the old r12 system is banned now they get converted to r134a, sounds like you got a leak, need to get the to put in some air con dye. run the system up and when your air con goes again then use a uv light and check the system, and you will see where the dye has leaked out from

Just had a quote come through for my yearly insurance cover, for both cars fully comp im looking £2000, but as im 25 in july i thought id see how much it would be to insure then! for both car just over £1300!!!!!!!!!!! i think i can catch the bus for one month lol. £700 just because im 24for one month!! going to speak to the insurance company tomorrow and see if they will let the one month go and do the cover as im 25. well my Z is fecked now, headgaskets gone and undrivable but i was thinking of a rebuild but thats going to cost me atleast £2000 and more when ive brought tools aswell. so was thinking of a change all together. or a Z in really good condition, if there is any about lol

Sorry for so many threads at the moment about my engine rebuild but first time ive done this so learning curve. As the headgaskets have failed on my engine i was going to get the heads skimmed but how do i know which size replacement gasket to order? or do i have to wait for the machinest to tell me the size?? Found a leak from the radiator which i thought was where the coolant was going down from, filled the car with water to get me home from work, just started her up and theres more water coming out the exhausts. looks like me headgaskets have gone lol really glad im doing an engine rebuild now. just hope the heads are ok and havent damaged them. Just got the car in the air to do the water leak (rad p*ssing out at bottom) but while checking the underneath i found a plug disconnected on the same split loom as the steering rack motor? does anyone know what its for?

hi smithy, the list you got there was what i was thinking of for 2k with rods. i really just want the engine to be strong and reilable. and most of this wont need doing again if i then decide in future to upgrade. thanks all

Just got a rough guide of all my parts for the rebuild, will be looking around about £6000! think ive gone over kill at the moment saying ive only was looking to spend £2000 lol started out being a minor rebuild, pistons and recon the turbos keeping standard injectors etc. then i got carried away building a monster lol large turbos, upgraded cams, injectors, etc etc lol. might go back to orignal plan for time being lol.
