Yes but you look at any site and they all save people money because of the knowledge sharing. What we don't do here is put enough back into the members IMHO. That is the whole point of this thread. You can get tuns of free technical info from US and Australian sites for free!! Please don't turn this into let's all sing " I'm so happy to get free advice for my 300zx, I'd gladly sacrifice one of my children because it's so amazing!!!" You join a club and you get free advice from other members - standard. It's not unique!! I'll shut up now!

To be honest mate I can wait a few hours for mine to go live if it means not paying them. I guess the automated action is the winner. Hmm still don't like the idea of paying them so much but hey, never mind. While you're here Andy, I can't figure out how much the account has gone up by on average for the last 3 years from looking at the figures in the link on the first page. What do we have left over each year on average after expenses?

Here we go...... That would be great if we had our own bit of basic kit for the region. And I bet that the neighbouring region would also come and join you. Like most people I am motivated by being fed!! Tell me there is a bbq and I'm on my way! The idea of subsidising tickets is bang on the money and ties in with my original point of "let's not put anymore money in the account, let's spend it on events" wether it's on equipment or subsidising tickets, it's all good!! low turn out is to be expected in the early days though mate, it's just the way things go until it gathers some momentum.

So how much did we pay paypal last year? Hang on before you answer that, let me just reach for my blood pressure pills!! Got them! go for it!! Can anyone else reading this please say if they would be ok to avoid pay pal? Or better still Andy as club treasurer how do you feel about putting up a poll? We could save £100 or so?

Thanks Jeff!
Was looking forward to racing at Japshow Finale at the weekend. Cruising up with the Hampshire Jap Car club boys (yes I know - Asot is not in Hampshire) and some spirited overtaking insued. Oooooh some of us where doing up to 70mph!! Not any faster than that at all I swear on the bible. Not at all, not even a little bit over! Any way, after booting it a few times the car started to hesitate under load!! It got progressively worse down the rev range until pulling away from a junction was like having an epileptic fit! Luckily by this time I was right outside Sant Pod!! Not a good start to my morning!! Unpacked the wendy House and set up before it started raining and then got on the phone to Jeff for some free advice!! And guess what I got?!! Just that. No, oooh this is going to cost you or well you need to bring it in to us, just straight on it - try this, try that and now do this, right, now try this, now do it standing on one leg and bingo, my car was running again. Great attitude, good bloke, happy to help when you need it most, not in it just for the money and knows his stuff. but less about me, this is about Jeff!! Only kidding!! Top Bloke and thanks again Jeff! OK so you are wondering what was wrong .................... I can't tell you or I'd have to kill you!! :shuriken:

OOOOOH!! Don't get me started on Foooooooooking paypal!! That's a high percentage of money we are chucking away. I would much rather you pm me the account details and I would happily do a bank transfer then it's free for everyone!! so we are saying that 5% of our annual membership fees are given away to paypal!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!! I hate them!!! can you look into just giving everyone the bank details? I know paypal is easy but so is transfering money from one account to another.

Let's not get too big too quick!! If we divide things up into regions then it quarters (or what ever) the size if the problem for storage and transportation. If each region has the same pod marquee and they can be joined together then we have a solution. If we have 4 small gas bbq's then we can have multiple bbq's when we bring everything together at national events!! Gennie and fuel best hired local to the event. Not too expensive. Vods has got pa equipment for the mids and I believe IanL can help out for the south so a start.

Check this out even though it's not the wind proof space age type thing but it gives an idea of what could work. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3x6m-EZ-Pop-Up-Party-Tent-Gazebo-Canopy-Waterproof-New-/230672550351?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Garden_Structures_Fencing_CV&hash=item35b527c9cf#ht_500wt_1113 These seem to be linkable, so if we had say four (one in each region), they could come together, two at a time, three at a time four at a time depending on where the event is. So for example two pods would be used at a south coast event if south west and south central wanted to attend an event. etc etc...

It works a treat mate. I organised something similar for the orange site last year and it created a great atmosphere. I also hooked up with a local butcher and got us all a good deal on breakfast packs and 10% off all purchases. We did a little convoy to the shops and it was quite cool. I'd happily do it again.

Hello bud!! Forgot you were the REO!! Whilst it's great that you are central and available for some events, you can't do it all on your own! You are better off pushing to get the regional guys some budget for the basics. Once you give someone something (banner, gazebo, bbq etc) they are more likely to do something with it. At the moment they have nothing!! To get different results we need to do different things!! As for cost, each event does not have to have a massive tent like JAE there are pods that can be bought for each region and then brought together to form a big tent like the 200sx and GTR boys do. They are cool and look very space age!! You see how this could work?? I think they are on ebay? can someone find them? Also, some events are just one dayers so banner, gazebo and BBQ is perfect. At the moment the events side is a bit like telling someone to go and get window cleaning work but not letting them have a bucket, sponge or ladder. Club van - forget it! too complicated. I'm sure once the club is seen to be putting more into events them the members will be more likely to volunteer free vans and gear etc.

Uh oh! I detect a moan delivered with a positive comment lol!! That's a pm issues to the club secretary mate. Mate no-ones judging you for being out of action. I feel the lack of enthusiasm in this area comes from the lack of money being spent by the club committee or who ever hold the strings on sticking up a banner and a simple regional gazebo and even a bbq at more events. There are loads going on. It seems like a chicken and egg situation but trust me, if we use the left over money wisely, it will improve the club no end. Car - no chance - only one person can drive it at once! I witnessed plenty of members helping each other and the club out at JAE so I can't see that being a problem once the committee have made the first move with funding. This has to start somewhere and it needs to start with the basic infrastructure which is IMHO regional banners kept by the REO , Maybe a small gazebo to start with and something that attracts everyone like a free gas BBQ. just bring your own food. Job done. From there we can build.

Don't even think about it!! lol!! I come back from Japshow Finale and every thread with club suggestions is deleted and/or closed!! You lot can't be left on your own for five minutes!!! And as for the members....:whistling: Only kidding! Right so, back to the point - For me, it's simple. 1. The club bank account grows by "an amount" per year. Fact. the figures are here http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=94723 but I can't tell if it's £1,500 or £2,500 after expenses per year. This is great news!! 2. The club account presently has £25,000 of the members money in it. Fact 3. Since the inception of the club there has never been a £25,000 emergency. Fact. What a great position to be in!! We have £25,000 in the bank and we have never needed to use it!! I'm sure we have insurance so it should not be needed anyway. My suggestion is that we stop growing the deposit by what ever it is per year and instead spend the net amount from the previous year on this years members in the way of Japanese car events or events of some description. Let's divide this left over budget into each region and see what events we all want to attend by a member poll. This should result in more localised meets and I expect that each region will want to attend some of the same events such as JAE, Japshow etc. So not only are we doing more regionally but also nationally. As for the £25,000 I would like to see some of this invested in capital equipment such as banners for each region and gas BBQ's. Yes I love my food! What do the REO's think? What does the NEO think? What do the members in each region think?? Cheers!
