changing speedo from 120MPH to 180MPH
Hello, i purchased some ingaglo dials, and unfortunately they are different. Turns out, my speedo (which is in KM/H and why am changing dials) is off. Is there a simple resistor change or something to adjust the speedo range? Mine is a 120MPH speedo, and the replacements are a 180MPH face. Many thanks, as I don't really want to purchase a new speedo cluster, or new indaglo dials. I know... should have checked first...

Enkei Wheels
Hello, Does anyone have any contacts who deal with Enkei wheels? I have a split in the rim on one of them and are looking to get it fixed. I read from a website (http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/enkei_racing/enkei_racing.jsp) that they have a lifetime structural warranty, and I'd like to see about. Yes, i have the racing series RPF1-RC. My local wheel shop doesn't know about it. Cheers.

something like an external USB soundcard. for instance: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sound-Blaster-Extigy-USB-Soundcard-Dolby-Digital_W0QQitemZ330202411726QQihZ014QQ or this: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=399B there may be others, as you only need a usb->digital sound adaptor but dunno if anyone makes them.

This Toshiba 32WLT68 is an LCD Television which has a display resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Thus, your best (& easiest) bet would be to set you external VGA monitor resolution on the laptop to 1280x768x75Hz. Its the closest to the actual LCD screen. For the ultimate picture quality, using the powerstrip utility you should create the resolution of 1366x768, meaning the TV doesn't have to do anything to the signal to display it. I think from memory, somewhere in there it already has this setting as 1366x768 is standard LCD resolution for a 720p. Alas, setting your screen resolution to 1280x768 ought to look damm fine.

The quality of the picture also is dependent on the encoder used to make the DIVX files. point your browser to http://www.doom9.org for a pretty concise site and forums on the topic. One other thing, is that you may want to tweak the display settings on your laptop's VGA out. Find out what your TV is, whether its a 1080p or 720p. Example: 1080p resolution is 1920×1080 60Hz 720p resolution is 1280×720 However, it may be better to run your output at 1080i, which is the same resolution as 720p but a higher framerate, depending on what HD content your telly can run. Check your LCD's manufacturer's spec on the physical actual size of the screen to create a true pixel-pixel reproduction. Some run at 1920x1088 or 1920×1200 for instance and you may as well get the exact size of the output to stop the TV having to do compression or other things to fit the screen, which will degrade the picture quality you see. I suggest you install Powerstrip http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm Its a very handy tool for tweaking the video drivers which most manufactures hide. This will also allow you to create your own resolution and timing modules so you can tune exactly your VGA output to your LCD screen. To really test the quality of your system, download some HD content from the internet. Here is one: http://www.stage6.com/user/trav1085/video/1859436/Adrenaline-1080p which you can download here: http://video.stage6.com/1859436/.divx and http://www.stage6.com/Movie-Trailers/video/1100807/Shooter-Trailer-HD-1080P http://video.stage6.com/1100807/.divx and of course, a better player. Windows media player is kinda shit, though if the files you've downloaded may have DRM (digital rights management) embedded in them in which case you are stuck with the windows one. This player, Video Lan Client is bloody good: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ you may want to install newest codec pack as they do improve with age and development: http://www.xpcodecpack.com/

Alloy Wheel Cracked
Seems there are many places who can refurb wheels, recoat etc. I discovered that you can purchase on the great ebay (and clearly other places) a powder coat machine and powder, alas the kitchen oven would have to be used for the baking process. But from what I've been reading up, welding and fixing broken/split aluminum and alloy composites is quite a refined art.

Alloy Wheel Cracked
Hello, i recently took my wheel in to get what i thought was a puncture repaired, however it turns out that the alloy ha begun to split a bit around the inside rim edge. The crack is abuot 2-3cm long direction square across the entire rim. Is this fixable, or is this a terminal sickness my wheel now has? Anyone know some whell repair places around Cambridgeshire area? thanks.

Is glass fibre reinforced plastic (i have seen an advertisement) a kinda hybrid mixture, or is it just marketing language - that the resin is a plastic based product and the fibres are still just glass - and could in fact be called fibreglass to anyone else?

O2 sensor
would this suggest that a small inline resistor at MOT time could infact trick the engine to running rather lean?

VG30DETT in another vehicle?
hello, mate managed to acquire an engine, and rather than put it in a z32 was wondering what other vehicles could it be put into? Say the Pathfinder 4WD or maybe a van or a ute? Any kit cars which would like this engine? Just tinkering with ideas at the moment, the engine is running too good to part out. Cheers.

Coolent Woes
Hello, was wondering what the symptoms are of a leaky radiator cap? I seem to be putting in a lot of water each time i check, however its the same amount each time which is making me wonder if the pressure is not holding in the radiator and its squirting out the top? There is evidence that water is coming out under the cap and dripping down the side. Roughly, what level should the water be when you look into the radiator when its hot/cold? The temperature guage on the dash registers properly (it slowly goes up, then sits just below 90degrees), but recently ran a conzult check on it, and along with the boose sensor the water temp sensor was not signaling the ECU. (both are now fixed...luckily simple clean of terminals) Thus, really my question is what happens when the ECU has no temperature sensor reading? Many thanks.

Datascan
My advice, get one. Its kinda useful to be able to watch your car over time, and see if trends change. Datalogging and comparing over a year and such. Checking to see if airflow is ok, being able to switch off cylinders, controlling other parts of the engine can help to troubleshoot that annoying - 'which one is ticking more than the rest' type scenario - as being able to see the O2 sensors etc. For instance, here are some logs of the output: http://www.blazt.biz/downloads/Dataloglibrary.php Cheapest i've seen in ebay is about £30 or so.

rear demister - one element not working
You can purchase a pen where the ink is conductive. I've used it before, but only to fix little nicks in the tracks caused by scratching the inside of the windows with luggage, building materials etc. http://buy.maplin.co.uk/Free_UK_Delivery/Conductive_Pen_33837/Conductive_Pen_33837.htm The problem is, that you really need a resistance paint. what probably happened in the case of fairladyzgirl's screen, is that all the current for the entire matrix went into one element. What ever was at the sides of the screen 'should' have burnt out long before getting hot enough to pop the screen.

Car Network Computer
Hello, have been reading up a bit on the Asus Eeepc. Its around £200 CPU: Celeron M 900 MHz, L2 cache 512 MB RAM: 512 MB DDR2 400 MHz Storage: 4GB solid-state flash disk Graphics Integrated - Intel 910GML series chipset with 400MHz memory bus Screen: 800 x 480 7" TFT; external monitor can be driven up to 1600 x 1200 using the VGA connector Audio: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FB/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04); Realtek ALC662 Ports: 3 USB2 ports, MMC/SD card reader, D-SUB out connector, 10/100 Mbit Ethernet port, Kensington lock slot, Headphone jack, Microphone Jack Webcam: 0.3 megapixel webcam set into the bezel. 640 x 480 resolution Battery: 4 cell 5200 mAH Other: Atheros Ar5BX63 built-in wireless module for 802.11b/g wireless internet access I reckon, its just asking to be ripped apart and put into a dashboard. It runs Windows (xp) and also Linux, but I'm going to use VirtualBox (http://www.virtualbox.org) as the only windows things I need are really Consult stuff - which runs a usb-serial adapter sweet. Sadly, the screen is not touch. But, careful mounting of a thumbball or similar would make it a breeze it think. the keyboard is small - perhaps on the visor? the other good thing, as well as batteries is that the power input is 12v, and very low wattage. maybe put the webcam next to the reversmirror... stored music/movies on a external drive. Dunno about the sound quality, but an external USB next to the amp in the boot will probably be best. all in all, looks like a good thing. Its powerful enough to play divx movies, run Tomtom, run video conferencing... list goes on. for anyone interested, i'm working on adhoc wireless networking. Think- like a meshed network of 'friendly' nodes much like a spider web - that join and part when close to each other - to work alongside gpsdrive http://www.gpsdrive.de/

Waxoil
Hello, a freind of mine who owns a garage recommends that I get a treatment of waxoil done on the underneath of the car. He is offering to do it for free for me (or probably giving me the tools and gunk and saying do it yourself... ;) ) What are peoples thoughts on this? Anyone have it done?
