I'm gonna say no for this now sorry, as I probably wont have the zed by then, and wouldn't want to trackday it anyway if I'm selling :) Pete
  2. They should check it - my old Fiesta's alternator packed in and killed my electrics on the M6 earlier this year. The AA bloke knew exactly what he was doing with a multimeter and even took me to Halfords off the next junction to buy a new one, and fitted it there and then, v impressed. I think the zed's alternator is a bit more difficult to get to IIRC, try a search. Pete
  3. 4 and 6mm - get them from Smithy in the traders section ;) They go on snugly on their own, I cant think of any that need jubilee clips, other than where you're replacing a hose that has a clip anyway. HTH Pete
  4. Yep me too. Doubt there's a difference between UK and Jap earth straps, old electrics are old electrics ;) Yeah I also read the post on gtr.co.uk about the guy whose ECU ballsed up because of a bad earth, busting his engine  :( Makes it even more worth doing IMO :) Pete
  5. But it sounds like nightbreeder already has a secondary earth strap which will have been improving the earth anyway. I bet if he took it off the car wouldn't run as well ;) Pete
  6. I bought some stuff called Engine Degreasant from Helfrauds and it does the job. Spray on, leave for a moment then rub with a rag and toothbrush. Rinse and repeat elsewhere ;) Also that Autosol Chrome Cleaner on a rag works wonders on most stuff under the bonnet, not just shiny metal :) It will fade your engine bay paintwork if you use it on that so just use it on unpainted bits. It will take ages if your engine bay is dirty but the result is worth it, and not difficult to keep that way once its had a good clean. Pete
  7. Nice work TC, another zed with stronger electrics now :D:D Looks great too  Pete
  8. Only just read this: Damn that IS a good idea! Will do that on me next motah then  Pete
  9. Hehe yeah credit to Matty, he got there first  You had a decent drive yet? What difference has yours made. Wanna have a Grounding Posse?? By invitation only ;) :D:D:D:dance: Pete
  10. There was a great thread a couple of months ago where people posted stoopid things they've done. Well I added to my own personal list today, technically it wasn't 100% my fault ;) but it was still funny :d Washed the car last night, that was the 'my fault part', dont wash your car before a frosty night... Went to use it this morning to give it a run out, struggled with the lock on the driv door as it was frozen so got in the passenger door, sat in car with heaters blowing defrosting etc getting late for meeting client, and finally set off. Pulled in to fill up at the Shell garage in Leamington 30mins or so later and both doors were frozen shut!! I couldn't get out lol. It was 5 to 9 and I was 5 minutes away from my 9am appointment :S I tried both doors but they were stuck, giving them as much grief as I dared. I managed to push up the pass side targa roof to shout to a bloke at the next pump who kindly grabbed a bowl of hot water from inside the garage which relesed my from my Zed-prison. Embarrassed to say the least  At least I wasn't in a BMW, no-one would've helped, and rightly so ;) Please add your own stories of embarrassment to distract attention from mine :D:D;) Happy New Year Pete
  11. Hi mate, I'lltry my best to describe ;) There are 4 leads, I soldered a ring connector onto each end of all 4. Lead1: Battery -ve to bolt behind RHS throttle body, pic3 Lead2: RHS Throttle body to bolt holding fuse box to wing. Lead3: Battery -ve to bolt on balance bar, pics 1&2. Lead4: Bolt on balance bar to bolt holding a bracket to to bulkhead, pic2, by autobox dipstick. The wire I bought from a motor factors, it says "Autoleads 12V Power Cable 8mm^2" along the side. I got 2metres as thats all they had, I would've bought more but the 2 metres was just right for the four connections I made. Yep I just undid the bolts, cleaned the mating surfaces up and refitted with the ring connector attached. Hope that helps Pete
  12.  He wasn't smiling for long when he realised Snowy was taking a leak on his rear valance :D Good work Jock mate! Pete
  13. Happy new year to all, quiet night for me too with a chinese (food  !) and some posh wine to myself and it's all I could find lol ;)
  14. Sorry mate  That was just a noise ;):D Group buy on vowels? :D
  15. PMSL @ Paul  We'd need a group buy on Skyline brakes first though :D:D
  16. Ace, cheers Cos, good man! I'll put you a cheque in the post -was it £35? Re the pics: You look silly now, better edit quick  Pete ;)
  17. Battery and other 2 grounding points:

  19. Spent about an hour today making up and fitting 4 new earth wires with connectors. In red and yellow of course :D:D:D I made sure all the earthing points I connected them too were nice and shiney and conductive ;) Very easy job with a soldering iron, screwdriver and 10mm spanner ;) Immediately upon startup I noticed the idle settled straight to 800rpm whereas normally it would spend a few seconds dropping from 1,200rpm. Idle noise was smoother. I blipped the throttle whilst stationary and the change was obvious. I didn't think anything was out of order before but now the revs react quicker to stabbing the throttle, and the exhaust note is smoother and the rise in note sort of more linear as you press the throttle, and less/no overrun on the revs when you back off. Driving the car it seemed a fair bit pokier, smoother and gear changes actually felt a bit more forceful, dunno if thats the ALC's input now being stronger?? I only took it a couple of miles and didnt try anything silly as its wet. I'm well chuffed with the results, and it looks good too - see pics. And best of all it cost me less than £7!! :D:D:D:cool: I expect people to reply with it being due to the ECU resetting whilst the battery was unhooked, but it was more than that. Ok I bet the effect is mainly because the earth strap is old etc but the difference is there. Thoroughly recommended - do it! Pete
  20. LOL I've got a Mondeo already Macca, as my daily driver ;) Fas I ain't going nowhere :D Cheers Pete
  21. I think the first description is easily sufficient, it states twice that it's plates only. The seller probably added the second bit as a result of the high bids. I'm sure the winning bidder wont end up paying £700odd quid for them lol but it'd be good to see what happens :D
  22. Speaking of strange bids - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2212747006&category=421 LOL Someone hasn't read the description properly  Dumbass :D:D:D Your bid is a contract mate
  23. LOL Are you still full of cold from last time, standing in puddles under the leaking disabled stand, waiting for one sideways run? ;) Hopefully it'll be a crisp, dry, albeit cold day. Pete
  24. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2450501898&category=26432 LOL  Looks pretty genuine  Pete
