  1. Ok Cheers. Would like to get this done at some point. Don't really know a thing about engines but with this car I'm trying to do most (easy) stuff myself, a. to save money and b. to get that warm feeling of accomplishment especially when a problem gets fixed. Thanks for the help guys.
  2. Anyone know of a good site with instructions to change zed spark plugs. I know of this one: http://www.ttzd.com/tech/sparkplugstech.html But the pictures are tiny and have to indications of them, and the descriptions are hard to follow as they use part names that I don't know. Cheers Al
  3. They do an 'own brand' version in woolies and a mckellar one in focus for about 15 quid. Dunno how they compare though. But they're so damn handy.
  4. Well I brought my dremel to make holes in my door card to fit my tweeters thinking I'd probably never use it again. But haha! It's been an absolute star in the last few days. Slicing up my battery cable, stripping the end off the cable, cutting through an old negative connector stuck to said cable, cutting off the ends of the bolt that got stuck in my new gold 'shrimpy' connector, then using it to make a divot in the bolt and then using it to drill through it (the actual drill wasnt fast enough). Fantastic piece of machinary and absolutely invaluable!

Thats fantastic, now back to the Lotus!
  6. Actually this one's genius! Will try this tomorrow thanks.
  7. Yeah I read that but I don't think its a jap battery and the connector fit over it perfectly. It just broke when I was tightening it.... Cheers people I'll give some of those things a try. Al
  8. Why would it act like that though? The contacts seemed good.
  9. How do I get this broken screw out? The head snapped off wasn't even tight at the time. Tried grabbing it with mole grips and twisting but they just slip off. Tried twisting from the inside using those thin plier things and that don't work either. I'm sure it should just come out easy no idea why its so stuck. Cheers, Al
  10. Bantam may find this funny as he knows what I've been doing today... Anyway I went out for a drive and the car was really jerky on the throttle and everytime I had to stop at the lights or at a roundabout the idle was really lumpy and felt like it would stall. Got home and let it idle and although it didn't stall is was realy really up down up down lumpy. Turned off the ignition, tried to start it up again and it wouldn't start. Any ideas? I earlier removed the negative terminal on the car and replaced it with a new one. Could all these problems be caused by a dodgy connection of the negative terminal clamp thing to the wire? Cheers, Al
  11. Pick up the tv put it on some bathroom scales to get its weight. Now put the scales on the dvd player and tread on it till you reach the weight reading the tv gave. If the dvd player doesn't seem to be buckling under the pressure then it should be ok. Of course this will only have any chance of working if the dvd player is larger than the scales. And most of them are tiny these days. Just an idea though. you could just tread on it with your foot and see if it breaks.
  12. Thats ok, like I said in the mails though I'm in no rush, so whenever suits you is fine as long as I'm in of course.
  13. Oh dear. Feel sorry for that guy. Hey Bob while you're here did you get my e-mails re: the remote central locking?
  14. Thats weird as Me and some of my mates are going out for an all you can eat chinese and one of them was going to come but now can't. Not that weird really but oh well.
  15. I suppose you'll want some hub caps for it too then?
  16. Thats fantastic the progression I mean, not incest of course. What did you think of the nx? I love the fact they have targas.
  17. Head injuries take effect in such a weird way. On that stretcher trolley he looks like he had a great laugh.
  18. So how much is the group buy as mine were 38 squids in a single solitary solo buy. Did you get it from Petes Ebay auctions Bants? (can I call you Bants :x: )
  19. Wow that was a long read indeed but brilliant! "It sounds like you have some riding experience on the 12 inch johnson rod." Fantastic.
  20. Thats looking mighty good!
  21. I wanted a pug 406 for a while. Would have liked a white one with a marseilles taxi sign on top. The v6 is 0-60 in about 9 secs isn't it? Not too different to the 2 ltr turbo.
  22. Here's his actual words in explanation to me: "Not sure if I explained it properly, when the wheel is off there are 5 wheel studs, in the centre of the brake disc there is a round hub that sticks out a few mm, the centre of the wheel slides over this. But un this case will not quite go as the hole on the cente of the wheel needs to be 2mm bigger. Lexus hubs are slightly smaller."
  23. If you want to find out more talk to ronflat as I got them off him. I think the body shop had to do a bit of adjusting because the centre of the wheel was too narrow.

Thats good news mate and you don't look bad at all. At most it looks like you're a bit pissed off at something but gettin stuck into that lotus engine bay should sort that out.
