If its only reving to 2500rpm it sounds like the MAF, try cleaning the connectors.

no bud, its cos they are a flat 4 or otherwise known as a Boxer engine. Where the two banks are at 180 deg from each other. As you can see here

Remove the top of the gauge cluster, then you will see a green and yello wire with a connector in it on the left, unplug that and you are done, and you still have the lights on warning chime :D

Hold is for bad weather etc, it dont change down so quickly and locks it to 2nd when pulling away, power is like sports mode and will come on when you boot it :D
