Pulling Power
Cool! Unfortunately, women that like fast cars, fast bikes and all that jazz as much as their partners, in my experience tend to be the exception rather than the rule.... If you know any girls around 20ish who are into the above, obviously, just point them in my direction! :D I drive fairly quick on occasion too, and hopefully don't scare anybody, but I certainly wouldn't drive fast with someone who doesn't know me in the car. I wouldn't trust someone I didn't know - why should they. Especially on a bike... I reckon, if you won't get on the back of someone's bike - why should you expect them to get on the back of yours? Being on the back of a bike, going too fast, with someone you don't trust is absolutely horrible.

If Drinking is part of your life...
Jesus! Too much for me. I agree with trying to get the message across but that seems to be more of an attempt to get a reaction - of shock, yes, but for the wrong reasons. Drink drivers need re-education of old habits, not grotesque shock therapy! I agree with James, I think the drink driver is going to have that image far away from his thoughts when he picks up the keys to go home. No one sets out to crash! Personally I think the onus lies as much with someone's friends to stop them doing it. If your friends (i.e. the people whose opinions you value) refuse to let you do it, or give you huge amounts of grief for it, you'll stop. Any friend of mine that tried it would certainly get the message!

Pulling Power
HAHA LOL. Suppose that's another option. Might try it.. Although to be fair, if you pick a girl up in your Zed, when you open the door to let her in she's going to think the interior light is a bloody Tractor Beam or something!!! At least she'll be expecting the probe! After the engine work you've got planned you'll probably be able to hit Warp Speed 9 or something aswell!!

Pulling Power
Admittedly I've never pulled directly as a result of the car - (I wouldn't be too keen on any girl that used someone's car as their main point of evaluation anyway...) BUT... I find the best thing to do is not mention the car, and then, when you've used your charm/ wit/ guile/ wallet/ rohipnol (jk), to pull them just give them a lift in it somewhere. (i.e. drop them home in the morning :D or pick em up when going for a date or something) You know that Toyota Corolla advert, "a car to be proud of" when that bloke leans against the car and offers the girl a lift home blah blaah blah... well, something like that. If you start going on about cars when trying to pull they just think you're a loser. And whilst you may well be a loser - don''t let them know it! ;) They ALWAYS comment on the car. By this point it's like candy from a baby! (in theory anyway  ) The only way to screw it up from now on is to show them how fast the thing is. NICE GIRLS DON'T LIKE BEING S**T SCARED BY SOME CLOWN WHO THEY HARDLY KNOW!!! Wheelspins and traffic light GP's are for the Corsa boys when with a new girl. When they know you better, bring it on! Show them why every charva in the area wants to race! At least by this point they'll feel comfortable enough to shout "Slow the f*ck down!!" :D :D

WOW! Great MPG. I tell you how!
DAMN RIGHT!!! What's wrong with the world? It seems we're a world full of lightweights! Why does no one build a REALLY scary car anymore? All those stories of 205 GTI's with lethal lift-off oversteer, Ferrari's and Maserati's with hideous road manners, Japanese performance cars that were built purely to blow the rival car out the water in terms of speed, not bloody build quality and aesthetics! The closest you get now is a Mitsubishi Evo and even those are getting tamer (look at the 7/8 compared to the 5/6)! Excuse me Mister manufacturer, could you build me a supercar? Certainly sir, we'll give you 600bhp.... oh, and traction control, launch control, automatic gearbox, 4WD, 67 airbags, an ice, snow, rain, sun, gravel, tarmac, drizzle and road crap detector, sensors in every wheel to tell you if they're happy, GPS, VPL, Passenger restraint system and an inbuilt speed camera that takes a photo of you every time you speed to send to the police to ensure you are on the road as short a time as posssible! And it's 250,000,000,000 pounds please! Noooooo..... just give me the 600bhp, a body made out of tin-foil, looks to drop a girl to her knees, a really awkward gearbox and heavy clutch and REAR WHEEL DRIVE! :D :D Sob... the last thing I raced was a Honda Civic Type R on Friday - a freaking squashed people carrier FFS!!! Mind you - it was pretty quick, I think he expected to show the old Zed a clean pair of heels...... hehehe.... fraid you need more than that sunshine! He was behind me when we got to a clear bit of A1, i was cruising along at 70ish, not looking for a race, it just errr.. happened I was in third ;) . Nailed it when the gap opened up.... see you later mate! He filtered past when we got stuck in traffic later on ans I ended up a couple of cars behind him. We get to another bit of open road and.... zoooom - off he goes like a scalded cat! Unfortunately I had to wait for the car in front of me to shift over before I could engage pursuit mode.... it started off with i'd say a 10 car gap between him and me...... I reckon I was doing about 140 by the time I caught up with him! then it was a case of just sitting there and looking impatient!! :D He must have been caning the tits off that Honda though! We slowed down and he pulled over to turn off, I went past, lots of grins and thumbs up.... from his fit bird!!!!! Bring it on, the Zed destroys another victim.... :D :D :D Hmmm.. I seem to have comprehensively hijacked this thread.... BRILLIANT!! What was it about in the first place?

Ruby Wax on Beeb 1 in a few mins ...
All true but come on... did you see the cars. I could cope with all the w****kers just because I got to listen to those cars... The sound of a Ferrari being caned brings me out in goosebumps! How do I get my Zed to sound like that? And that Diablo - on Tower bridge.... hubbahubba!! They should have acknowledged that all the people there were filthy rich and then proceeded to take their cars off them and give them to deserving members of the public to do the rally in. The members of 300zx.co.uk would be a good sample i'm thinking!

Hypothetical Crash.....
Apparently a common biking accident in summer is when two bikers, heading towards each other, both take something approximating the racing line through the apex of a corner, unfortunately, at the same time. Now as you know, when riding a bike (sports anyway) and cornering you look through the corner and past the bike, this has the unfortunate side effect of causing a literal "head-on" collision when the above situation occurs! What do you think the chances of surviving a helmet to helmet collision are, with a theoretical `closing` speed of say 140mph? I wouldn't fancy your chances.....of keeping your head attached to your body! :( hmmm..... might slow down a touch... (although I always go slow into a corner and fast out, just in case.)

Heeelp Me!
Are there any ZX clubs in the UK (and is it a good idea to get one from there)? 300ZX.CO.UK!!! You've found the best club out there! There's always a few decent Zed's popping up on here every now and then. Good idea to get a car from someone you know has looked after it! Autotrader might have a large number of turkeys, but also the occasional gem? True - but dealers really overprice the decent Zeds, and it's very difficult to work out what's a gem and what's not. Very complex cars. Max power and magazines like that - good hunting grounds? Hmmm... mods are good if done right. Disastrous if done wrong - not sure what quality of mods the normal max power brigade have but i'd be wary.... remember also that mods can severly affect your insurance. But then with mods, when you floor it it can seriously affect your vision so it's probably worth it! Any value in an AA inspection? I'd say, unless you can get one of the expeerts off here to go along with you for a look. When these things go pop it costs muchos moola. How much should I spend (or, what can I get for around £5-6K)? There seem to be loads of Zeds in this price bracket at the mo. Should give you decent choice, don't buy the first one you see! Are you guys running these as second cars or do you use them every day? I use mine every day - it's fine. Heavy on petrol, wear, etc etc but it's worth it at the moment. If I start having to do massive miles every week though I'll probably get a second car. Mind, I drove a TVR for ages as my only car so I can put up with virtually anything!! What about mileage (is it possible to get one with 50K on the clock - was the one I looked at likely clocked or not)? Not sure about whether yours was clocked or not - did the seats/ steering wheel / pedals etc look excessively worn? As for miles - most seem to have over 50k on them (as you'd expect) but there are a few around with less (often top dollarr) - not always a good thing though, i'd rather get one with more miles that's been looked after properly than one that's stood for months at a time. Mine had 58k on when I got it. Import vrs UK spec? Massive discussion point. Imports are more expensive to insure. Different specs. If you're after a manual you'll struggle to find a decent UK one for sale - may have to go import. Mine's an import and i'm very happy with it! Have a look at the links on this site. They're very good. Happy Hunting, Chris

Mreg, Red Zed - Bradford Nissan. NE1?
Saw it there today... nice wheels... anybody on here? Not seen any other Zed's round this way (although only been working here 3 weeks!)

Rear Spoiler "skin"
:D Would have done but went to the Nissan Dealer instead to ask about warning light.... they charge £60 straight away for diagnostic work!!! They wouldn't even come and look at my car and forced me to book it in. It needs a service anyway so i've booked it in but i'm not impressed! Perhaps I should buy the camera to cheer myself up..... aHA!!!! Actually.... will wait and see what's wrong with my Zed I think.... there may be some expenses on the horizon.....

Rear Spoiler "skin"
It looks good on the LWB too! I've just had my Zed done at PPS with the round light conversion. Was aiming to get a spoiler put on but am so pleased with the new smooth lines without a spoiler and just the skin i'm leaving as is and going for a different look. Would post pics if I had a decent digital camera....! Hmmmm..... might pop to Dixons at lunch........

Japanese Translation
After a hellish journey of 7 hours yesterday my Zed is lighting a new light at me. Anything that glows red worries me and this particulrly as I don't know what it is! I think it's the same light Gio mentions here... It's between the handbrake light and door open light on the dash. What's wrong with my Zed???? And more importantly - how do I fix it? Prompt responses will save nail-biting and would be much appreciated!! Cheers, Chris ps - also my LIGHTS light comes on when I brake or turn the lights on since my rear lights got converted to round ones. Looks like a bloody christmas tree!

Better than expected!
hmmmm... high speed stability... not really noticed any different but then I haven't gone that fast since I picked it up. Had it up to about 115 a few times prob but have to be very careful with my err... checkered past... Will let you know if it tailslides me off the umm.. private road at 155mph. But then, you'll probably read about it in the papers!! I'lll tell you what though - it makes the boot a hell of a lot easier to lift! It's just about a one handed job now!! LOL.

Help!!
Have you checked your alloys to make sure no-one stuck some spoke reflectors (free with Frosties) in there? Other than that I can only suggest you check someone isn't trying to slow your Zed down by wedging their Dunlop Green Flashes between the tyre and the frame..... :D Sorry - just a bit bored and your comment resurrected long forgotten memories of my BMX. Hope it isn't anything expensive :)

Better than expected!
Firstly, AT LAST - the site's working again! Secondly, picked my car up from PPS on Saturday - eventually! Here's the story.... Basically I booked the car in for the round light swap and the addition of a mid level rear wing back in October! There has been disaster after disaster over the suppliers of the wing and I have waited and waited. Eventually, I took the car in at the end of Jan - supposedly the spoiler would turn up the following week. I went skiing, came back and .... no spoiler. Suppliers had let Pete down AGAIN!!! 3 weeks passed and I really needed my car back. The lights and tailgate skin were there... just no spoiler. Soo.... I agreed with Pete that he'd paint up the lights and tailgate skin and we'd put the spoiler on at a later date. I went along to pick the car up on saturday and I was amazed!! It looks AWESOME with the smooth back and no rear wing. Makes the car look longer, there's a real ferrari look to the back and it just looks REALLY GOOD! (Obviously Pete did a cracking job fitting the bits as usual). I think it was Clarkey who once said he preferred the smoothed off look. Very astute young man! Pete himself was saying how he'd do his own zed like mine because he liked the look so much and I agree. I'm well happy with it and have changed my plans as to what i'm going to do next. I was going to go aggressive (a la Macca's-ish (which was at PPS when I picked the car up actually)) but now I'm going to go for a different look. Smooooooooooth. A smoother rear bumper, skirts and nose perhaps and I'll have one of the best looking Zeds out there!! (IMO - LOL) Just need to find the kit I like. Oh, and a twin exit exhaust - mine's a single exit Kakimoto racing exhaust which sounds lovely (all 6 cyclinders into 1 pipe) but it makes the back look very unbalanced. Although it sounds so good I might actually just get a dummy pipe for the other side (shhhhhh!). Will post pics when I can find someone with a digital camera to do the car justice! (ps. get even more kids hanging out of car windows now i've got the round lights! :D )

Well It is so nice when you get an email like this!

Group buy on leather Gear Shift and Handbrake boots.
Konrad, I contacted Maciek directly via e-mail and he replied within a couple of hours telling me how much it was in dollars. He suggested the following "I'm not sure how it goes with changing currencies, but the simplest way to pay in GBP should be to go to http://www.paypal.co.uk and send money from there to us. Our account is PayPal@boots.hypermart.net" But it looked like I had to sign up to stuff and all that rubbish so I just paid him in dollars. ;) Send him a mail and i'm sure he'll agree the same with you. My boots are getting shipped on Monday - Black with Silver Thread :D :D :D ps. cheers for organising this Stuart.

Group buy on leather Gear Shift and Handbrake boots.
Not on my paypal payments details screen! There's a question mark box which says they'll convert the currencies into whatever they need to be but no drop down option to select the currency you want to pay with. I've contacted Maciek directly who'll hopefully be able to help me out.

How can I find out what I've got???
Sounds like a daft question right? The problem is i'm not sure what my zed has had done to it and I'd really like to know. That way I can plan further upgrades or at least start worrying that my car's going to blow up. I think most of the work was done in Japan. When it was advertised, the seller was talking about it having high 300's in terms of bhp (@ the crank) and apparently it has been rolling road tested in the past. I haven't seen any dynographs though so... I know for a fact it has: Kakimoto single exit racing exhaust Dump Valves (god knows what make, can't see them and don't know where to look!) HKS Turbo Timer Alledgedly it also has: ECU Chip Boost Upgrade Air filter upgrade How can I find out what chip i've got, what boost i'm running and what air-filter i've got. I can see the filter but it might be stock as far as I know. It's not a shiny chromed thing but what does that mean - is it standard? Can i find the chip somewhere and have a look? Is there someone who can test boost levels? The car's in Newcastle at the moment, anyone know of somewhere I can take it for "investigation"? Guesses, hypotheses and blind assumptions welcome :D

How do we pay in Sterling? The paypal page will only let me enter dollars! And if I have to enter dollars, how much is £24 in greenbacks? Cheers, Chris

Chevvy Corvette - ne1 driven 1 ?
Me too!! Was looking at getting one of those Stingray style 1970's bad boys. Took one out - nice noise, no go. Unbelievably soft suspension and really not my idea of a sportscar. Very slow for a 5.6 V8!!! I think they look awesome though. :D The earlier ones are MUCH faster though (US got caned over oil crisis and emissions and stuff for a bit) The later ones are very quick, but until recently didn't handle too well. Now what you really want is a Callaway version. 237mph!!! Have a look at http://www.corvette.co.uk Cheers, Chris

so, now the zed has gone what shall i get next?
Don't get a TVR if you're not keen on spending lots of cash keeping it in tip-top condition. Great cars but you've got to remember - they're handbuilt, low volume, British sports cars - they just aren't going to be as reliable as a Japanese car. I think they'd make the perfect 2nd car. What about a Porsche 968 ClubSport - that's ALL GOOD for trackdays. One of the best handling cars ever. It won't depreciate either. Or go a bit daft and get a C4/ C5 Corvette. The newer ones lose virtually all their value in the first few years over here and you can pick up some pretty new, 5.6litre V8, FAST bits of kit for not a lot of cash. And they've got Head Up Display - How cool? There are some specialised dealers around who have loads of them: Claremont Corvette, DART corvette. both around Kent area.

Zeds and rolling roads.....
Really? Now THAT is interesting......... if it's true I can see a large number of square plates appearing on imports in the not too distant. Those SPECS cameras are getting far too common. Can't get done on my bike (No front plate obviously) but they're talking about introducing front plates soon! Can you imagine a? how bad that would look and b) what it would do to the handling having a f**k off plank of plastic stuck to the front wheel!!?!?! Thinking of getting a personalised number plate actually. Seen one which is ideal. CHR1S. Or even CHR15 W. The 2nd one was offered for a snip - only 55k! LOL!! What would you put that on, a Lear Jet??!!!
