  1. You could try and remove the back seats and dump the aircon. On a serious note Stu is dead right, Pop down to SE Nissan, £260ish later you will be running 1 bar. If your tubs are not in top condition forget it. If you have this upgrade and remove the cats you will not only reduce your back pressure (which is good) but you will also put the tub oil seals under alot of stress. The stock seals require a certain amount of backpressure to seal correctly. Iam speaking from experience here "smoky on the water" ECU CPU twin pops are normaly used to squeeze the last bit of power from the engine ie:fine tuning..Just stick with the single Blitz SUS and a JWT CPU for starters, decat pipes, performance zorst 3"", 1 bar of boost then you will be on your way.
  2. The bearings in the head itself looks perfect, they must use slightly different composites. This wear from what I can tell is common, so what have guys done in the past to fix this problem
  3. Dont think you get 400bhp simply with that setup. Maybe if you lost your cats and doubled your boost to say 14PSI. With 400bhp 0 -60 depends if have an auto or manual. but I am guessing around early 5s.
  4. Q1.. Does any one know if you can buy individual upper cam bearings. I have a couple of engines with the right most bank (exhaust) suffering from excessive wear. I have been told that the bearing housings are machined in the factory to match the cams, and the housings are not transferable from one head to another. Say if I replace shell E2 with shell E2 from another head would this be sufficiant to maintain oil pressure?. Q2..If the bearings and the cam are machine matched at Nissan, then what happens if you want to replace a cam?. I know with mains and big ends you simply replace the shells but can some shed any light on this cam query.. The heads are fully stripped down at my place, but the car is stuck in a repair shop on the ramps. The garage are pussing for me to repair the cam bearings so they can put the car back together. Cheers Guys Dave
  5. Just done mine. I have found that the right exhaust bank suffers the most poss due to heat. After rebuilding several Z heads, I have noticed that the bank in question suffers from a high build up of varnish and can be cleaned of with either spirits/petrol or if there really bad you can use very fine emmery cloth. Once you done it make sure you flush the followers out with clean petrol/sprits to clear out the oil ways. Make sure that the followers are returned to the holes they came out off (important) The cam lobes are match (worn) to the exact same pattern as the followers. Get these mixed up and you will know what noise really is.. Hope this helps... Dave
