Yipeee, Pistons have arrived
When you look at them side by side, there are quite a few differences. So when you look there are more differences than simalarities. Lets take into account that all pistons have to be shaped that way too, so the parts of the piston which can be different are nothing like each other, if you get what I mean. Stuart.

Dont know. Pistons look like, Pistons to me ;) But they only to have 2 gaps for the rings. There seems to be a large gap and then the oil ring gap below. These have the oil ring at the bottom, then the 2nd ring above it, then a small empty space and then the top ring. Also the gap between the top ring and the top of the cylinder have grooves on, those in the ohter picture do not. Also the cut out for the valves seem to go all the way to the edge of the cylinder. There is at least a 1mm maybe 2mm gap from the cut out and the edge of the piston. Stuart

Errr, but putting a metal head gasket decreases the compression ratio. Anything you do to the cylinders effect the compression. So it will be no different if I used JUN or HKS pistons. Stuart

They are really light too. The piston pin is heavier than the piston.

You know when you are actually starting to make progress with rebuilding your engine. The first lot of parts start to come in. :D Stuart

What to replace?
I am sure if its brand new. I would presume so. I dont know when they will get here though. I guess you would need yours ASAP. My order is being shipped as soon as it all in stock which may take a week or 2. I dont have much of an idea how much it is. About $350 or so. But then shipping and tax :( Get hold of Jaylox if you can and ask him. Send him a PM. Stuart

Your thoughs on Turbos please
Hi guys. Yeah I am going to go with the ones from this place in the Midlands, which will basically build my ones up to the max. It works out to be half the price as other turbos, and for that money I can change my mind a year or 2 later and it not be a big deal. I dont want to spend £2000 on turbos and end up hating them. I wanted to make my car as drivable as possible with reduced lag and such. The stock turbos are good at that and the BB on the rebuild and one or two other things he said, would make them spool up a little faster and do the higher boost with no problem. I will have to tell you what they are like when they are put on the car. When the engine is worn in I plan to take it to a rolling road to see the results. Stuart

My Car is still over heating but i know what it is
Thank yourself lucky for that. You could have had a bill for a blown engine and turbos. Least you know your problem then. :D

What to replace?
I am rebuilding my engine as some people know, but dont know what parts are best to replace while the engine is out. So far I am replacing Injectors, All Gaskets, PCV Valves, O2 Sensors, Lifters, EFI Harness (The Harness just for the injectors, coils, CAS, MAS, water temp sensors Etc) Can any one else thing of anything to replace? Stuart

350Z Common?
Hold on I have seen loads of people say that teh 350Z will be faster on a twisting track but not 1 person can back it up with FACTS! I am incline to believe that it is faster round a track. Stuart

Was Di Killed?
Just because she is dead doesnt make her a nice person. She was a slapper. She manipulated the press to make people feel sorry for her and it is coming out that she told lies left right and centre about people trying to kill her. There are thousands of people out there who are sick and say some one is trying to kill them. My dad works with people with brain injuries and half of them are convinced some one is trying to kill them. If any one of them dies in a car crash or has a heart attack, does that mean there was a conspiricey? Stuart

Oil gauge - mechanical vs electric
My dad asked this question to a person who works on oil rigs. He said that electrical is better. The quality of the electronics has become far superior than the old days. People say that the senders do start to give off false readings over the years. Well they do, the accuracy does start to go after many years of use. But no one has pointed out that Mechanical ones do too. Mechanical ones work by un-coiling a spring with the pressure of the oil water or boost. When a spring is squashed and pulled a lot, like when the needle moves, the spring will start to lose tension making it easier to squash and pull. Then the needle starts to read higher as the tension in the spring goes. Its like when the suspention springs, they start to go after a while. But when the accuracy goes on a mechanical gauge, the only way to fix it is to replace the dial, at the cost of £40-50 each, and that is if they still make style. A new sender will cost you £6-£10 Electrical you just change the sensor. Also with Mechaical expecially with water and oil ones, the temperature of the water is read from right behind the dial. By the time it travels up the hose to the dial, it could have lost heat or pressure. Granted it may not be that much, but I would rather know the values of the water and oil as close to the engine as I could. So the water temperature is taken from teh top rad hose, the oil pressure from near the sump and not read from a sample after 8 foot of hose. People who like mechanical have mechanical. People who like electrical go with electrical. I personally would go with electrical because of the following reasons and the other reasons already mentioned. One thing I do like about mechanical, they use about 270 degrees of a dial when electrical tend only use 160 Degrees or so. But there are electrical ones which will use the whole dial but will cost you a little bit more Stuart

What year is my Z?
A rough way of telling is to look at the seat belt lables and see what date is on there.
