  1. and also in the real world bhp means nothing!! torque is acceleration ;)
  2. you dont want a wide ass ;) buy mine :) you can always add a wide arse at a later date
  3. well we live and learn ;) its being changed tomorrow
  4. you can get the tomie one which is 280 and i think hks do a 300 lph one but thats about as big as you can get in tank which will support possibly 600-700 bhp but to go 800 you need either a twin intank pump and either a larger fuel delivery pipe or a twin pipe setup or a big intank pump feeding a swirlpot and then a couple of external pumps feeding the fuel rail. Mike
  5. Cheers guys, got in and jumped started the car :) Also spoke to the alarm company and there coming out late today to rip it out and fit another alarm ;)
  6. cheers bud, will try this morning
  7. no locks at all :(
  8. Well my alarm woes continue The guy locked me out of it when he fitted it but luckely the drivers door was slightly open to we managed to unlock it after lots of messing with a coat hanger. Now i have not driven it for a few days and the alarm just went off so i went outside to switch it off and its killed the battery but the problem is i now cant open the doors as in tony lacks wisdom he removed all the locks to stop people getting in :slap: So what do i do??? The funny thing is i had the same alarm fitted to my R32 last year and its all coming back to me now, after i had that one fitted i had battery problems ie it ran it down over about 48 hours!! The alarm is a gemini cat 1 thingy HELP BOB??
  9. there basically the same turbo but the 675's have been modified to fit the oem manifold where as the standard garrett gt28rs wont fit onto a oem manifold. as we have discussed paul, it all depends on where you want your power, if you want big midrange grunt and good top end then the bigger housing but if you want faster spoolup but wont make as much power then the smaller housing ;)
  10. the gt28rs will not spool up faster than stock!! there much bigger than stock turbos and yes for the size they are not too laggy but trust me they will be more laggy than a stock setup ;) as a few have said if you stick sus manifolds on there then it will help but still not as good as stock :) great turbos, i was gonna get them Mike
  11. Actually simon breaks a number of rules with his car but as he's a "big player" its not looked into and the whole event is about normal road cars and "ten of the best" roads cars, simons cut and shut evo is hardly a road car, as much i love the car its a pure demo/race car etc
  12. think its mainly fuel as it eats the silicon
  13. theres one for sale the the sales section ;) the cosmetic one
  14. to be fair the top ten cars at TOTB all ran in the 9's and even if greg d bought his car over here he would be lucky to run in the 10's as the tracks over here are crap compared to the US. didnt know you had run the 1/4mile iain? stick your slip up and stick it to em  dont get me wrong as i said its the taking part but i wouldnt enter unless i knew i had a chance of doing something?? Mike
  15. the problem is its always difficult to prove cetain things like a knife edge crank, it could have just been reground and balanced? tbh knifeedging a zed crank doesnt gain you anything really so i wouldnt worry too much about that, if you measure 87.5ish for the bore than there not standard pistons so it does ring true that there JE as they are 87.5mm :) not sure about the racing tuned bit??? turbos do look in good nick but again without cracking them open you wont know!! Does look like a metal HG as well so alot has been done to it :)
  16. its always difficult to judge performance figures, do you want acceleration?? in which case then dont bother trying with a zed as for less money you can get much acceleration, do you want top end then you cant go wrong with a zed, do you want mid range, again zeds rule, do you want 1/4 mile fun in which case zed are OK but not brilliant. what figures people have done, well your looking at low 4s 0-60, i have reached 180+ in my old zed and jaffa has a mid 12 sec 1/4 to his name so if you want a very fast street zed then a mid 11s 1/4 car will be a nice aim to go for ;)
  17. someone must have put them on before hand then ;) i used the greddy ones and lately the Z1 ones
  18. i think you guys are also getting confused with stroking an engine (and not in a sexual way LOL) the stroke is not the bore ie capacity its how far the crank pulls the piston/rod down ie the crank so to stroke an engine you would need a special stroker crank ie a jun one or a custom one. I was running a 3.2 on my old zed using 90mm greddy pistons but it was still running a standard stoke on a standard crank. all of the above may be shite but its what i understand to be right :)
  19. its just a stock paper gasket like on most other cars, tbh its good for decent power anyway
  20. 87.5mm would make it about 3050 ish, you can work it out exactly but i cant be arsed  but its slightly over bored mate but not quite a 3.1!! i just rebuilt an engine for paul300zx and his had 88mm which takes it to just uner 3.1 :)
  21. what gets me is the winner last year ie the norris evo, for one its been cut in half and shortened, then the roof was cut off and lowered, it has a side exhaust, runs race fuel, slicks and pretty much has 1 seat in it!! hardly a car you can use on the street to go to asda etc and IMHO and the most important rule any car that is allowed to enter should be (or have been) available to buy in a car showroom with that engine configuration etc so no granadas with super charged V8's or dodgy kit cars with V8s in them!!
  22. also just looked up and je only make a piston for the 300zx in 87.5mm so its possible that they are in there ;)
  23. no there not there normal head gaskets and you often get a little piston slap with forged until they warm up!!
  24. stock pistons are 87mm arnt they?? it would be running at least 87.5mm if it had forged pistons as it would need to be rebored so they may be 87.5mm forged pistons?? difficult to tell, have a look at the pistons and see if theres a nissan logo stamped in them as the stock pistons have that. the crank looks standard to me
  25. i know its the taking part that matters but i would only go in it if i could win some points and in all honesty against the big boys theres not much chance than a 300zx can win any points in the comp :( as i said if they made a section for genuine people who have built the cars themselves, running interiors, normal pump fuel, street tyres etc etc then we may stand a chance but TOTB are under pressure from the big tuners like abbey to let their cars in
