New Member- help please
I've had mine for two months now, not been any trouble for me. Other than the issue that were with it when i bought it (clock, cruise ariel etc) but mechanically mine is spot on. But looking back through her history details that alot has been changed (PTU, full replumb of the cooling system, new gear box etc etc) Mine is an import , came into the country in 1997 and has to date covered about 59,300 miles. I think you've gotta be lucky, but also really try and find out why the vehicle is for sale, and also why its at a certain price. I paid £4500 for mine, heading towards top book for what it is, but i go out to it at 5 in the morning when its covered in ice and not been started for a week. Pop the key in and hey presto, she starts quicker than my van when its been running all day and its nice and warm!

UK spec dont have a dip switch infront of the gear leaver do they :p ;) (i'll look a twat if they do but for somthing else ;) lol)

just got it
it has three modes, power "middle" and hold The power mode (which will activate automaticlaly if you floor it into kickdown) holds gears if you back of the accelerator slightly and then give it some beans again (like a sport mode) Im not sure if this is true, but the power mode MIGHT also make the gear change more ferrocious/faster.... but that might just be me imagining things! The Middle which is normal driving, selects all the gears (assuming overdrive is enabled) and changes smoothly between each when it sees fit Hold mode, starts the car in second for smoother driver in town, tends to slip the gearbox alot and generally mushes around the gears, never really changing properly. Good for traffic or on the motorway, especially once its locked the transmission. This gear allows you to open the throttle quite away without the dam thing downchanging and taking of like a ballistic missile!

Unknown warning Light can anyone help
Mine did this last weekend, coilpack lead had jumped of. But not actually of the top of the connector, just risen 1cm or so.... Looked totally normal until a friend of mine lent into the engine back and caught it with his sleeve and it dropped back on... problem fixed. Mine also displayed this "cat overheat" light. But mine ran happily as a V5 ;)

Uprated Autobox
i hadnt seen this saw thing, just been reading up about it and it looks wicked. Does anyone know if you can set it back to fully auto? Or is it always in "manual" mode. I am the same, drive a manual van 1000 miles a week, so the auto is a nice change. But i do despair at times when it wont change when it should or when it locks up on a corner, how stupid it can be at times!

Time for some upgrades.
Would i need to do all of that work on that suspension work to get the best out of the other upgrades? Could i fit all this with workshop facilities or would it need to go to a specialist? are there Any specialist Places in the northwest for our cars? With regards to the brakes, im a bit wary about second hand skyline parts, do you think that rebuilt calipers and smithys big brake kit id be sorted for the odd track day? It seems to make more sence to me, but is it going to stop the car properly?? I have to admit im not the greatest drive in the world so im not needing touring car performance ;)

Time for some upgrades.
so where would i find some of said skyline parts? Surly there cant be that much in the way of second hand R33 and R34 skyline parts around. Any risk with second hand kit? or is it fairly reliable?

Time for some upgrades.
i think i'll have someone do it for me then... being chronically useless! If anyone knows where i could get that done, i live in the northwest, near lancaster. Then please speak up! :D

Time for some upgrades.
Well its my weekend driver. So It doesnt have to do a daily commute or anything. I only use it for a few personal miles, the odd short run on the motorway. Its had new steering arms on the back end. What else is worth changing? Where would i get it polybushed, or can i do that my self?

Time for some upgrades.
I attended a track day over the weekend, best day i've ever had. And the zed didnt totally fail so it was a sucessful day as well. But what croft has highlighted are some problems, in the stopping and cornering department. So my question is, best rubber for them, what are my options for brakes? And are there any outstanding suspension setups. I'm not working on an exact budget, more looking at the most improvment for the money spent. I've been to a local shop that have quoted me £460 for drilled and grooved disks front and rear and EBC red stuff pads, good plan or not? Thanks guys Chris
