Hello all, With the great increase in petrol and road tax it is with sad news that I must take the ZX off the road. The Mrs has agreed that I can keep the car but we must buy a :( diesel :( car. So... I am going to keep the Z and use it as a track day car. A few questions popped into my head:- 1) If I SORN the car, as I will be at end of April can I still use the car on track day events (I will be getting a road trailer for it) 2) What things do I need to do to it to make the car safe? 3) What things can I do to it to make it faster? 4) What about insurance? 5) Where can I race her? Thanks in advance ZX_Steve PS There may be at some time in the future the possibility of having her back on the road so I wouldnt want to take her too far past road legal ;-)

Hello all, After getting home from work today I was just letting the Z cool down and turned the stereo off. I heard a whirring noise coming from the rear / boot area. Occasionally there was a clicking noise while the whirring was happening. Tried turning ignition off and back on again but the whirring returned. Didnt even need to turn engine on, the whirring came in when ignition was on. Is this something to do with the Hicas?? Can I 'reset' or check the system some how?? Thanks for replies, very helpful!! One other thing, will it affect my turbos at all. I hear so many people saying that they had a mate who knew someone who once owned a ZX and it blew their tubs etc etc. What is the actual answer. Hello guys, I am after some sound advice regarding upgrading my exhaust. I have been offered a Single bore exhaust conversion, i.e. all four OEM pipes just go into one pipe from the splitter. The bore is 3.5 inch at rear. Stainless steel construction. Photos:- and I was told this bolts on the back of the back cat. Is this true?? Are there any problems with the MOT if I install this exhaust?? (i.e. emissions) Also what do I need to do to the rear bumper?? Thanks in advance ZX_Steve

Has anyone got one of these alarms?? Its the one with the remote 'pager' that tells you when the alarm is going off, etc.... I have read the manual and it says to go into setup mode then pressing button 1 the amount of times I want set up. (11 or 14 for turbo timer) but whenever I try it it just beeps at me three times. No luck with it and Falcon Helpline is something like 65p / min. Anyone know anything about this?? Cheers ZX_Steve

Thats good, well not good but better that something much worse!! Is there a guide to removing water pump?? I have got fan cover off, and cant see how to get fan off / belts etc. I have both the pump and thermostat and belt. Is it worth replacing all in one go? Any guides would be most appreciated. I have a problem with coolant leaking for the last few days, getting gradually worse. Today it decided to pour out, I managed to get the car up and look underneath. I managed to take a photo of where it was leaking from:- This is a view from the underside of the car, sorry if its not to clear. I dont think its the thermostat leaking as I have checked around the housing. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks ZX_Steve

Erm, cant remember. Dont think I had anything left over from when I did it. So if I took them off the old pads then I would have thought to put them back on. Will check it this weekend. What could cause the noise if the shims are not in?? Is it the pads not sitting right when there is no braking force?? Cheers

Just replaced the rear pads on my ZX about 2 weeks ago. I now have a funny sound coming from, what i think is, the rear of the car. It sounds like a quiet clunk. Its more of a fast repetative thud but not loud really. I dont notice it when I accelerate but only when I coast. Any ideas. Cheers

Thought it might come to that!! I may well resort to that, is the consult port on the ecu aswell? (I know there is a seperate connector for it in drivers footwell) Cheers Steve
