Brand new pads might squeek for a while but def check your shims aren't gooed up! As Andy said copaslip will prob cure it, b19rks, think what you mention is "caliper creek", mine does this when my pads wear down a bit, forcing the pistons out further, I suppose. Its quite an annoying noise though! I've been told there isn't much you can do about it, but sure a strip down would sort it?

Jock, the viscous fan runs all the time, the main big one, as this is coupled straight to the engine but there is a small kinda back-up fan right at the front, I'm told this one would kick in if you were stuck in a traffic jam or similar situation. Get down on your hands and knees at the front and look up under or through the front bumper and you will see it.

Alright Jock, I did lacquer it in the end and althought it darkened it a bit it did give it a nice shiny and smooth finished look to it. I'm really, really pleased with how it turned out and want to say thanks for giving me the idea! Erm.........haven't actually got a digital camera but my mate has and he's about over the weekend. I'll bet my last Rolo that this is a faulty coolant temp sensor or the wiring to it, causing the little elec fan to run all the time. To start with take the sensor off and give it a good clean.
