350z brake conversion
good point. That is just for the front. He wants £600 but I'm talking him down to £550 for a quick deal. He went for £550 really quickly.. makes me think I'm paying too much! argh

350z brake conversion
I'm just in the process of buying R34 GTR Brembos for a conversion. Discs,Pads and Calipers "they are in good condition few marks, discs have loads of life in them still, pads are half worn" ? Do you think £550 is a fair price??

prop replacement
Hi John, It's out at Z-Tech right now. I'm going out there on the 11th. Can I tell you then ( at that point I'll give you the low-down on it ). Not sure exactly what it is.. only that it is custom made and lightweight ( as per the advert when I bought the car ) After the 11th.. I'll come back to this thread and give you the low-down. if you are still interested, I'll get it to you at a deal.

Brembo Disc conversion... Info & anyone interested
I've been reading Blackmagic's conversion thread.. very useful. I told my mate in Japan to keep an eye out for a front/rear GTR brake set-up for me. Anything special I should be looking for?? R32, R33, R34.. differences?? What sort of cost should this set me back?? Anyone else interested if he finds a few sets? I'm bringing a car over so should be able to pack them in the boot (will take 2 months though!)

Any Real Noticable Driving difference between a SWB and Slicktop ??
My LWB has a complete roll-cage welded firmly into the frame from in front of the foot well to well be behind the seats..and feels pretty rigid ( my intention is to tune it more and keep it for a "very occasional drive" but mainly for Track day car. It is a pain to get in and out of as the cage goes past the seats at Thigh level. This SWB is going to be my every day driver. I'm driving a '96 Skyline GTS-T now and it is just soo boring on the inside... feel like I'm in a Vectra.. Call me a big fan of ZED's. Thanks! I sent an email to my mate to find me he nicest SWB T-Top he can. Give me a few months and I may have something to post.

Latest Model SWB / Slicktops ... 99 J-spec, NA conversion?
I was told that the UK won't accept these little tricks... spot them a mile away.. Not sure if I want to test them on it..

Any Real Noticable Driving difference between a SWB and Slicktop ??
Ok.. I've about given up on the idea of getting a model report done. So I spoke to my mate in Japan today and plenty of '95,'96 SWB's around and few Slicktops. So I've given him the task of finding one with under 35K cert. miles on the clock. I Like the idea of getting the more rare Slicktop... but it's a hard decision to give up the benefit of T-Tops on days like we are experiencing now... I've never driven a slicktop... so not sure if I'm making a fuss over nothing.. Do they drive like 2 different cars ??? or can you hardly notice the difference out on the road?? *I do have a Roll bar that I can put into that may add a bit of stiffness?

Club Sponsored Model report for Late Model 300ZX's ???
I repeated myself a couple times to the "pay for Technical Advice" line on http://www.modelreports.com // he said, Nope.. Only ask for Model reports on 10 years or younger cars.. +++so much for paying for the right Advice!+++ maybe I should call Model Reports Direct and ask them the same.

Club Sponsored Model report for Late Model 300ZX's ???
OK, Have spoken to a couple of specialist companies (model reports direct & model reports.com ) that have done Model reports for Fairlady Cabriolets, and a number of 350 Models. VERDICT: Not worth doing, very difficult. + £3500 - £6000. Better to wait each year as once they are 10 years old you don't need the model report.. i.e. in 2009 we can all have 99-Specs without anything more than an MOT. HOLLAND/EUROPE - Have less stringent Certification Certificates and the UK will not accept these Certificates at face value.. ie. will ( they are 95% sure) require you to get one done over here also. Won't just waive you in.. Poo. Anyone know someone with a very nice SWB or Slicktop TT Manual that they may want to sell!! ? I found a '93 slicktop in Birmingham... but won't be able to get up there for at least a week to check it out. may need to go to Cardiff to check out that red one..

Club Sponsored Model report for Late Model 300ZX's ???
Thanks for the help and useful info. If you could get your mate doing the Holland thing email me on vg30dett.uk@gmail.com that would be great! but.. to answer you're question about "why would..." There are far more ridiculous & Stranger things / objects of desire / Collectors items.. that people pay far more money for... Anyone else interested in a $28,000 piece of Toast!? I just happen to be looking for the best example 300 I can get a hold of until something like the GTS comes out and beyond (as Ryans Twin-Turbo 350 Conversion is adding another £17K to the price...) and found a slicktop with 5K Mi. on the clock ..

Club Sponsored Model report for Late Model 300ZX's ???
Doesn't sound like it's in the best interest of the club to do one for the SWB or Slicktop. I definitely think it should do it for the LWB though!! mind you there will be people against it. I originally had a comment that was similar to Royal's about the Club benefiting from a bit of positive energy infusion... bringing in Nice, Newer and "good" Z32's couldn't hurt the cause. I think I may have to go solo on the SWB side ( hopefully it will cover both Slicktops and T-Tops ). I'll start making some calls... keep you guys posted as to what I find.

1989 SWB rebuild... love it or leave it??
yes... I wondered that also. I'm going to call around to some of these SVA centres who claim " Model Reports for Many Vehicles" and see what they have to say.

Club Sponsored Model report for Late Model 300ZX's ???
Hopefully this ambitious thread title will bring some needed attention. I was thinking... very positive move for this club could be the introduction of later model 300's into the UK!!? I'm currently very interested in Bringing over a 1999 Spec Slicktop over to the UK from Japan. But don't want to carry the burden of a Model report on my shoulders alone. A few have responded similarly. Can we put this to some sort of Club vote, so that the issue is settled, and 'We' dreamers can either realize our dreams,,, or wake up and smell the coffee?? ***has anyone called around to the various SVA companies to make sure that a model report isn't already floating around???

1989 SWB rebuild... love it or leave it??
Yes... that sounds great. I would much rather just spend the wedge and get a 6 or 7 year old car than start pumping money into a 17 year old one.... Who can I speak to about this?? **actually,, speak of the devil... I was trying to find out how to email you.. How did you get yours in??

Motec Engine Management.
The M800 is very flexible and mine has a couple of pre-set mappings.. Owen Developments are meant to be pretty good too.. if you are in the Oxford area.. http://www.owendevelopments.co.uk I've got a tee time booked for early August... I'll be able to give you a rating after that.

1989 SWB rebuild... love it or leave it??
I'm perplexed... is this a love it or leave it proposition... I have been looking for a good '95 or '96 SWB or Slicktop without a whole bunch of luck. closest I found was a 1999 slicktop for £10K.. but don't like the whole 'Model report' gamble/expense A friend has a very standard 1989 SWB NA with 50,000 on the clock. It's been sitting in his drive for about 2.5 years with the occasional start. The interior is... well... 17 years old. The body... well needs a re-spray... Shocks and everything else for that matter... look old. and tired. I can buy it for £700.00 and then. Get a £1700 full re-spray for about £900 through a mate who owes me one. replace all the bushes, shocks, drop a very good TT lump (currently have) in it, new seats, etc. With the wealth of experience in this forum with these types of projects... is it worth-while... or a complete pain in the butt when in the end you are left with a 17 year old car when all is said an done??? should I just keep looking to find a £4-£6K Gem with under 30,000 miles on the clock.. or give Ryan at Z-Tech a load of work ???
-
Replacing all the Bushes... fun or complete hassle??
How much. Parts & Labour are we looking at to replace all the bushes on a 1989 SWB TT?? thinking about, very unwisely, of taking on a project...

R.i.p
Here are a couple of Pics I found..... pretty crazy to have all this power with standard seats & belts??

99spec Slicktop...
I spoke with Ryan at Z-Tech and he says that I wouldn't have a problem. I'll have to research it more, before I commit. I would bring it over and get the model report done if there were others interested, .....but as I've seen endless blogs about timewasters from Sellers... would be worried loads of people would say "Heck Yeah... I'm in !!! I'm There !!!,, buddy, you can count on me !!! .... only to disappear into the shadows when it comes to 'pay the wedge' time. so a bit of a dilemma,, wouldn't you say?

99spec Slicktop...
Already have a track car... check my ride.. I was looking for a everyday runner.

99spec Slicktop...
Must be something with my PC... can't copy/paste. ** so you are 100% sure I cannot bring in a Z32 under 10 years old? If so, bummer..
