  1. That's Rich's car - user name Touslecoq. Send him a PM and he'll no doubt email you a load of pics if you're interested. His is the Daytona Blue Viper fronted Zed that was at the PPS shoot on Sunday.
  2. I'll be there. In a black corvette though so if you find one parked next to the Zeds you'll understand why! Should be a really good event - i've heard of some crazy power cars heading down there....
  3. Runners Up 6) Exterior Runner Up Chris C 7) Interior Runner Up Toulsgog 8) Engine Bay Runner Up SMW1 9) Boot Build Runner Up Toulsgog 10) Best 300zx Runner Up Toulsgog hehehe... Toulsgog! Quality! he's actually on here as Touslecoq. ;) (his surname in French) Aka Rich. Congrats to all who won prizes - great Zeds!
  4. Nah.. don't like it! By the way fella, think I might have scraped your offside front corner whilst pulling my car out this morning... not a problem though, your nasty blue paint polished off my motor no bother! ;) Seriously though, photo's don't do it justice. Can't wait for everyone to see it in the flesh at Billing, .... assuming the way into Billing is VERY flat with NO speedbumps of course....
  5. Not quite as quick as you Pete but onwards and upwards for engine sizes for me too (over 8yrs) On Road Cars 1. 1985 Mini City - 998cc of power 2. 1990 Mk II Golf GTI 8v - 1.8  3. 1995 Westfield Sei - 2 Litre 4. 1995 Honda Prelude - 2.2 Vtec 5. 1998 TVR Cerbera - 4.2 V8 6. 1995 300ZX - 3.0 Twin Turbo :) 7. 1998 Chevrolet Corvetee - 5.7 litre V8 :D Going to have to get a flaming Viper or something next if I want to increase engnie size again!! Unless I go back to something with turbo's.... Plus some bikes and off roads cars but nothing too special.

hahaha! just had a look at that site - you're right, the one with the wing is HORRIBLE. That's one car that shouldn't have something like that stuck on it. I have seen others though and they are REALLY nice. :)

aha... saw the title thread "Cerbera" and thought i'd find you Rich (touslecoq)! If there's one car that provokes a lot of discussion it's the Cerb... I too had one (98, Moonraker Black, Cream Interior) although you can probably guess that from my user name :o (had the cerb when I joined this forum). I only had it a year (the beast got me a little speeding ban :( ) and loved the car to death when it was working well and on an open road. The rest of the time it worried the s***e out of me as it over-heated, rattled and clonked and generally sounded like it was going to do something very expensive to itself. It only ever broke down properly on me once (a 50p fuse went that needed the top of the engine to be taken off to get to = £500 quid thank you very much). But I think one of the reasons I sold it was the fear of it breaking down more. I know if it had done/cost the same to me as Touslecoq's did to his i'd have felt very bitter! The bit that really got to me was sitting in traffic (something that's an increasingly regular occurance). I could never just relax and sit there as the temp gauge would start to creep up, then go mad (it's a bi-metallic strip that at a point just flicks and points the needle straight up!). I used to find myself getting stressed at the merest sign of a traffic jam in summer! In fairness, mine never went bang (lots of steam and stuff on a regular basis though) and Rich's sat in very hot weather in the middle of Nice (or was it Cannes) last year with no problems - I just never felt like it was going to be ok and that's an uncomfortable feeling when a new engine is 8k. So i guess i'm just agreeing with a few people on here. They are great cars when running right (you should hear one with a proper sports exhaust like touslecoq's had last summer - awesome!) but you need to walk into it with your eyes open. And if you do get one, make sure you get the 18inch Spider alloys fitted - looks the dog's. Chris
  8. Get a suzuki SV650. The BEST beginner bike out there by far. Not only does it look great in fully faired form, you can pick the old (2yrs) model up for peanuts. It has a lovely torque v-twin and with race cans sounds like a Ducati. It handles like a dream and is raced in many series in the States. Parts are cheap to replace and it won't blow up like a 400cc 4. Insurance is v. reasonable too. I don't own one but have ridden them and can't praise them enough for their value for money. And if you think you'll look cool on an old 400 race rep, try ruimbling into uni with a fully kitted SV with twin pipes - plus you've got somewhere comfortablish to sit the birds you're going to pull! If you fancy an unfaired bike - get the unfaired SV650 - it's got slightly lower gear ratios making it easier to pull wheelies! Try that on a 400 without revving the *****x off it and clutching it up. Trying to attach some photo's.....

I was at York Dragway yesterday too! Albeit only briefly.... turned up to have some fun down the strip but was put off by a) the way my clutch started to give up the ghost over Easter in an alarmingly rapid fashion (racing M3's I think), and b) the length of the queue for RWYB. LOTS of saxos etc trying to blow themselves up. Saw you and your 3000 actually but only just read this post. Thought those bottles in the boot might have been just for show but glad to hear they're not! There were a few quick cars there from what I saw (headed off for a look round York to appease the gf fairly early on after i decided not to race) - especially one scooby that looked like he was going to do v. well before he either missed a gear v. badly or blew something up. York seemed ok but i've not seen many other dragways tbh. Shame the track to the strip is so bumpy though - you have to be v. careful if you've got a low car! Definitely interested in going again (without the easily bored g/f) when i've got a new clutch back in. Oh yeah - wasn't in a 300 by the way (sold recently and now undergoing a major transformation) - was in a Black Corvette C5.
  10. Haha! I think you could well kill 2 birds with one stone if you built one of those things... :D
  11. Could be genuine - they have some SUPER fast Hayabusa's over in the States and there's a reason they have had to extend that swing arm...it's got a lot of power! also the acceleration / per 1000 rpm looks fairly linear through the higher gears (bit hard to judge cos it's going so quick!). You've also got to take into account that the Speedo will be reading a fair bit over. Up at the higher ranges of the counter they are always out. Whatever, it's still the fastest thing this side of a 300zx TT and I would love to have a go on one!! As for the question about hanging on at those speeds - the last thing you do is stick your head out from behind the shelter of the screen! It's amazing how much of yourself you can get tucked in behnd a little bit of plastic when you really want to! :D
  12. Whoa... that is Urrrrggllly!! However ;) with a bit of sorting you could pull it off. As people have recommended I say take the original spoiler off, move the wing back, space out the legs, knock of some of the angle - and you could have it looking smart. Going with a Tailgate tub would make it look WAY better too! I kind of see the look you were going for but unless the rest of the car is complementary it looks like the Beige Vectra 1.6 I saw with one on. All i could wonder was whether his mum had noticed her son had stuck the thing on the boot!!!
  13. Got to be said (having also seen both in the flesh) that I prefer the Daytona on the Zed. haven't seen it polished up in bright daylight on the Zed but seen it on plenty of 350's - it's not purple (or at least shouldn't be - hehe..) Best bit is the way the light picks up on the metallic flecks... On the skyline- Bayside is the only way to go. :-) Can't wait to see that car all put together - bring on the re-trim!
  14. I say walk away. Definitely a scam. Not sure how it would work but you can guarantee you won't end up with the cash. Even entertaining the idea of these kind of things is foolish - i've seen loads of these things being talked about before and have NEVER heard of one being genuine. I mean - do you really want to get involved with a deal where you're forwarding on some bloke from South Africa or somewhere's money... ? If it was money laundering you'd be the person it came back to as transferring it from the UK via western union money transfer - dodgiest thing i've ever heard. Plus you'd be giving his "shipper" your account details to take the money out your account - smart move - I DON'T THINK SO! Follow this up if you want to win a Darwin award!
  15. 100k on that? No way - more like 10k! Where did the 100k go - on a 2nd hand Fiat engine, some shocks and new seats? Would be a good laugh and looks nicely trimmed but you could get a Zed for the cash and I believe you will find yourself approaching sixty miles per hour considerably before the clock has got to 7 seconds....
  16. I'm all in favour of looking after engines etc etc, but once it's warmed up - it' time to have some fun! Give it some berries man! If it was not advised to rev up to the red line why would they set the red line so high? It's a RED line for a reason for God's sake - go up to it often and beyond it occasionally and it'll be fine! My GSXR has sod-all power below about 8,000 and only really takes off from about 10.5k onwards. Limiter is on the wrong side of 13,500 rpm. I know it's a bike, but what i'm saying is if I'd never used more than 7,000 rpm on it i'd have got rid ages ago - once I found the power band I got hooked! " but I have never felt the back end go out. I have so far put it down to having reasonable tyres, but maybe it's just not aggressive driving." :slap: Find yourself a nice 2nd gear corner with a wide exit, enter it with about 4,000 dialled up and give it some gas as you leave the apex - you'll either be posting about the joyz of oversteer or looking for some spare parts! LOL! Good luck and happy revving - i'm amazed your reticence in using the rev range is attributed to your first driving experiences though! If that was the same for me i'd still be razzing the nads off everything I drove thinking I was a dog slow 1.3 fiesta, and trying to hit the limiter in every gear! :D
  17. I'm voting YES but only if `enthusiasts` who haven't got a Zed anymore are allowed access and the same discounts etc. :p Just because I've sold my Zed (even though my flatmate has it now - well actually Pete at PPS has it now but anyway....) doesn't mean I don't love the cars and enjoy reading all things Zed related on places like this. It would be great to be able to park up alongside the Zeds at shows and the like, although i'm not sure how many of you would like to be next to my Corvette? :)
  18. 1) Ex RAF Landrover Series III (had a shell hole in the back!) 2) X reg Mini - Red, union jack roof, was a C plate sold on an X - no VIN - hmmmm.... things you overlook at 17! 998cc's of pure mayhem anyway! 3) Another mini - more for parts for 1st than anything else.. Cars started overlapping at this point... 4) Mk II Golf GTI - great car 5) Westfield 2.0 SEiw 6) Honda Prelude 2.2 Vtec 7) TVR Cerbera 4.2 8) Nissan 300ZX TT 9) Chevrolet Corvette C5. - Current. Bikes: 1) Fantic 300 2) Suzuki DRZ400 3) Suzuki GSXR 600 - Current.
  19. Gutted to hear they've written it off Gio. What now?
  20. If you can afford 22k over 2 years on keeping it running - buy a Cerbera. That's how much it cost my flat mate who sold his last week. If you can't afford that, or don't like the idea of pouring so much hard earned into a car don't get a Cerb as you will fall out of love with it as fast as you fell in love with it. I spent 8.5k in a year on mine - it was 2 years old and I could see big bills in the future. A 2nd hand Cerbera is an awful lot of car for the money - unfortunately, the older it gets the more it costs to run. My opinion - buy a Tamora (best built of modern TVR's) or a Griffith 500 (or pre cat original 4.2) as it's racier than a Chimera and better round a track. I've heard worrying tales of reliabilty over Tuscans. Not dissing the Cerbera though - as a car I love them. I just didn't love paying to keep one going. Chris
  21. Cool - do it - they're great! Although I still love Zed's! A few facts about the Corvette: 1) Are all LHD - never produced anything else 2) They were sold in the UK through special dealers for a very limited time - were very unsuccessful over here as they really are a bit different 3) All are 5.7 Litre 4) 99% of them are automatics - took me a while to find a manual 5) 3 Basic choices of C5 - coupe (with removable hard top / glass roof panel), convertible, Z06 - special top of the range thing - hard top, flat back - no roof panels - more power, bigger brakes etc. 6)By far the majority are red - mine's black and I think all the better for it 7) they have got EVERY gadget going - from head up display to passive memorized unlocking, memory seats, twin zone climate, tyre pressure monitors, oil life monitors, the list goes on.... I think it's great to drive. Only driven it a couple of times so far but its been a blast. HUGE amounts of torque mean you just don't need to rev it. Even on its stiffest suspension setting it's more wallowy than a Zed but you don't fling them around like that. Just point, squirt and watch everything reverse towards you! Round town it's not too bad even though it's LHD - nice light steering and the auto's particulary are a doddle. It'll cruise at 95 in 6th (manual - auto is a 4 speed) at just 2,000 rpm. That's when you get reasonable mpg. I think it's awesome to look at - especially the back with four chrome pipes and the round red lights. Standard they're very quiet but it doesn't cost too much to wake up the beast with a new exhaust. Very different to a european/jap car - but that makes it more fun IMHO. Might consider stiffening it up at some point but for now i'm just happy to be rumbling about (when my exhaust gets fitted), smoking it through the gears and posing!
  22. "You just need some nice chicks to work for you now" Haha! Yeah - I think i'm going to have to invest in a long velvet pimping jacket!
  23. Well that worked out very nicely! Have sold my Zed, but the happy purchaser turns out to be my flatmate! He's just sold his Cerbera and has been driving my Zed for a bit and realised what a great car it is! All I need to do now is persuade him to fork out for all those mods i'd love to do to it.... I reckon a few grand thrown in PPS's direction would be a good starting point... Have also got my new car too. :D Picked it up last Tuesday but had it parked up since then as it's going in to get a straight through exhaust stuck on it this week. At the moment it's FAR TOO QUIET! I reckon it should sound great with the new pipes... because after all.. it is a 5.7 litre V8 Corvette! Got it from near Manchester and when I drove through town (admittedly lost and probably using more revs than neccessary trying to get used to it) the on-board computer told me I was doing 3.6 mpg! It does about 30 mpg on the motorway though.... Anyway, it's a 1998 black C5 targa coupe - so if you get someone in a Vette flashing their lights at you in your Zed, don't worry - just wave back... The only things I want to do to it at the moment is get some new alloys (the standard ones are fairly average), decat and the exhaust (which apparently is going to make my ears bleed :D ), a chip and air filter. Should take me to a genuine 400bhp (crank) and suitably worry the traction control. And when i'm back in Newcastle on the weekends I can still borrow the Zed! :D :D
  24. No V8 in the Tuscan unfortunately - but agreed, they do know how to make a 6 sound awesome! Just got back from a 3000 mile round trip of the South of France, Italy and Switzerland. One of my mates took his Cerbera as one of the motors (2 cars, 1 bike). It performed quite well.... if you consider it only broke down once, only developed 2 or 3 niggly problems during the journey and only required 3 days in the workshop to fix the fact it was p1ssing oil everywhere when we got back..... Oh yeah, and it had just had an £8,000 engine repair completed before we left.. :D Went down a storm over there though- no-one knew what it was and it sounded absolutely great screaming away from the Peage's. Unfortunately I only heard him go away from me a couple of times as I was on the bike the rest, and always somehow seemed to be treating him to the sound of my race can... ;) Gutted to be back but loving the fact I can drive my Zed again. Don't know how it would have faired racing the black 360 I found in France though.... my guess is i'd have been left in its wake considering I kept with it on my bike upto about 160 before he pulled away...... Where's Macca when you need him eh? :D
  25. That looks absolutely incredible mate! It's almost enough to make me take a circular saw to my Zed and cut a chunk out the middle! Nice spoiler-less rear end too - Pete does a great job with them doesn't he? He started the trend with mine! ;) Enjoy the stares, Chris
