hi m8 depends on what yer doin with em after stripping, the normal procedure for stipping would be 1, cleaned in caustic and other addatives then put in hydrochloric acid to remove plate.

as long as the beam of light from the gauges can reach the other gauges it can be tracked m8 and the settings should be the same

hi m8 don't need to fit in pairs unless ther's something wrong with the other one
