With 100psi compression i think you should be looking at fitting a set of rings or getting a replacement engine, thats very low for one of these engines, the manual states a minimum of 142psi Baz

I think i'd be checking the timing next to make sure you haven't jumped a tooth or similar. Baz

The horns are earthed directly to the chassis, the yellow wire behind the wheel is the one you need to connect up, this feeds an earth down to the horn relay in the engine bay. I fitted a MGB horn contact to mine after fitting a spurious boss and it works perfectly. Baz

Under the centre console there is a rubber seal that makes a very tight seal between the body and the gear lever, alot of noise comes through here if this isn't fitted properly, fitting this properly on mine cured a noise which i originaly thought was the release bearing. Baz

I don't know about your clearance issues but fitting them is a relatively easy DIY job, fronts are very easy and take no time at all, the rears take longer because you have to remove all of the trim out of the rear of the car because the rear 'door cards' need to be removed and these are overlapped by the ones behind them etc etc Baz

I wouldn't weld an arm that is already cracked but when i fitted my poly bushes i have welded in a stregnthening plate about 4" long with the holed redrilled to stop this happening. Baz
