still manually shift an Auto:)
  15. See that the Two women sat near the Wall are laughing at him!  :D

  19. You should know better than to post a picture of your Helmet for everyone to see!! Are you boasting because you have a Purple one??:x:   :D
  20. They claim 5psi and upto 20 psi with additional tuning? would be good to see this actual claim to be proven? They claim this though: STS won the prestigious GM Design Award for Best High Performance Product. http://www.ststurbo.com/sema_2004 So hopefully they can prove this is possible? Maybe by using small diameter piping to the turbo unit to keep exhaust flow high. You know what happens if the Exhaust pipe diameter is too large? Exhaust gases slow down and cool faster!
  21. If it came of the lorry then you can claim off his insurance?!
  22. Update!! Also Engine mount was torn apart and a picture of the Damaged Engine to Gearbox bracket(Damaged by conrod)
  23. Good luck mate! hope you have a long road ahead with no problems unlike me at the Moment!
  24. If you have problems with your car pm me and i will give my mobile then you can bring your car up to me and i will have a look over it!
