I guess its got to be worth disconecting battery and letting ecu reset... then start with easy (ish) stuff.. filter clean and fluid change ,, Have you looked at colour of fluid on dipstick ?

The police normally arrange to have the vehicle took away for fingerprinting.. or so they say cos you never hear of any arrests made... and i dont know why they can't let you recover your vehicle to your home in the first place, and have it fingerprinted at your home ?

Lee you have got nothing to lose by having a go yourself... after all if its crap you can rub it down again ( its the only way you will learn ) Most aersols now are Acrylic based ( celly is getting phased out to protect the world or summit like that ) Don't forget to put primer on first.... i'm sure there will be something online if you do a search for it..

Normally the switch is earthed thru the screw into the body of the car, hence you should only have one wire to the back of the switch

Always best to take a deposit and this will cover your time and costs if they are timewasters.....hope it works out ok for you

Check your door switches for them earthing out or your interior switch for loose wires... My boot light comes on with my interior light so it might be worth looking at this too

Fluid level should only go down with Pad wear and not require topping up... ( if you top it up it will only overflow when new pads fitted ) Have you any visible signs of a leak under the car ?

My Z failed on all metal brake pipes..( some were not that bad ) 2 garages wouldn't entertain doing them as it was too time consuming.. Ended of doing them myself PITA job but managed to do them without dropping the subframe.. ( just the exhaust back boxes were removed for access )
