Locking doors
The car i'm purchasing is going to have the doors looked at before I pick it up. The car is a swb 300zx tt manual The key fob only disarms or arms the alarm, you actually have to unlock and lock the car with the key (not sure if this is the same with all zeds?) When you unlock the car with the key, open the door and shut it to again (whilst still outside the car) the door locks itself. This happens for both passenger and drivers side doors. Does anyone know why this would happen?

So if I wanted the car uping in boost by fitting a boost controller, possibly some colder plugs and bigger injectors.... can the blitz ecu easily be remapped by the likes of zedworld and other mappers around the country?

The zed import i'm buying has a Blitz ECU listed as one of the mods that was made by the previous owner. Is this an entirely new ecu? is it another name for a chip? If it's a chip then if I decided to purchase a boost controller and up the boost, would this be safe? The car already has filters & exhaust.

What documents should I get? I was told that the DVLA keep a lot of the documents and your more than likely only going to get the v5. I'm not even sure if there is a service manual with the car as this would all be in japanese?

ITs not my money im not paying them to check it. The garage im buying it off is sending it to them at their own expense. The wheel bearing has definately gone on the car so that will need to be done before I pick it up. I'm praying I don't get raped on insurance.

Hope its all good. Another question... I've had an insurance quote which was fairly good on a UK manual twin turbo. I'm dreading come Monday when I ask for a quote on an import. Is it really gonna hurt my wallet that bad:(?

What are these mods? So with a UK clock/speedo its just a case of swapping them over? It says on the spec it has a blitz ecu... would not that take off the limiter? Is this just another word for chipping it or is there a whole new ecu on it?

It was weird driving it around when the clocks and spedo read in km. How much is it to convert the dash to mph so i know if im speeding in a 30 zone :)

Its had 1 previous UK owner. Sounds good news about the bar reader rather than psi. So most come with boost gauges in psi not bar? I'm sure it went to 0.6 bar and if took a little higher upto the rev limiter would probably go above 0.6 bar.

I thought that and mentioned it to the bloke when I was test driving it. Why would it be in that and how do you get it out of it? Zedworld are going to test it all out and my deposit is refundable should there be any problems with it. Cambelt etc has already been done and it idled perfectly.

It's also going to be checked out at Zedworld which is just down the road from the dealers garage and have a check over on it and make sure everything is running as it should be. I'm so excited. Will come with tax, mot and 1 years warranty. What do you think? Any history with this car people know of? Also, what should be its maximum boost? When I was test-driving it today the needle didn't particularly move much but the turbos seemed to kick in. The dash reads 0.4 to 1.4 on the boost gauage and I barely saw it go above 0.6 but I wasn't particularly driving it hard. What rpm should it be at max boost? It sounds sweet as. Hope someone can answer my Q's.

Very much appreciate the offer mate. Unfortunately I can't make it Sunday as i've got to start repairing my mrs write off. I will however definately make an appearance to another meet should I get a zx which i'm sure I will pretty soon as it's looking promising. Thanks, the guide was helpful. Roughly how expensive is it to change the cambelt on a zed? Is it usually engine dropped out jobbie or can it be done with the engine in?

So i'm guessing the zeds are big money pits? More so than the S14s? I've driven a twin turbo supra before with an auto box... what's the auto boxes like in the 300zx's? Is manual 100% better? I've never owned an auto before and would prefer manual, although a lot seem to be auto for sale on here. Ideally i'd want a black, manual, tt.

Hi guys, I registered some time ago because I was very interested in purchasing a 300zx but I ended up purchasing a 200sx S14a instead. The S14a was a nice car and I eventually sold it and i'm now back on the hunt for a 300zx again. This time i'll hopefully buy one and not get distracted by something else. Has anyone gone from an S14 to a 300zx or vice versa? How did you find it? Much of a difference? My S14 was running near enough 300bhp at stage 2 mods. Similar levels of torque. The 200sx was chain driven...are the 300zx's chain or belt driven? If purchasing a 300zx what "needs" to have been done to show its been well maintained? I'll be having between £4-6.5k cash to spend on a zed, depending on exactly how much I wanna shell out and what kind of deal/car crops up. What kind of power do the manual gearboxes withstand? same for the standard clutch? I see the long wheel, short wheel base and standard 300zx cars available for sale...what's the advantage of having the different wheel bases and are there any different variations in engine performance on these cars? Smoking from exhaust
As stated in the thread he said it's probably the seals... Is this expensive? time consuming? Does he mean the gaskets in the exhaust? If I was to change the exhaust and gaskets, would this resolve the issue?
