Grounding Kits
The car learns new settings all the time, but takes a while to do it. Unhooking the battery for an hour or so simply does it quicker. Taking it out for a good blast afterwards will teach it all it needs to know lol :D By "ready to learn" I mean wiping its memory of any errors, creating a clear canvass. Sort of. So no - theres no need to do it. Mind you - Skyline owners do theres as a kind of regular service item. Any thoughts on this? Pete

Grounding Kits
Takes 30-60mins to fit, the ECU will usually have reset by then due to negative terminal being disconnected. The car wont run rough due to an ECU reset, its just "ready to learn" any new settings, and has cleared any stored error codes.

Grounding Kits
Cheers for that Andy. I've had a lot of great positive feedback (on ebay mostly) for these, and a few where the kit hasnt made any difference, like Andy so eloquently puts it ;) Cheers Pete

350Z for sale already.
I test drove one for an hour a couple of weeks back and I was well impressed at the handling. It still felt heavy but had no problems booting it round the B-Roads in the wet. Straight line acceleration felt well down on the 300, although the power being more linear is probably deceptive. The engine note was lovely and willed you to rag it lol. It was £24k IIRC, and £28k for the GT pack 350Z, which does look nice. Still not a patch on my 300ZX though  Pete

not enough respect for a supercar!!!
I often think the same thing. Even the Jap car magazines rarely mention the 300ZX  I guess by putting for example an Impreza in EVERY (anyone else noticed that?) issue they are pandering to the masses, understandable so I guess. Scoobies are so common nowadays tho, when reading Banzai or the like I flick past the Imprezas usually hehe. Maybe it's because we are so rare, mysterious and exclusive? ;) Pete

TRAX 2004 - miniTrack session
Sounds good Stuart, tyres/brakes/etc is a fear of a lot of people I reckon :) Its cheap enough to pay in advance and not be too worried about niggles beforehand. Pete

Tony - you CAN push the car in Drive with the engine off, I've just tried :) Well backwards, but I presume it'll go forwards too. Pete

1/4 mile times
Yeah but not too many revs, only between 1,500-2,000 or it'll either pull through the starting beam or burnout lol. Its completely different in a manual though where you'll have to try out what revs you can dump at given the road surface. High enough to prevent bogging down and low enough to prevent too much wheel spin. A little bit of wheel spin is good as it keeps your revs up. Adam - do you drop the clutch on the line or feed it in? Pete

1/4 mile times
My best time on stock boost, with exhaust, intake and decat downpipes was 14.3 @ 99mph. Boost now at 12.5psi, SE chip, with ALC and fatter rear tyres my best is 13.4 @ 107. I'm sure I can beat it, though maybe not at Santa Pod. Pete

sounds a bit like detonation??
Could well be the exhaust heatshield rattling? Does it happen under boost? If the car was detonating on idle - it would go into safety boost, is it doing this? Pete

Big THANK YOU No/ 1

Breaking the law
Yeah FFS what is wrong with this country, people always have to blame somebody?!! - usually the motorist . Every time a kid is hit by a car or similar accident, the PC/antimotorist/whatever brigade want to string the car driver up :xxx: Clearly the kid not looking and stepping out into the road unexpectedly had nothing to do with it... Dont get me wrong - I'm the first to critisize bad driving, but thats the "crime" that should be punished - BAD DRIVING, not just "speeding". Reminds me of the email viral with the US News presenter asking the womens rights lefty if she was a prostitute as she was "equipped to be one"... Speed doesnt kill, pulling out on people does, overtaking round blind corners does, driving inappropriately for the conditions does, inattentiveness does. The campaign by the government "Speed Kills" is nothing more than propaganda to drum up acceptance for their money making schemes. lol Pete
