  1. Ah, didn't come in a box :/ All I have is the sensors/leads/connectors themselves, no packaging, sorry :(
  2. OK, i"m drunkm but he just mailed back so I figured I'd post. he measured across the thread with an adjustable spanner and a ruler, got about 18mm (says it was more like 17.5 on one, but a tad over 18 on the other). I'm guessing that'sM18 :P That any good to ya, pal? *hic*
  3. OK :) Well, I've mailed him with instructions. He works odd hours, so it may take him a day or so to respond. Hopefully he should be able to find the things though :S
  4. Well, I'll send my tenant a mail and see if he can (a) find them; (b) determine the thread size - what would be the best way to do this?
  5. Silly thing is, I have a pair of new O2 sensors sitting at my house in Nottingham, doing nothing - but I'm in Warrington, so I can't check for you :( If you can't get any joy anywhere else, let me know. I can call my tenant and see if he can find the things, and either measure the thread or just hold onto them so you can pop round and measure them yourself.
  6. Heya! This is Brian from outside Warrington Homebase this afternoon :) Sorry I had to rush off but my mate had to catch a train back to Manchester :S Thought I'd post to let you know who I am on here, and wish you good luck sorting out the car - if you do a search for C&S Woods, you'll see Phil gets alot of praise. Highly recommended :) Anyway, get it sorted so I can scav a ride in it :P I've never been in a TT before, and I've always preferred the yellow to my red :'( Was good to talk with ya, bud :)
  7. Appreciate the heads-up, znut :) I've been sucked in by the same kind of behaviour on the twisties of the A6. It's especially bad in the dark - the bright headlights filling the rear view blind me to any sign it's a cop, and make it feel even more threatening. I'm a short guy in a low car, and I have enough difficulty peering through the steering wheel without the whole cockpit being floodlit :'(
  8. FunkySi, my mate got into some stock hatch racing thing for 205GTis a couple of years ago, and has been doing it ever since. He keeps blowing things up before he actually finishes though :/ It takes all his spare money, all his spare time is spent fixing the car, his garage and front garden are covered in donor cars... but he loves it, says it's a ton of fun ;)
  9. I don't know much about it, but I'd guess there'll be a duty fee on top of the base price (about 10%?), plus you'll need to register it over here, for which it'll need an SVA test (and some modifications to get through this, like rear fog light). I was looking into importing a Sera a few years back, and buying a car from JP auctions for £1.5k was going to end up costing £3-3.5k by the time it was on the road over here. FOB, apparently, means "free on board" - the seller is considered to have delivered when the car crosses the ship's rail at the port of shipment, and everything else is your responsibility *gulp* Personally, I'd look into an importer who will take care of all the administrative stuff (sorting duty, registration, SVA, etc), as it's a lot less hassle and would only cost you a few hundred more. That's entirely personal, though - I'd rather spend a bit more than stress over the details.
  10. 01942 892568 561 Manchester Rd, Astley I don't know how much they know about audio bits, but it's worth a try. Phil is the chap who knows Zs there - I didn't have to ask for him, though... they just put him on as soon as I said it was a 300 ;)
  11. I like the wood effect trim on the centre console and round the clocks. It's very tasteful. :wack:
  12. Hmm, good luck with that ;) I *assumed* mine was over-fuelling, because that's certainly what it seemed to be when the problem started. I changed the O2 sensors because one was lazy and one was dead... still got cat overheat :/ The mechanic showed me my old plugs, and said they were fine, and not showing any signs of running rich, so it looks like the replacement O2s sorted the problem, but the knackered cats are still showing the symptoms. heh :) Course, the 2k cold idle is gone now, so that must've just been down to dirty filters.
  13. Daz, just a follow-up on this (although I dunno how helpful it will be). The car had a full service yesterday, and it seems to have sorted the high cold idling. Not sure what it could have been - the chap changed oil & filter, air filters (was last done about a year ago, I think), fuel filter (last done about 3 years ago, maybe) & plugs. He said the plugs looked fine, so it was maybe just a combination of dirty air filters and an old fuel filter (I'm not sure how often the fuel filter should be changed? :S). The only other thing he mentioned doing was that he said the timing (?) was 4 degrees out, so he fixed that but said it was unlikely to make too much difference. The cat overheating problem is still there, but he reckons the engine is running fine, and it's more likely that my cats are damaged from when my last PTU failed on one cylinder. SUMMARY: problem fixed by full service inc all filters & plugs. Joy :)
  14. Stu, I've just moved up to Warrington myself, from Nottingham, so I was in the same boat. I took these guys' advice and went to C&S Woods yesterday for a full service.. I was very impressed. Phil there obviously knows the Z pretty well, was happy to listen to me droning on about any little problems I was having, intended mods, etc. The work was done in a few hours (even though I'd been vague about what time I'd turn up), and there were no nasty financial surprises. I think they even washed it! :o The car runs sweet now :) So yeah, C&S Woods in Astley would be a good choice - the place looks like a standard village garage, but Phil knew his stuff and seemed to care :)
  15. My bad, Legrath, sorry! Try MJP first then - you can find him in the Traders forum :)
  16. I've got a spare pair if you need em, but they're in Nottingham, and I'm in Warrington :S Try DaveC first though - he's bound to have em, they'll be a good price, and he delivers fast :P If he can't give you any joy, let me know :)
  17. Well yeah, I know what you mean - probably just something dirty somewhere. Mine's taken a turn for the worst this last couple of days - cat light goes on as soon as it warms up now, and I *swear* the oil pressure's lower than before :S Glad it's booked in on Tuesday ;)
  18. Zclub have a similar thread up at the moment, where one of the members got information about registered Zs from the DVLA: http://www.zclub.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4678 It's not very convincing, though, plus it doesn't seperate Z31 from Z32, and doesn't list SWB NAs :( General consensus is that the figures are wrong, so they're doing that same as you lot. My 2p: SWB NA Z32 here :)
  19. Yes! :) The sizes can be different, though, so be ready for that. Bad luck on needing to do the bypass :(
  20. I've got something similar - the jump in revs seems to happen when I'm trundling around in gear with the revs *below* this high idle - once I take it out of gear, it's like it's jumping up to compensate, then slowly dies down. The car also seems to be over-fueling - I've been getting the cat overheat light more and more over the past year. It doesn't run rough though, just has the warning light until I back off long enough for it to go away. I'm off to C&S Woods next week for a service, and Phil said he'd see if he could work out what's happening. The problem's been ongoing for a year or so, since I had the PTU fail on one cylinder, and both O2 sensors go (dunno if that's relevant), but it's been too intermittent to catch. I suspected the AFM in my ignorance, but a ConZult check said it was ok :/ This cat overheat's so regular now, hopefully we can get it this time. SUMMARY: I have a similar problem, along with overfuelling; I'll letcha know if C&S Woods manage to sort it :)
  21. Could be ISP dodginess too... I run Win98SE at home, and the only problems I've had like this were when I couldn't access MSN and Yahoo profiles. It was something to do with NTL, I think - I manually stuck in a proxy IP and it sorted it. My point? I don't know... if you're with NTL, that might be worth thinking about. You on broadband, dial-up, ADSL? Norton would have been my other guess, but that's been checked :( Other thing to try would be a spyware scan - run AdAware or similar, see what it finds, and let it delete anything it doesn't like. Also, as takemetothepub says, make sure you have IE6 (click Help -> About Internet Explorer, and see what it says for version number). I'd recommend against shops too - they'll either do nothing useful, or just tell you they have to reinstall the whole lot (which you could do yourself easily - I'm sure everyone here will help you on that if you're not sure what to do). Good luck sorting it :) Interweb problems like this are annoying and can be hard to track down, esp with an older OS and something as unfriendly as Norton ( I use Sygate Personal Firewall - it's free, and works like a dream on Win98). Occurs to me as well that it may be worth a quick check of startup items, in case there's anything dodgy that AdAware or Norton haven't caught. It's not very user-friendly, though :/ Click Start -> Run -> type "msconfig" , then the startup tab on the new window. That will bring up a big list of all the chaff that starts running when you log into windows. Look for anything spyware or virusy, but be careful not to untick any Norton entries. I've lost my link to lookup tables for startup items, but you can google any filenames you're not sure about, or ask in this thread. It's alot of effort on a fairly long shot, though. ^WALL OF TEXT'D!!^ Summary: run AdAware scan, check IE version, avoid shop :)
  22. But, as mrogers said, it's as Legrath said, that marcus said it's Fitzy's (or so he believes..). I was trying to find out which licensing office the YBU is from, but it turns out that only the BU is a regional identifier (for Manchester! yay!). So the Y is part of the same unique serial number that the preceeding digits are - i.e. for G***YBU: G is the year, ***Y is the unique serial number, BU is the regional identifier for Manchester. In other words, it's still a healthy coincidence that so many of us have the Y combined with the BU. I was expecting to find that they were all reg'd near Southampton docks or something, though... :S I'm glad to have finally got round to finding out how the pre-2001 regional identifiers worked - as a kid I used to "collect" car regs, and it's something that's been bugging me. I am a sad person.
  23. Haha, that spooked me out! My regn is G*** YBU as well, only it's on a red shortie that wasn't at JAE :'( Well I never....
  24. Hmm, not a member of the RAC any more as their recovery just wasn't as good as the one I got with insurance :/ Trevz, cheers :) I saw that guy's name on ABD, could be worth a call. I got the NIP in the post, well within time, and the photos came with the summons - three pics from the rear, clear as day, very close up. It's odd cos there's a large van coming in the other direction that seems to have moved further than my car between the pictures.. but the readout says "-57mph" - negative, so it was measuring a receeding speed. The device was one of these LTI20.20 things - apparently pretty dodgy and prone to erroneous readings, but I don't think I have a hope in hell of appealing down that route, or they wouldn't be using them in the first place eh? The only "technicality" I can see is that the summons has the regn number wrong by one digit... but it's correct everywhere else, and I've had CPS change details larger than that just before going to court, with apparently no problem :S I think I just have to take it on the chin and go for damage limitation... I'll give this chap a call and see what he says re: mitigation. Thanks! :)
